Bass Harbor Inn is the only place we stay for our yearly visits to MDI, eight times so far. If you want a standard hotel so you can feel like you are anywhere else in the US, I suppose you'd prefer one of the big hotels in Bar Harbor. We had to do that the one time we came in...

We were only here for 2 nights, but we liked it a lot. Barbara was very nice, she recommended some beautiful walking trails and sites to be seen. The room was comfortable with a good bed and a great view of the lake. The breakfast with homemade breads was tasty. We definitely recommend this place to anyone who is visiting...

This B and B is reasonably priced for this area. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a water view. The hosts were friendly and readily available if you needed something but other wise you were left alone. Breakfast was basic but fine and very informal. It consisted of fresh breads, cereal, blueberries, and good coffee. The inn does...

First, when reading others reviews, take stock of where the inn is, and what it is. This ain't the Hilton so don't expect it to be. Go to Bar Harbor, try one of the hotels, and compare the VALUE for your $$$$ My new wife and I were on our honeymoon. We are in our 50's and wanted to explore...

Poor upkeep and in need of updating and basic maintainance. Window coverings for privacy, and adult-size bath towels are basics missing from this inn. Easy walk to ferry and harbor. Quiet location. Disappointed and I won't be returning.

The Inn is lovely - our room was very comfortable and was decorated simply and tastefully. Breakfast was ample. The proprietors were very friendly and personal. Very nicely set on the quiet side of the Island, which suited us just fine.

Bass Harbor is a brilliant option if you want to get away from the maddening crowd. We were there over a weekend in September and huge cruise ships pulled into Bar Harbor making it rather touristy and overrun – were only too pleased to retreat to the quiet side of the island which is only a 30 minute drive from...

My wife and I stayed here for a few days. The people who run the bed-and-breakfast are helpful and friendly, and they know a lot about all of Mount Desert Island. The rooms are very clean, with fresh cut flowers from the garden. The area is quiet. All in all, it is the best bed-and-breakfast we have ever encountered. -...

This charming place with a view of Bass Harbor is quiet and friendly. The morning conversations are interesting. We have everything we need for a relaxing stay, while still in range of the fabulous Acadia National Park.

Unfortunately we could only stay one night the owner met us and was warm and friendly she gave us a free upgrade to a lake view room. It had a half bath (just a toilet and basin) with an open fire grate with wood to burn! The room was very comfortable with a lovely mix of old furniture rather than...

“The house sets back from the road and it is nice and quiet. If you want a larger room with kitchenette there is one on the third floor. Know that most rooms are going to require some stairs and these tend to be steep.”
