We loved our cabin. Spent lots of time birding from the deck and watching the hummingbirds. The grounds were beautiful and we saw so much. Helen and Jesse have created a private, peaceful haven for wildlife and people. if we get to come back, we will definitely stay longer. Simon kindly provided transportation to Caroni swamp and to Asa Wright.... More

An important client of mine suggested Hacienda Jacana as a get away for when my wife came to visit in Trinidad. From what he had told me, I expected a totally relaxing and beautiful natural getaway in the Trinidad bush. I am happy to report it was all that and more! From the moment we arrived we knew this place... More

Let me predicate this review of Hacienda Jacana (H.J.) on the foundation that the ideal vacation for me is one spent at the beach, (whether bathing is possible or not), once I can feel that fresh ocean breeze, hear those crashing waves & see the sunrise or sunset depending on which coast I'm on, I will have a great time.... Excellent place if you need to get away from the hustle of daily life. It is on a large area of land with wooden cabins and beautiful natural scenery. Canoes are available and there is a grill for cooking. The hosts are very nice. My only minor issue is that I wish the pool was bigger.

This tranquil Eco resort in the lush forest of Talparo provides a quiet get away. The rustic, clean yet modern accommodation and sumptuous meals feels just like home. The natural "hummingbird show" that constantly played out on our front porch while we ate and " hung out" was a true highlight of our visit. The personal touch by the owners... More

The purpose of our trip is birdwatching and there is around 60 to spot in this area. Along with a couple of Caiman to watch from a distance. Hacienda Jacana is a hidden lovely jewel of 4 wooden cottages, each with a balcony overlooking a small pond. Just beyond the pond was some seasoning peppers in cultivation so the yellows greens and reds were a lovely sight. Helen and her husband are stellar at offering great service. The welcome banana bread came in handy for breakfast and you... More

I have just spent 8 days at Hacienda Jacana and would highly recommend it. The cabins are beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped with everything you could possibly need, including air-conditioning and wi-fi. Helen and Jesse are the most amazing hosts, so friendly and welcoming. Together with Rita and her team, they looked after us incredibly well throughout our stay! The home-made... More

Hacienda Jacana is set in beautiful surroundings. Each of it's four cozy and well appointed cabins overlook a pond surrounded with marsh type vegetation, interspersed by tall trees, all of which attract a rich and diverse bird life, along with a variety of other interesting representatives of the natural world. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene; it's a great place... More
