Detailed Reviews
The room was clean and mostly comfortable, but we were given a first-floor room whilst the elevator was out of order. Reception staff said our room was just at the top of the stairs which was not correct (it was at the end of the hallway) so as we had a lot of luggage, we asked for a room on the ground floor but were told there were not any. Again, after the first night stay, I checked and was told that there was rooms available on the ground floor...not happy with that!!!! There are no places to eat near the hotel so you will need transport to get to any.

Best in the area. All of the hotels around here are older and worn; but, this one is clean and quiet. It is much larger than it appears from the street. We would stay here again. The breakfast had make your own waffles, eggs, sausage, and the usual bagels, bread, cereal, milk, coffee juice.

Nice hotel, right off Rt. 1. Hotel looks small from the road, but has a large extension behind it. Check in was quick and easy. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. Lobby area was nice, with open staircase and fireplace. Breakfast bar is opposite the check in desk.
We had a ground floor room with two double beds. The beds were comfortable and I slept well. Room was quite. Also in the room were a large screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, desk, and upholstered chair, with foot rest.
The bathroom was only large enough for one person at a time. Shower/tub combo. There was a working (and quiet) exhaust fan. Hot water was adequate. The shower control knob was very finicky to adjust, small adjustment resulted in huge temperature swings. The shower head has more than one setting. There was also a area right outside the bathroom with a mirror and counter, so two people could get ready at the same time.
The breakfast bar was decent: premade egg/cheese omelette, sausage links, make your own waffle stand, variety of breads & bagels, yogurts, boiled eggs, fruit, breakfast cereals/oatmeal packets, juices, and coffee. The dining area was busy, but there always seemed to be a seat available. The attendant was busy cleaning and refreshing supplies.
We were here only one night and enjoyed our stay. We will likely stay here again.

The hotel was a bit rundown. Rugs were worn and lumpy. they only have two luggage carriers and one elevator. if your room is in the back you have a long walk. We were in room 236 it had an old A.C. unit so it made a lot of noise and leaked water. If you stay make sure your room has a Frigidaire A.C.unit it's newer and quieter. The beds are old mattresses very poor quality. They only change your bedding every three days. towels if left on the floor were changed each day. Breakfast was ok though they only had one person working the area. they also only had one coffee urn for regular, decaf and forget hot water for tea it was Luke warm. Places to eat we went to Cooks Lobster house pretty good.

Dear RubenNewyork, We appreciate the review and are sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay. I have addressed your concern regarding the AC Unit with the engineering department. I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the comfort of your mattress, many people rave about them as they are top of the line Serta Pillow Top mattresses. Regarding your linens being changed, this is now a common industry wide practice but we would have been more than happy to change them more frequently had you asked.

Pluses: price, pillows, breakfast
Minuses: squeaky bed, cleanliness, smokers
Upon check-in, there is a sign that housekeeping would not be provided daily due to staffing shortage, which I am fine with, but there was a lot of deferred-maintenance things that made me uncomfortable, including lots of mold inside the shower handle and under the lip of the sink, very dusty vents on the AC, and a stained comforter cover. The first night there was either a guest or employee smoking in an adjacent room or in the hallway. When I complained to the front desk, they assured me that it must have been a guest and that they had checked out, but it continued each night I was there and the smoke smell was obvious throughout the lobby and first floor.

Honest review here. From the outside this place is very welcoming. Front desk and entrance area appears clean. Staff was welcoming.
However, once checked in and walking to our room, the smell is horrible. The carpet and hallways had a bad odor. When we opened the door to our room, it was even worse. We sprayed perfume to mask the smell but it was difficult.
The Ac was loud and was leaking water on the carpet.
The worse was the toilet! It was disgusting. This is a hotel and a toilet lid is not that expensive. This should’ve been replaced a long time ago! I attached a picture. Also it kept clogging and we had to request a plunger which they brought to us
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I rather pay more next time for a better hotel. Lesson learned!

We stayed at this excellent motel 2 nights. Our room was fully accessible. Comfy king bed, good A/C, plenty ice, very clean. Wonderful breakfast - egg omelet, sausage links, waffles, bagels, muffins, hard boiled eggs, oranges, apples, cereal, juice. yogurt.

We only stayed here because it was a decent value for a stop between Salem and Bar Harbor. Any papers in our room were soon moist...apparently they have no humidity control? Breakfast was pretty bad. The premade egg and cheese omletes came out of the kitchen and were immediately cold. Waffles were fine. For some reason they had a tip jar out, so I guess the patrons have to help pay the salaries of the dining room worker here?

In general, this is a decent hotel. The desk staff were nice, rooms were clean, and the breakfast was good. The only problem is that some of the rooms do not have shades. When we were checking in, another guest was complaining about this to the front desk worker. She seemed aware of the problem and offered to try to move her to another room. Once we got into our room and it got darker, we understood what the issue was. There was only a sheer drape on the window — it was easy to see outside and the room was filled with light from the street light. When I called the front desk, she offered to see if she would move us to another room. My husband was ill and he just couldn’t face packing back up and moving. At 5am the next morning, we were awoken by the sunrise. We were able to read in the room without any lights on. When I filled out the survey e-mailed to us by the hotel chain, we got a “form letter”-type response. It is clear that the hotel is aware of the problem and aren’t I tested in fixing it. This seems a shame because it is a decent hotel. When you book a room, be sure to ask for a room with a darkening shade.

Dear Tracy, I'm happy to report that since your stay in July all of our guest rooms have room darkening shades. During your stay back in July we were in the process of replacing our guestroom drapes and the company responsible for that changeover came with the wrong draperies so there was a week stretch where unfortunately some of our rooms didn't have the darkening shade and I apologize that this wasn't communicated at the time. Thank you for your kind words in regards to the other areas of the hotel, and we hope to have the pleasure to see you again so you can see our new draperies, we love them!

Very disappointed. I read the reviews for this which were mostly good. This looks cute when you pull up but inside you can tell that it’s older. The halls still have that stale cigarette smell. Upon entering the room it smelled heavily of Fabreze, assuming to mask the old smell. The bathroom was updated, so that was decent but very small. Breakfast options were a breakfast burrito, which was a taco shell and scrambled eggs, cereal or a muffin.
Not fault of theirs but we had a really hard time finding a place to eat. The nicer places are not open every night due to staffing shortages.
I would avoid staying in Brunswick altogether. This was my one and only chance to. Susie Maine and left disappointed.

I'm sorry but no pets accepted at this location
Access is controlled by your door key. I would assume that quiet visitors would be permitted.
I apologize but that review you may have seen about us having a pool and being on the river was inaccurate, we are not on the river nor have a pool, I've been in contact with Trip Advisor to have that comment removed. Thank you for that question.
