Barncastle was a very fine location for exploring northern Maine. Bluehill is central to most of Maine and easy to discover seashore and the interior of northern Maine. Not overcrowded like the southern coast. Close enough to visit Bar Harbor and all the other towns in the vicinity. The photographs on Rarncastle's website gives one the impression that the structure is quite large, thankfully it is of a small and more enjoyable size. The Staff could not have been more pleasant and thoughtful. The room was exceedingly comfortable. Thankfully we arrived after the Covid restrictions were greatly reduced. But this left them short-handed so that the restaurant was only serving Pub food in the evening. My wife and I enjoyed our short honeymoon and we suggest you book a stay as soon as you can.

We were searching for an unusual, last minute place to stay and boom! The Barncastle was perfect inside and out! Owners are welcoming and the food amazing. The room was beautiful and clean! I would definitely stay here again when we return!

Friendly owners. Very clean, spacious, comfortable room. Beautiful foyer and staircase. The only disappointment was the restaurant was not yet open due to lack of staff, but owner was very helpful in recommending other local dining options. Website was not updated to indicate current status.

We stayed here in September 2020. The location was fine; it's close to all the harbor towns, which makes exploring pretty easy. Our room was clean and large. The hotel sits very close to the road, so the traffic noise was annoying. (I live in the woods and am not used to hearing cars on the road.) We enjoyed the free tea and coffee in the morning.

The location was pretty nice, albeit a little out of the way to/from Acadia. The area is nice, but I wouldn't spend a full day there. The cleanliness was okay, but there was some dust and stuff lying around, all in all okay. However - I forgot to pack up my electrical toothbrush and left it in the room. Although being 100% sure that I brushed my teeth at the property in the morning and sending an email to them the next day, they claim to not have found my toothbrush. To me, cleanliness and security are the two things I am most concerned with in a booking, which sadly in this case, cost me my electric toothbrush. In my opinion, the owner was not nice and was even threatening me about writing a review. I don't care about that, I'd much rather warn others that they might loose things if staying here. Although I understand that it is an personal hygiene item, you can easily remove the brush head and you have a nice toothbrush worth €150. The breakfast was very basic and bread was stale - the basics were covered, but that's it.
