Love, love, love the Topside Inn. There’s so much to love. Perched on a hill just a 4-minute walk to the center of Boothbay Harbor, the inn’s rooms are super quiet, beautifully decorated and outfitted with very comfortable beds and pillows, as well as lovely toiletries and towels in the bathroom. We slept so well! Our room, and the common spaces, including the porch, were immaculate. Each breakfast was creative, delicious and nutritious with numerous choices, including homemade (on the spot) frittatas, doughnuts, muffins, fruit salad, lobster creole on grits. There is no other breakfast like it anywhere. The owners, Buzz and Mark, and the staff are friendly, helpful and very eager to please, greeting you upon arrival with a warm towel and cold drink (adult beverage if you choose) —-that so immediately puts you at ease and in vacation mode and grateful you chose to stay at the Topside! We have stayed in many, many hotels and inns around the world and this is one of our absolute favorites!

Beautiful accommodations and grounds nestled at the highest point n Boothbay. Visible team Mark, Buzz and LeaAnn run the Topside Inn with every decision coming straight from their hearts on how to best entertain and comfort their guests. The Inn and our room which was the carriage house are designed with a chic but comfortable coastal style. Beautiful white carpentry trim throughout the accommodations but also very thoughtful with a welcoming bar, reading room, breakfast room and dining area for their guests. All of the rooms have a fantastic view of the water and surrounding Boothbay downtown. Mark and Buzz are talented chefs who although make it look easy give you the feel that you are important with their lovely presentations and delicious breakfasts and treats. They have published a cookbook of their favorite menu items. I read it all the way home on the plane. Looking forward to trying many of the dishes and delighted to have it as a souvenir to remember the fabulous experience we had at their Inn. We love to travel and this has moved to the top of our lists. I am very selective where we stay and this surpassed my expectations on every level of cleanliness, comfort, available help, location and beauty. Bravo!

I've been valiantly trying to find complimentary words or comments that have not already been made about Topside but it appears others have the same reaction as we did. From the confirmation emails, to greeting us w/ delicious cocktails/snacks & warm towels, to the conscientious staff & last but certainly not least, our room in the Leeward building, we felt pampered & welcomed. The main building is stunning & historic but our # 25 room left us wanting for nothing. They even had clean, dry throws on each deck chair on the balcony for those chilly May evenings. Everything was meticulously clean & the ease of parking very close to our room was so appreciated with my husband being on crutches. Breakfast was one of the best we've ever had & Leanne .....🤗 Her genuine compassion & friendliness made us immediately feel comfortable & valued. We knew we were in a very special place & will also add this to our "repeat visit" list. Thank you, Topside, for being there & showing how well an inn can be run.

My husband and I spent three nights at the Topside Inn, and I have to say, it is by far the nicest place we have ever stayed! We stayed in the Leeward 25 and it was perfect! Plenty of room, beautifully decorated, and a balcony with a beautiful view of the harbor. When we first arrived, we were offered a welcome cocktail, and a cool washcloth to cool ourselves off. When we thought this place couldn't get any better, the next morning I went to the main inn (only a few steps away), to get coffee to have on our balcony. We were happily surprised to find the coffee cups were on a warming tray (we are a bit of coffee snobs!), and the creamer was served out of a beautiful urn. The attention to detail was just amazing! When we got to breakfast, it was small plates type items, but all fresh and fantastic, and you could have as many as you want. They were a bit busy the first day at breakfast, but they told us to just have a seat, and help ourselves to a warm donut while we wait-total class act at this place. The bar at the inn was a nice touch, as we enjoyed an afternoon cocktail before walking the short 5 minute distance into town. Book this place-you will not regret it!!

Wow! Where do I begin? From the moment of my arrival for a five night stay for an unbelievable wedding event, everything was perfect…. . The staff who greeted me and made me feel welcome every day…. Every moment from our arrival to our departure was magic. The hospitality was incredible and we felt right at home. The linens were the best I’ve experienced at an inn, the views were spectacular from every point of the property, and the delightfully curated breakfast we enjoyed while overlooking the bay is why we will be coming back!

Topside Inn knows how to do IT right, and what I mean when I say "IT", I mean everything!! From the start of the reservation process in talking with Rebecka, she recommended the perfect room for our anniversary celebration. The room was beautifu, cozy with the fireplace, and the patio view was wonderful. One of our highlights was the "Cookie Du Jour." Every day there was a different homemade cookie in the lobby. The oatmeal raisin was my favorite and my husband's was the chocolate peanut butter. But honestly I had a hard time choosing. The gourmet breakfast left me speechless everyday. Again it was hard to choose a favorite morning....might have to be the carrot cake pancakes with maple cream cheese drizzle. Mark, Buzz and Rebecka were perfect hosts. Their advice was helpful in our planning. The very informative and beautiful website was a great launch to my planning.... and always quick with a suggestion while we were there. Their staff were also phenomenal. Their prime location made us feel away from the hustle and bustle of town, but it is convenient enough to walk into town within minutes. All I can say is if your travels bring you to Boothbay Harbor, look no further than Topside Inn for deluxe accommodations and a memorable stay.

The Topside Inn has the most welcoming environment - with attention to detail that goes above and beyond expectations. Location is the best in Boothbay Harbor with picturesque views of the harbor and a very short walk to the town center. Rooms are beautifully appointed and breakfast is incredibly delicious. The owners, Mark & Buzz,, the GM Rebekah, and the entire staff ensure a wonderful stay from checkin to checkout. There's 24-hour coffee/tea service and the afternoon cookies are divine. Cocktails in a comfortable bar/lounge setting are available for purchase in the early evening until 7:00pm. I can't say enough about the Topside Inn. Definitely a must-stay when you're in Boothbay Harbor!

My husband and I spent a weekend here for our anniversary in July and could not have been more delighted. From the warm greeting we received, to the fun treats provided, everyone on the team here immediately makes you feel welcomed and relaxed. The guest rooms and common rooms alike are beautiful. Looking around you can tell great thought has been lovingly put into every single detail by the innkeepers. The overall effect is laid back luxury where you feel absolutely pampered but also completely at ease. It’s like staying with friends who have incredible taste and are also excellent cooks! There are little touches everywhere like a fully stocked guest kitchen and crates of blankets and sunscreen on the porch. Everything is spotless. The breakfasts and afternoon cookies alike were absolutely delicious. Bar One had truly wonderful cocktails. And of course my favorite part - the view - was just gorgeous. We spent plenty of time just sitting in the many Adirondack and rocking chairs soaking it in. This is truly a special place that has been designed and cared for by a team that obviously loves what they do.

We all know about the many challenges that Covid-19 has presented for the hospitality industry. And being able to adapt can determine whether some businesses will fall by the wayside as victims, or survive and continue, to what will hopefully be better times ahead.
My wife and I just returned from five nights at the inn, our eighth stay. We were scheduled to be in Ireland celebrating our 25th anniversary, but Covid took care of that. So we said, another visit to our favorite inn would be the next best thing.
The outdoor check in area with Prosecco welcome was perfect, and Rebecca went over the changes made necessary by Covid. Mark spotted us and welcomed us back. Keys were left in the room and we headed there with our few bags.
On the way to the room we noticed that the adirondack chairs on the lawn were set in groups of two and separate from other groups. And there are several small picnic tables also available.
We found a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us on ice with a greeting congratulating us on our anniversary. Very thoughtful (and handy for breakfast mimosas!).
Each room now has a Nespresso machine with cream, sugar, etc. for coffee. And each frig now has several wines and beers, at very reasonable prices, that can be added to your tab at checkout. A large tote is left for used towels to be placed just outside the room, and is replaced with fresh of the same daily. Clipboards are left on the exterior wall with both a menu to select your next mornings breakfast items as well as any additional glassware, towels, reading materials, etc.
Breakfast is delivered in one of three selected time periods and a knock on the door lets you know it has arrived. There was absolutely no drop off in quality at breakfast, and you won't go hungry! As usual the boys come up with awesome selections. After breakfast put your dirty items back in the tote and place outside the room. So no one ever enters unless you want them to. And any staff we did encounter, as well as other guests, were masked if social distancing was not possible.
Checkout was again seamless. They ask that you open all windows and turn the ceiling fan to high in order to do a thorough exchange of the air in the room.
We just received an email from Mark and Buzz asking what might have been done to make our stay more enjoyable. My wife and I thought for a moment and concluded that we could not think of anything to be done better.

Hello,
We have three vacation homes where pups are welcome. Two homes, Dock View and the Boat House are located below the inn on Commercial Street and the third, Water's Edge Cottage is a few minutes away on Linekin Bay. These homes can be found on our website under STAY - Boothbay Vacation Homes. These are great options for dogs, families and small groups who want more private space.
We do not have any pet-friendly rooms at the inn. We have a mini golden doodle, Brusier, who stays home (our house is next door), but will visit upon request. Thank you.

Hello,
Since purchasing the property in 2014, we have renovated both guesthouses (Windward and Leeward), completely, down to the studs. When we rebuilt the buildings, we added insulation in all floors, walls and new ceilings. Our guests are also very respectful for the most part. We rarely receive any noise complaints, and when we do, the guests have brought it to our attention as more of an FYI than a true complaint, possibly a guests speaking on a cell phone on a porch.
