My room was cosy and very confortable heated by a wood stove. Great food. Serviable staff. Awesome week of heliskiing. Super guides and pilots. My room was located in a separate chalet at a short walking distance of yhe main lodge.

Even traveling solo with 22 skiers in the restaurant at 2 big tables it felt like to be in a big family. Skiing in the open field was amazing. The pilots have great experience and the guides gave all their knowledge that there was safe skiing. And this is most important. From Ripley Creek Alaska is just 3 km away , so don’t miss to get hyderized!!

Everything about this experience is epic. The cozy cabins, gourmet food, fancy cocktails, great guides, and of course the largest heliskiing terrain in the world,... make this an easy selection when choosing a heliskiing adventure. Last Frontier rocks! (And extra tip, ask them about their jam weeks with your favorite musicians!)

Cons: The communication between the guides about safety and terrain choices was poor. The women on the trip were treated differently and not in a good way from the men. I felt unsafe and rushed while out skiing.

Pros: The facility is nice. The people working at the lodge are kind. The massages were good. The food was great.

On the first day, the head, Lucas, told the group of 40 that we would stay high because of rough terrain down low. Then the ten women were rushed through low terrain in the woods with 3-4 inches of ice covering the powder beneath while the men in the group skied powder in higher terrain. Two of the ten women did not have their lunch in the field because of food sensitivities that had been given to leadership prior to the excursion while one helicopter flew back to base camp to bring a man in a separate group his special lunch request. I explained to the guide and the head person,Lucas, at the end of the day that the women were unhappy with the choice of terrain and their lack of lunch and was told that the difference in treatment was just my perception. I responded, “perceptions matter and you all could do better.”

Day two, we had a new guide, Nick, that took us on extremely hard terrain jumping off of 5 foot cornices while rushing us saying things like, “let’s go ladies, we don’t have all day for your hair and makeup!” I asked to follow him because I was scared. He would ski ahead about five football fields and say just follow my tracks.

Day three I took off and the people who went out came back quickly due to bad weather.

Day four we had Nick again in the morning which proved to be my final day of skiing and was the worst ending. We were again rushed and the communication between the guides proved almost fatal.

On my last day of skiing our guide went off a jump and landed on a participate leaving himself with a bruised rib and her with a partially torn meniscus. One of my skis kept popping off mid run in deep snow. I quickly stopped three times on one leg to find my buried ski pulling a hamstring. Both could have been much worse situations and easily avoided with better communication and not rushing.

I felt like the outfit was more concerned with getting vertical than having their patrons be safe and have fun.

I cannot recommend this trip. Last Frontier needs to improve their guide and base camp communication and slow down to avoid injuries.

Hi Lauren (and now of course anyone else reading this), It is our goal to send people home having had an amazing time and in your case Lauren, clearly we have failed. As you already know, we don’t necessarily agree with your perspective of events but we acknowledge that this is your perspective. Helicopter skiing is by nature a very fluid experience. It is both exhilarating and challenging. Often conditions change, unexpected events happen and logistics can become quite complex. We deal with those changes as best we can but the wild mountain environment in which we operate doesn’t always allow for a ‘fluffy’ solution. We certainly never claim to get it right all the time. With almost 30 years operating heliskiing / in the service business we appreciate that the job of communicating with our guests in an effective way is paramount to our success. There will always be challenges to getting this right. Some people want more explanation, others less, so often it can be a delicate balance. We have addressed your specific points with you personally already and are happy to re-open that conversation should you so wish. We are genuinely sorry that you feel the way you do, however for the benefit of the audience / forum that you have created by posting your comments, we consider it fair to point out that: The vast majority of other guests at the lodge felt strongly that their trip was an overall success. We gauge ‘success’ quite simply: first and foremost they felt safe, communication was very good, they felt the staff were fun and they received good value for money. (We know this is as 90% filled out a comment card telling us so.)

Even though I have skiied 56 of my 58 years, and cat skiied twice, Heli is another level
(universe?) altogether. We were at Ripley Creek aka Stewart, BC. The room was cozy and nicely done, had a desk for me to
do a bit of work during bad weather times. Breakfast was good, and a time of anticipation: was the weather good or not? Last Frontier did a great job of keeping us fully informed, and please remember all: they don't control the weather and safety is first. That is a theme at Last Frontier, be safe, but have lots of fun. Dinners were a highlight as was the really cool old time bar - fun to chat before and after dinner with all the other skiiers. The skiing was unbelievable, incredible powder, and the pure bluebird day (9,900 meters!) was the stuff of ski movies. The guides/pilot were great, and did listen to us the bluebird day - we cut short lunch to ski more. Much appreciated. Believe it or not, it IS AS GOOD as the videos on their web site. Would I go again? In a hearbeat, and planning to! Thankyou to all, a bucket list experience I want to repeat.

Last Frontier Heli-Skiing out of Ripley Creek/Stewart was by far the best experience of any trip we have taken in our life. Everyone involved from reservations, ground transfers, food and beverage, guest services, our stellar ski guides and pilots was 10/10. The rustic charm of the Town of Stewart, Ripley Creek Inn and the out buildings was perfect IMO....!!

4 days of low clouds kept us in the trees but with deep and very light powder. 5th day was classic blue-bird. 14 seemingly endless runs in bright sunshine above the treeline. The area is so huge that we kept going to new places instead of "farming" the same place over and over. My wife & I keep coming back here because of the huge terrain but also because the guides have the right balance between seriousness and having fun. Also because the lodge and cabins are "classic rustic", the food is amazing and the staff is very caring. On the other hand, it takes some effort to get there.

Have heli-skied several places. Poor experience with food, lodging, safety and management with Last Frontier. Many others on trip were also dissatisfied. Better care for customers and stronger terrain out of operations in Valdez, Alaska and Chugach.

LF is the best heli ski location in NA. Been to many others and having small helis which is small groups is great. The Tree ski is wonderful and the terrain goes on for ever. Lodge is nice and accommodation. It is a bit hard to get to but it is worth it.
