We have spent a Easter weekend at the Half Moon Inn in wales. Accommodation is basic but very comfortable. Owners were helpful and welcoming. The toilets are not inside the rooms, which was a surprise for us but everything is very clean. Beds are super comfy. And the breakfast were huge. We had full english breakfast and the vegetarian full...

Came on my annual visit to this lovely part of Wales...Lynda and Steve are the right people to run an inn ..they enjoy people and are genuine, down to earth and truly hospitable...generous full Welsh breakfast ( with black pudding !)...it's warm, comfy and unique..such an antidote to the sophistication ( ruining) of many rural pubs, the half moon has...

We had provisionally arranged for the 7 of us to eat at 8pm on a Friday. we were coming from various areas and meeting at the local camp site prior to a couple days up on the Black Mountains. You have to rate things against what they are - and its not the Ritz but a village Pub. They were...

This is a lovely place to stay. It's not the best equipped, but it's very friendly and accommodating , the food and beer are both good, the building is charming and the scenery beautiful. It's quiet but only twenty minutes from Abergavenny. Strongly recommended.

Great little pub and B&B. Stayed one night whilst walking in the National Park. Very welcoming, simple basic rooms but perfect for when you arrive with your muddy boots :-), great food and beer, superbly hospitable night with a cosy wood burning stove in the middle of the pub. Loved our stay, thank you.

Lynda and Steve were great hosts for our 3-day stay walking in the snowy hills. A roaring fire, great local beer (Wye Valley), very generous food portions and tasty food. Rooms clean and very comfy beds. Atmosphere was easygoing and we felt like family guests.

We planned a short walk in the nearby mountains aiming to finish up in the pub for beer and food. We could see the first curls of smoke start up from the chimney as we descended the mountain, and walked into a lovely snug environment. The owners couldn't have been more friendly or chatty, and the beer was good and...

This is a traditional inn with personal hosting from Lynda and Steve. I sayed for a week and they accommodated my whims, e.g. a pick-up from the bus stop at Llanvihangel Crucorny, making the TV in the dining room available for me to watch my favourite programmes (no TV in the bedrooms) and lending me a map and booklet about...

A group of friends and I had a two night stay at the Half Moon Inn whilst walking in this beautiful area. Owners Lynda & Steve are very welcoming hosts and the no-nonsense rooms are spotlessly clean and warm. As others have already stated on here, the meals come in very generous, walker-friendly portions and Lynda even made us some...

Firstly thank you so much to Lynn and Steve who were welcoming , entertaining and flexible. The food was good straight forward pub grub and good sized portions for walkers . Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Half Moon Hotel is set in a peaceful and secluded spot in the beautiful Black Mountains, part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Next door to Llanthony Priory. The friendly 17th-century pub is an ideal base for walkers (we are not far from the Offas Dyke Path and on the beacons way path). We are also well situated to explore the Norman border castles, old churches and chapels of the Welsh borders. The small town of Abergavenny is 10 miles away. Hay-on-Wye 13 miles, Hereford 25 miles and Cardiff 40 miles. The Half Moon serves good food, real ales & tea & coffee, child friendly pub. We also have a beer garden for your use and dogs are welcome. Pony trekking is available close by and caters for all ages and abilities. The Half Moon is situated in an area designated as a dark sky at night location and is therefore ideal for stargazers and photographers. Our accommodation is basic due to the age of the building, but a warm welcome and good food and ale is offered to all our visitors. The Half Moon is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and therefore there is some disruption to normal service however we are working extremely hard to keep the disturbance to our guests to a minimum.
