The Camden Maine Stay Inn is an elegant bed-and-breakfast inn that is open for year-round enjoyment. The charming, relaxed and friendly Inn was built in 1802, is the second oldest residence in Camden and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Each of the eight beautiful, romantic guest rooms has its own distinctive character. Many rooms in the Inn have wide-plank wood floors that are original to the house, and several rooms have old-fashioned gas heating stoves or fireplaces. Guests can socialize in our comfortable living room, play or listen to the antique Steinway grand piano in our parlor, or relax in front of the fireplace and watch a favorite TV show or movie in our den. The Inn has a spacious, beautifully landscaped garden adjacent to the house which includes walking paths, sitting areas and a stream flowing from nearby Mt. Battie. A full gourmet breakfast is included with your room and homemade cookies, coffee and tea are available every afternoon and evening.

My wife and I have been repeat guests of the Camden Maine Stay Inn for around 5 years and have known both inn keepers. It has always been lovely, but since Janis and Peter bought it, this beautiful house has become a second home for us and we look forward to at least one visit per year. This is both to luxuriate in the beautiful B&B and Camden, but also to catch up and visit with Janis and Peter (and Patty the dog and Einstein the cat!). They have always been so welcoming to us and we often find ourselves talking to them for hours. They also continuously upgrade the Inn, so there is always something to discuss in regards to plans for the future. The location is great, as one can easily walk into town without needing to secure parking. It also is located such that, if coming from the North (our most frequent direction of travel), the mid-day traffic back-ups can often be avoided. The food is excellent, as is the coffee (and I detest most B&B/hotel coffee), rooms are absolutely stunning, property is a destination in itself, and they have modern HVAC (minisplit) in each room. As someone who has spent somewhat laughable money on some very high end establishments in New England, only to find a stuffy/hot room, it's very nice to know that comfort will be guaranteed, no matter the outside conditions. Lastly, for those of us with EVs, they have up to 80A, Level 2 charging for both Tesla and J1772. This is the highest rating possible, so freedom to travel should not be a concern. We cannot recommend this establishment more highly, even without considering the reasonable pricing!

Property's Favourite Review
We spent 4 nights here last week. If you're looking for the quintessential historic Maine inn, in one of Maine's most gorgeous historic fishing villages, look no further. The Camden Maine Stay Inn will check off all of your boxes. The inn is stunning and decorated with beautiful period furniture, impeccably cared for. We slept so soundly here. The yard and gardens are stunning as well, perfect to sit out in the afternoon with a glass of wine. The innkeepers Pete and Janice (and their beautiful daughters) were so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They gave us great ideas for exploring. Now, the breakfasts......are NOT to be missed! Janice and Pete made and served us the most incredible breakfasts we've ever had at any inn (and we travel a lot)! The spectacular french toast with a delicious filling, the waffles, dropped eggs and frittata's were all served with fresh fruit bowls and local bacon, sausage and veggies. All the food locally sourced and prepared perfectly. We can't say enough about our stay, a keeper for sure. We'll be back! Thanks again to Pete and Janice for such a wonderful stay!! Anne and Jim Kingston, Ma.

Anne and Jim, Thank you for your perfect review!!! Peter and I so much enjoyed your recent stay with us. We love it when our guests are here for multiple days and get to experience so many of the activities and attractions that are available in and around Camden. When we are not busy with our guests we like to go exploring to find new places to recommend to our guests and it's nice to hear that we helped you enjoy your trip. I love to cook and feed people and you have made my day with your compliments on our breakfasts! Peter and I look forward to seeing you again!!! Janis

My wife and I were looking for a nice country style bed and breakfast inn, in a nice small town. We stumbled upon this inn that was just such a "great find". For a reasonable price we were able to get a nice suite 1 1/2 bedrooms with a cozy sitting room. It was totally private and rustic. What made the difference were the owners (Janis and Peter) of the inn that made our stay a "home away from home". The breakfast each morning was just delicious and varied everyday....all ingredients made from scratch with a lot of effort and pride into its making. We were given a nice tour of the inn and grounds before seeing our room, we also got a great packet of information of nearby restaurants and sightseeing ideas from the ocean to hiking. This inn is set in a nice town Camden whose main street and waterfront are only a short walk away. The owners took a lot of trouble in helping us find the right hikes and sights for our interest levels. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there even though it was the tail end of April (which is really the offseason). I am envisioning it would be even better during busy summer season. We were very comfortable with all the COVID precautions at the inn. We met a lot of couples during breakfast who had the same opinions of the place. We highly recommend this inn to newbies visiting or folks returning to Maine.

I recently had a chance for a mom‘s getaway and I was lucky to find this gem! The owners were gracious hosts who made me feel right at home. The included 2-course breakfast was delicious. They went above and beyond in making sure that I had everything that I needed for a relaxing weekend. The location is perfect, as it is a short walk to town, the harbor and a quick drive to Camden Hills State Park. I can’t wait to go back!

We have stayed at the Maine Stay before but not for a few years. It is better than ever. We are very cautious about traveling because of COVID. We have not left Maine because of this, but there is so much to see right here! The Inn is absolutely spotless. We were very comfortable and look forward to another stay sometime soon. Breakfast was amazing both days and if I were told that Janis is a chef at a high end restaurant I would certainly believe it. Her meals are perfect in every way, both in presentation and wonderful flavors. Janis and Peter are the most welcoming innkeepers we have ever had the pleasure of meeting and their way of making you feel you are right at home makes your stay a pleasure in every way. We stayed in the Common Ground room. It is large and has all the amenities you would find in any high end hotel, everything you will need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing is right there. The Inn is located less than a half mile from the center of Camden, an easy walk if you are able to do so or a very short drive if you prefer. Camden is a great little town, and as you likely know, Maine is known for it's seaport towns. This one is one of the best. Being from Maine we have stayed at many of the towns along the coast. If you are looking for a "Maine Experience" go to Camden and stay at the Camden Maine Stay Inn. it is the best of the best both for comfort and hospitality. The price is right and you will get far more than you expected to get. Do not pass on breakfast, it is amazing. There is always coffee and tea available in the kitchen and you may take it to your room.

THANK YOU! What a wonderful review!!! Peter and I were happy that you chose to stay at the Inn again and to hear that you had such an enjoyable stay in Camden. We take COVID seriously and have implemented even higher standards of cleanliness and are glad to know that you felt safe with us. I want to take a moment to thank you for the compliments on my cooking. While I wish that I could have gone to culinary school, I am just a "home cook" who enjoys feeding people! Peter and I love to talk with our guests, get to know them, and ensure that their vacation with us is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. So it is gratifying to both of us to read your review! We love Camden and hope to show it to many more guests in the future! Janis
