We stayed in a Lake View room. The room was immaculately clean, warm and comfortable with a lovely view over Lake Pedder. The amenities at the Lodge are great with a comfortable guest lounge, outdoor settings and a fitness centre. We enjoyed dinner in the Restaurant. The staff are very friendly, obliging and knowledgeable. The only suggestion would be to...

We spent 1 night at the lodge. We loved it. The room was clean and tiddy. We had a view of Pedder lake wich was really nice. We had drinks at the bar and talked with the nice locals and staff. Perfect place to stay to visit the area such as the Gordon Dam. At night, we went stargazing at...

A magic part of the world. We came down for a music festival and camped but the accommodation facilities looked good. Friendly staff, great facilities and a really relaxed vibe ensured a wonderful family weekend away. We will be back.

We spent one night in Pedder Wilderness Lodge, near the Strathgordon Dam. Our room was very basic, but clean, with an ensuite bathroom. The walls are paper thin so better not have noisy neighbours. Tea and coffee are available in the room. The restaurant of the hotel is great, with a beautiful view over the lake. They also serve continental...

I would like to take this opportunity thank each and every staff member in the lodge for their excellent customer service and for always going above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. The picturesque views from this venue makes it the most perfect setting for any occasion. I couldn't recommend taking a visit to this place any more. It's...

Accommodation was good but the facilities need some TLC. If you want to do any fishing, boating or canoeing you must take all your own equipment. 1 night was enough to experience the amazing forest and Gordon dam. The high light was when we were leaving visiting the Styx Big trees....a must.

Jackie S, Thanks for visiting and taking the time to write a review. I am a bit surprised by the comment regarding fishing, canoeing and boating? Unless the date of your visit is incorrect and you were here more than 4 months ago we actually have 4 Kayaks and 2 Boats that we offer guests for a very reasonable fee...

Lake Pedder is 80 kms from any other form of civilisation and offers stunning scenery, great fishing opportunities and other great outdoors activities. It's remoteness comes at price. There is no mobile phone service, general store or other facilities. You can buy fuel but it's expensive. However, you have to remember where you are. I booked a room in the...

Hi Ric O, Thank you for staying at Pedder Wilderness Lodge and for taking the time to write a review. The lack of mobile coverage is sometimes a blessing. It allows us to decompress and sometimes even gives a great excuse to be unreachable. Having said that, I can relate to guests wanting to keep in touch and sometimes "technology withdrawals'....

We spent a night recently at the Pedder Wilderness Lodge in Strathgordon and it was great. Good clean quiet rooms, friendly staff, good base to explore the Strathgordon area, nice restaurant on site and affordable. Nice views of the lake, close to the dams which were good hikes. Nothing bad to say at all but wish we could have stayed...

This Lodge is located in a true Tasmanian wilderness area. Expect all sorts of weather. Exercise care when driving to this venue as you pass thru forests abounding with wildlife. The road is sealed, in good condition and quite bendy. The Lodge is positioned with fantastic views of Lake Pedder. The rooms and cottages are of a high standard, But...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pedder Wilderness Lodge is located right in the heart of Tasmania's Southwest National Park which is part of Tasmania's World Heritage Area. Recognised as one of the world's extraordinary natural wonders by the World Heritage Commission, it is to be protected forever from human intervention. One tree, which now sits out the front of the Lodge, was cut down in the 1970's before this protection was in place. The great Huon pine, which is about the width of a car, has its rings marked all the way back to the birth of Christ. Our surrounds, from which this great Huon came, boast everything from ancient awe-inspiring landscapes with boulders from the Jurassic period, striking mountains and lush sub-alpine rainforests with monolithic trees which range from centuries to thousands of years old, all the way to the modern man-made Gordon Dam which offers one of the world's top ten adrenaline activities. With accommodation for all types of travellers, Pedder Wilderness Lodge offers a relaxing and warm environment with a focus on fine Tasmanian food, wines and produce. With sweeping views of Lake Pedder and Twelvetrees Range you could not find a more perfect place to escape, explore, relax and enjoy our hospitality. ... more   less
