Detailed Reviews
My husband and I had the best view of the harbor on the top floor! Our deck wrapped around the side and front of our room. There is an overflow parking lot in case you cannot find a space in the main one. We had an excellent meal at the Coastal Prime restaurant! This restaurant has a lovely outdoor seating area with heaters, and they will give out blankets, if it gets too chilly. A front desk person wasn’t very helpful when asked certain things. The room was very nice, but our bed was too soft, and I would suggest better lighting over the sinks. The lights were very dim. All in all, I highly recommend this coastal resort.

This was our second stay at this resort. The room was nicely appointed and very clean. The staff was attentive and responsive. The restaurant had both a “gourmet” menu and a less expensive “bar” menu. While we did not golf at the nearby country club we did go for lunch. Dining on the deck overlooking the course was a real pleasure. We are already making plans for our next visit.

My wife and I spent 4 nights here. The hotel was fantastic and exceeded all our expectations. The hotel restaurant, Coastal Prime, is the best restaurant in the area (see my separate review). The hotel has a very large staff that provides top-notch, first class service. It was a common site seeing staff cleaning everything -- floors, all the hand rails, everything. Our hotel room was on a pier, which was over the water during high tide. We had a spectacular view of the harbor. The rooms (besides being super clean) were quiet and comfortable.

When initially called I was told there was only one room available, and there was a wedding there for the weekend. Called the next day to book and was told that there were several available and dissed the other employee. I asked for a quiet area away from any left over wedding parties and was ensured that the room I was put in would be quiet.
Arrived and had good check in experience. This hotel is revamped. Several gaps in the hotel room door letting in cool air and light. Wooded interior frame falling off. Towels were not very soft at all. Wife ordered chocolate martini and bartender/waiter brought out white chocolate one and said they were out of chocolate.
Was kept up until midnight by four parties on the balcony that were clearly drunk, loud and were possibly pirates. Contacted front desk and they handled appropriately. Spoke to general manager next morning after speaking to three people and she was very professional, apologetic and nice. NOT the hotel employees fault and they handled the issue well.
Expensive for this type of place.

A month before our trip to Boothbay, we were informed that the Bed and Breakfast we had reserved months ago was sold and our reservation would be transferred to the BBH Ocean Golf Resort. In that it was too late to make other reservations-and we thought staying in a “ golf resort” would be ok-we accepted the transfer. It turned out it was just ok. It certainly was no “resort” and was quite disappointing.
The good:The room was clean and the bed comfortable.
The property is well located and it is easy to walk into town across the adjacent foot bridge.
The bad:Maybe golf resorts are different in Maine, but this property is essentially a motel with outside entrances and plastic chairs in front of each room. Our view was of another hotel and a bus parking lot.
When we checked in we were told breakfast was not included (as it would have been at the B&B). We were told that the room was more expensive than what we would be charged at the B&B and that they were giving us the B&B price. That was their concession!! You would think that someone would have considered that it might be worth breakfast or even a token amount we could use toward breakfast, to compensate us for moving us to a motel when we obviously preferred a B&B “vibe”. It would have been a good marketing strategy to have us think positively about the move at the outset rather than what we felt, which was very disappointed. Needless to say, we cannot recommend this property unless you are looking to stay at an overpriced motel.

This is a beautiful waterfront hotel that is associated with The Boothbay Harbor Golf Resort. If you want to play the course you must stay here. There is a hotel shuttle that will take you to the course. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are spotless, comfortable and some have amazing views. We prefer rooms 210 or 208. They have a big private balcony with amazing views of the harbor. The rooms are spacious but the bathroom is tiny. Beds are very comfortable with nice linens. Other rooms we've stayed in are very small with hardly space to walk around the bed and a communal balcony serving all the rooms on the floor. We did not like that. The hotel has a fabulous restaurant that overlooks the water. The staff is exceptional and daily room refresh is available upon request. We love staying here for the golf and it's easy access over the footbridge into town for shopping and restaurants. Excellent service, incredible views, access to town and comfortable rooms equals a wonderful experience.

We had initially planned just a day trip to Boothbay, but had such a wonderful time (and lunch at Coastal Prime), we inquired if there were any rooms available to stay the night. Melissa, the general manager, was most gracious in finding a room for us over the busy July 4th weekend. She even provided us with tooth brushes and tooth paste! We were able to get the remaining additional items we needed at Hannaford. It's just a 20 min walk from the property.
Our room was super comfortable and well appointed. The bedding and robes are beyond luxurious.
We needed to get a super early start in the morning, so we grabbed coffee and made to order breakfast sandwiches in their cafe, which opens at 6:30am. Thankfully, they were able to make my sandwich on gluten free bread.

The website was a bit misleading. This is not really a golf resort. The golf course is several miles away and costs $250/round even for guests. Many of the pictures on the website are of the golf club. The hotel is nothing special. Many of the rooms have some water views but you sit outside your room on a walkway shared by all. It is more of what I would consider motel.
The restaurant is large and lovely, looking out on the harbor. The entrees are very expensive even by tourist standards. There is a large bar and patio space with dining tables but no real outdoor area for sitting and reading or enjoying the view.
Our room was small but clean. The towels were the best part.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
We were disappointed. We did not play golf.

I struggled to find the resort at this property. This place is anything but a resort. Resort implies that there are certain amenities to justify the price they charge for rooms. It’s a renovated motel, and not a good renovation. Wallpaper peeling, no sound proofing between the rooms, needs some serious maintenance, including paint. I stayed in a suite. They took 2 motel rooms and combined them into one. You can see where the door was for the second room because they did a crappy job sheet rocking it. . They charge a resort fee, but I’m not sure why. The pool and gym are 2 miles away, and you might be able to sit by the pool if members haven’t taken up all the chairs by the pool. They told me my room was on the first level, but it was actually up 2 flights of stairs and there was no bellhop to assist.
The pictures on the website are very deceiving and you will be surprised at what you find when you get there. The large deck is the only reason to come here. the views are spectacular and the sunsets are amazing, but is it worth the overpriced rooms? In my opinion, no. Parking is tight as well. No reserved parking for guests and no valet parking. If the lot is full of people coming for dinner/drinks, as a guest you are SOL.
there were signs everywhere saying that facemasks were required, but it was not enforced

I am sorry to hear that you did not fully enjoy your time with us during your past stay. It’s true that we are recently renovated; we’ve tried hard to keep the history of our property, which was built originally in the 1960’s and has hosted many a wonderful vacation, but update it to include modern amenities such as suites, renovated bathrooms, and updated central heating and air. I do apologize if there was not staff on hand to assist with your luggage. Please feel free to let our front desk know in the future and we are more than happy to assist in anyway we can. In past seasons we have offered Valet services but with the Covid era we did not feel it would be safe to have our staff entering guests’ vehicles. When we are a full house, like this past weekend, our parking lot can get tight as we are accommodating a 75-room resort and two dining spaces. We do offer overflow parking to the right of our regular parking lot. We do not charge a resort fee, access to the country club which includes the Wellness Center and additional dining options, are included in your stay. I see you also took advantage of our private Hinckley charters. I hope you enjoyed the two-hour cruise with a private captain, wine/beer, and gorgeous views of our harbor. I am sure you enjoyed the views from the boat just as much as you enjoyed the views from our large outdoor deck. Our staff works extremely hard to provide each guest with the best vacation possible, as evidenced by our many positive reviews. We have now implanted additional safety measures for all our guests including temperature checks before entering property, masks to be required in common areas, and UV lighting installed in our guest rooms, dining room, and kitchen. Although nobody is perfect, we are doing our absolute best to give guests an enjoyable and safe vacation space to get away from today's worries. I hope you are able to give us another chance to show you a spectacular time. Until then, travel well.

We got married up in Wiscasset, ME this past summer and worked with Sierra and Melissa at the Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Golf Resort to coordinate our welcome party, brunch and lodging for our guests. Not only is the resort and golf course beautiful but the team was amazing as we reviewed options, fine-tuned details and planned our events. Our guests loved congregating around the bar at Coastal Prime, soaking up the views from the deck and enjoying the amazing food in the dining room. Melissa and Sierra truly went above and beyond to help us plan, setup and host an unforgettable July 4th welcome party at the lobster dock next door that we will never forget. The rooms themselves were perfect for hosting 70-80 of our guests and it was such a treat to sip coffee on our balcony every morning overlooking the harbor. We will be back many more times!
