Just spent 2 nights. The price is right and the location great, but… the bed was terrible mattress so hard. Our shower curtain had lots of mildew! And no hot water in the sink. Otherwise, the rest of the room pretty clean. The person who checked us in was wonderful and helpful. If you go, have a meal at the Irish pub across the street!

We enjoyed our stay here. Staff members were very pleasant. The hotel has an older look, furnished very creatively. All of the rooms I saw had themes, and the ones we stayed in were elaborate and fun. Beds were comfortable, comfortable chairs. Some other reviews mentioned just a trickle of water from the sink - that was true in my room, but the shower pressure was good. My one complaint is the amenities: no ice machine and no coffee in the morning. There is a coffee shop next door, but they open at 8:30. There is enough coffee in the room to make 2 small cups. The coffee situation was bleak. Aside from that, very good.

We had to arrive later than anticipated due to a plane delay. The proprietor was very nice- told us how to access our key from the lockboxes outside and to not park in the parking garage as they close it Saturday night and don't open it until Monday morning. It was challenging to find street parking- we had to park 3 blocks away. Our room was large and clean. On the plus side, the Inn is right in the center of town so there is plenty of walkable restaurants and shops. We were there during Covid so there was not a lot of night life and hence, not much nightlife noise. On the negative side, the sink in our room barely had a trickle of water from either tap. Thankfully the shower had good water flow. There was no provided hair dryer.

Hi Dr. Meow (love the name by the way) First i'd like to thank you for coming and staying with us, With everything going on right now it is truly a blessing for any hotel to have any guests. I'd also like to thank you and let you know how much we appreciate our guests reaching out and writing a review on the Inn. We welcome constructive criticism from all of our guests, If it wasn't for our guests opinions we wouldn't know what things need to be focused on and corrected first. Any prospective of our guests we can get is greatly appreciated as they see things from a different view than we do, And after all our goal is to provide everyone with a safe, clean, pleasant stay. I'm also happy that you found the after hours instructions easy to follow, With everything going on we aren't able to provide the same interaction we normally did with our guests, This is all a learning curve for us and we've been very fortunate that our guests are very understanding and kind. We've always have such amazing guests. I do want to apologize for the parking. I know it's such a mess right now. We are all hoping over time a more consistent schedule is put into place. Also, the plumbing is something we are still working on. Because the building is so old that's something that we have been working on. I understand how frustrating that can be, I do apologize for that. If there's ever anything we can do to provide a better stay for our guests we will do it. I hope we will get to have you come back in the future. Thank you again for your time :) Stay Safe

I had an incredible stay at the Charles Inn - it was centrally located to downtown and had a wonderful cafe attached to it where I got coffee and a pastry in the morning before heading out for the day. I had been concerned about parking, but it was always easy to find street parking near by. I stayed in the Derry, ME room, which is a MUST book for any fan of Stephen King/IT. The decor was the cherry on top of an already great trip, and was a special layer that other hotels couldn't provide! The room itself was clean, comfortable, and perfect to return to after a long day of exploring. Sandy and Mike are incredible hosts - from booking to check in to check out, they made sure it was a wonderful and seamless experience and really took care of me as a guest. For anyone looking to stay in downtown Bangor, I highly recommend booking a room at the Charles Inn.

Hi 726, Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us! This was such a great review. I love going on and seeing what people think of the Inn and how their stay went. This really made my day :) You guys were such great guests. With everything going on during covid season it's been so hard to have the full interaction we would normally have with our guests, so it's great to see the changes we've had to make are still keeping everyone happy. I do apologize for the whole parking situation, I know how confusing and stressful it can be. We hope over time, once things go back to the new normal everything will get on a more consistent schedule. One thing i really enjoy about the Inn and the themed rooms, Is reading our guests and trying to find the room that they would enjoy most. When people request a room (As you did) in some way you have an idea on what to expect, but it's so great to see everyone's reaction and also hear their opinion on things. Mike and I can't thank you enough for your kind words. Hopefully we will get to have you come and stay with us again in the future! As always if there's ever anything we can do to make your stay more pleasant just let us know. Stay Safe

This hotel has it's pluses and minuses. The drawbacks are that the hotel itself is old and a little run down. They have been working to improve it, but that takes time and money. Noise from the street can be loud, especially when there is live music outside. Parking can be difficult. On the plus side: the hotel has a lot of charm. Sandy and Mike were fantastic and upgraded our room. The bed is very comfortable, better than the cookie cutter chain hotels. The location is fantastic! You are right in downtown Bangor so when you step out of the hotel there are great restaurants and an amazing coffee shop right outside the door. You are also able to walk around downtown Bangor with ease (not that downtown Bangor is all that large).

Hi Michael, We love these types of reviews. They point out everything that our guests see when they're here so we know what should be focused on first when it comes to the renovations. We appreciate you taking a moment to let us know how everything went, and what your experience with us was like. Thank you for also pointing out how we are always working to improve things so we can provide our guests with a pleasant, comfortable stay. Being located right in the center of downtown does have it's advantages and disadvantages and you did great at explaining what some of those are so others can read this and know. We hope we will get to see you again, and by that time we will have more things done in the Inn! peoples expressions when they see the changes really does make it all worth it. It was great having you spend some time with us. Until next time, Stay safe and we wish you well.
