Travelers often commend Dakota Edinburgh for its professional service and immaculate cleanliness, with special mentions of spotless rooms and comfortable beds. The hotel's amenities and stylish decor contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, although some guests find the rooms too dark and the music selection occasionally inappropriate. Despite its convenient location near transport links, the value is questioned due to perceived high costs and additional charges for services. While the overall experience is quiet, a few have noted intermittent noise disturbances.

We had a great time during our stay. The room was not too small, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure and the hot water lasted a long while. The food at the restaurant was fantastic and our bartender and waiter were so kind and friendly. All the employees were helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Booked a two night stay with my husband for our anniversary. The hotel is very nice, the dark decor gives it a cosy feel and although it was quite busy, it was very quiet. Unlike manynother hotels, we barely heard any noise from the corridor, or from outside. From check-in to check-out, every member of staff we met with was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and when we returned later in the afternoon, we found the room freshened up and the towels replaced.

We had dinner in the restaurant the first evening. The staff asked if we had any dietary requirements and my husbands requirements were met. As it was our anniversary, we were treated to a glass of fizz and canapés. The food was delicious as were the cocktails. The only negative were that the canapés and fries with the main were too salty.

We had breakfast the first morning which was the usual choice of cooked.breakfast and buffet options, that you would expect. Again, the food was tasty and good quality and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We will be back to this hotel and may upgrade to a suite next time.

The sheets were spotless and crisp, the towels were so comfy and plush and the bed was quite comfortable. Even though the hotel is close to the highways, it wasn’t loud at all. Reserve for the Grill ahead of time or you may miss out as there aren’t other restaurants that close, especially late in the evenings. It was great that public transportation was available however I found asking the front desk for taxi service was the most efficient to get into town.

Booked a nights stay as we had been given a Dakota hotel voucher as a present.
First stressful thing was the email voucher. It said to print out, no copies etc. Not having a printer we thought it would be ok to call and use the code attached. We decided to put extra towards a lazy Sunday package to save having to travel out for meals and experience the hotel itself.
Then when you look at the hotels website under “specials” a lazy Sunday , it says £20 allocated per person for evening meal or under “book a room” for a lazy Sunday it said Sunday special meal which would be £35 each for a 3 course meal etc or £35 per person from grill menu. Girl on the phone when we called to book said £35 allocated. This was fine for us as the basic price for the room plus a breakfast and dinner and possible complimentary late check till 1pm on the Monday came to just slightly more than you would pay individually.
Still a faff when we checked in as accounts need a paper voucher. Surely in this day and age when you can travel round the world paperless this gift shouldn’t have been so stressful.

Room given slightly earlier which was nice and cosy, decor as expected. Only had a shower which is a minus for me. Shower hose needed a bit more cleaning.
For dinner given menu for Sunday specials. Server didn’t seem to know how lazy Sunday worked when we asked.
For mains we both chose fish and chips was it was the only choice we would have eaten. It looked lovely but batter on both our fish was very undercooked. I could not eat mine as batter was too raw. I pointed this out when our plates were collected and was told the chef said my main would be deducted as it was not up to standard, so ÂŁ25.00!! was deducted for my fish. Service charge is also added additionally.

Breakfast was even more disappointing. Probably the poorest selection I’ve had. Don’t know if this was normal or if hotel had run out of stuff after a busy weekend. Don’t drink tea or coffee so asked for a hot chocolate instead. Not sure if this was charged extra in addition to the £20 breakfast as drinks bill didn’t add up!
We had eggs Benedict . This normally means a toasted muffin but it was just served on a plain toasted roll. Not even a croissant to be had.

We checked out after breakfast. We initially seemed to be getting charged for a late check out too and told the evening meal was covered. I pointed out that I’d been told that a main was to be deducted but nothing had. It seemed we were reluctantly then given a couple of drinks we had had free instead of the meal deduction as nobody seemed to know what to do.

I’d stay again but eat elsewhere as there is a lovely selection of restaurants in South Queensferry.

Staff were all very pleasant but our stay was not the “seamless blend of Relaxation” as described on the hotels website.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon, ten of my immediate family in 5 rooms, all were arriving at separate times but as it happened 8 of us arrived more or less together.
I paid £2880 immediately for our stay. We had booked dinner for 6 of us and as there was now 8 of my family I asked to increase the table size, they refused saying that they were fully booked. I initially accepted this which meant that two of my children would eat apart from us but that was all that we could do. When we sat down for dinner we realised that the table was a generous size and could easily accommodate 8 people with the addition of two further chairs, I requested this, the restaurant manager refused saying that it would” compromise the high standards of service” they offer, I said don’t worry because there wouldn’t be starters or desserts, just mains and we would understand if their standard was “ compromised “ they still refused saying that they didn’t have two spare chairs in the hotel, I said I had 3 spare chairs in my room, the same chairs as the restaurant, he still refused, this time he was out of excuses and simply said no. I left the table so as to not make a scene and I requested the hotel manager, he arrived after 15 minutes only to be even less helpful, he reiterated the restaurant managers position and said that he agreed with it, when I asked why he said it was “ company policy” he said as a compromise he would allow 8 people to leave the dining room and eat at the bar ! It was now one hour since I left the table and he had run out of pathetic excuses but he wouldn’t give in, he just looked at me in a strange manner. I requested to speak to his superior, he was on holiday, I asked for the next level up, I was told that he was also on holiday, I calmly asked for the owner, he lives in Monaco, I was informed. I asked the manager to follow me into the restaurant, I went to the table, moved the chairs and there was an abundance of space for two more chairs, I offered to get my chairs and at this point, 90 minutes after arriving in the restaurant, he reluctantly conceded and miraculously found two additional chairs and laid up the table for 8. I have asked for senior management to contact me, nothing received. A pathetic waste of time from pathetic, immature people. I left today £3300 lighter, never again in a Dakota Hotel.

Dear Michael M, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us following on from your stay with us here in Dakota Edinburgh. I am still desperately disappointed that you have been left underwhelmed with your interactions with both our Senior restaurant team as well as myself and that you feel the resolve to have been distressing in any way on the night. I can only hope that, once seated, that you enjoyed your time in our Grill, however, I would be remiss if I did not express my sincerest apologies that you feel your whole experience to have been marred in this instance and that we may not have the opportunity to welcome you again to us here at Dakota. As mentioned on the night, please do not hesitate to contact myself directly on cc@edb.dakotahotels.co.uk should there be anything further you wish to discuss at this time or in the future. Hubby and I needed a place close to the airport to crash before we rented a car the next day. This hotel isn't that close to the airport and I picked it because of the airport shuttle. But we got in on a sunday evening and there wasn't a shuttle available. All hotels close/in/near the airport didn't have great reviews so I chose the Dakota and it was a great choice. We did have to take a taxi there from the airport which was a bit pricey, but the hotel provided a shuttle to the airport the next morning. They are so accomodating and made sure the shuttle experience went effortlessly. The bed was so comfortable, the shower pressure was strong and the hot water was instant. The hotel had a very classy, upscale vibe and our room was really big and cozy. There is a Tesco (supermarket) nearby within walking distance so we picked up water and dinner there. The front desk was so friendly and accomodating and the smells coming from the restaurant smelled amazing. I'm sure that restaurant was delicous! We were just too tired to sit and eat! There was coffee in the room so I didn't have to worry about that the next morning and they also did have complitmentary water. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

My wife and I booked an overnight at this lovely hotel for a special occasion. It was our wedding anniversary on our arrival day and my wife’s birthday the next. We had never stayed here before but had heard great things about the Dakota in Glasgow and as we live close to Glasgow decided to travel further afield. Even on approach the hotel looks stunning with the entire building being a lovely slate colour. A very nice young girl checked us in and to our delight informed us that we had been upgraded to a suite. The room was fantastic with a great view down towards the Forth Bridge. We felt very special. I had booked the indulgence package as a surprise for my wife. She was delighted with the champagne, chocolates and even more so the petals on the bed. The meal in the restaurant at night was great and served by very attentive and chatty staff as was breakfast the following morning. We were made to feel very important here and the service we received made our special occasion even more of an occasion and we will almost certainly return here again in the future. A great big thank to everyone who helped make our stay a great experience.

I feel this hotel has put most of its effort into looking good rather than thinking about the guest experience. Small things like no plug sockets near the bedside table. Room service menu rather limited and not 24hr. No space available in the restaurant for an evening meal even if you are a hotel resident. In terms of food, I eventually had a simple fish and chips but it wasn’t great. It was served with skinny fries which doesn’t work in this type of dish, and no tartare sauce was served with it. The mushy peas were more like a soup. I also ordered a glass of wine which initially was forgotten about but came after I reminded them and was the most disgusting glass of wine I’ve had in a long time. Couldn’t finish it. So no effort has gone into picking drinkable house wines. The room itself looks nice but is weirdly dark because the window is rather small and covered by a heavy blind. Bed was very comfy though and the aircon worked well, which was great as I usually find hotel rooms far too hot and stuffy. The bathroom was nice and clean although the facilities are lacking the small details you find in top hotels (no vanity mirror; toilet seat not soft close). Overall, staying in this hotel was a bit of a mixed experience. I was only staying here because the Hilton in North Queensferry was full and I think in future I would only stay here again if the Hilton was full.

Dear Stress_bunny_43, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with some feedback from your recent stay at Dakota Edinburgh. I am sorry to hear that we did not live up to your expectations on this occasion. Whilst negative feedback is never pleasing to read, it is vital for us to listen and react to comments that will help us improve. We actively encourage feedback as we pride ourselves on providing the best guest experience. We are continuously making changes to improve the hotel, for example we are in the process of painting all of our bedrooms a lighter shade, along with placing more plug sockets in our bedrooms. It is only through guests feedback that these areas are highlighted. Our Food and Beverage Management Team put a lot of effort in to creating our Wine Lists, and each of them have undergone an intense WSET (Wines and Spirits Educational Trust) course to ensure we are hand picking the best produce possible, however I will be sure to pass on your feedback. Once again thank you for your feedback, I do hope that we can one day have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Dakota, and kindly ask that should you wish to return, that you email myself directly on guestrelations@edb.dakotahotels.co.uk. I was in the executive suite, but viewed most rooms, decor & internals are mostly of the same high standard and except for maybe the few extra mirrors & walk-in wardrobe I would say the size is the most significant factor. In other words, unless like me (wedding ) plenty of space is not a priority, the standard room will be just as nice. Hope that helps.
