Headed to the Hartstone on the recommendation from friends for a two night solo midweek getaway. While it was too cold and windy to spend much time outdoors, I appreciated the very central location with coffee, a market and a pharmacy within a block or two. The room and its fireplace, was bright and comfortable - homey vs. luxurious. Dinner took things to a new level, with an ambitious menu and more formal (if slightly rushed) service orchestrated by a brigade of friendly servers and food runners. The lobster dish was a standout, and I appreciated the chef/owner dropping by to say hello. Even with a cocktail and a bottle of wine, dinner was a steal. The Hartstone is a very professionally run inn, that balances sophistication with warmth and informality. Highly recommended!

Nestled away in the Maine midcoast town of Camden is the picturesque Hartstone Inn. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights over Thanksgiving 2020 and had an amazing experience. The innkeepers took all the necessary COVID-19 precautions, including contactless check-in and check-out, and our room was extremely clean and quiet. The shining star of our stay was the food. Friends, it is truly outstanding! Each breakfast, that is covered within the cost of your nightly stay, includes both a sweet and savory treat, and the 4-course Thanksgiving dinner was outstanding. Dare I say... even better and more memorable than the neighboring Primo restaurant in Rockland. We did not have the opportunity to take advantage of the complimentary tea time from 3-5pm each day, which includes cookies and tea, plus happy hour discounts on alcoholic drinks, but I am confident that it is all equally as enjoyable. We purchased a cookbook from the inn owner, Michael Salmon, with the hopes of trying to replicate some of his yummy dishes. If you are local and in need of a lovely getaway or just want an amazing dinner, I highly recommend Hartstone Inn. It is a short drive from Portland and will not disappoint.

Just spent a wonderful weekend away, our 3rd to be exact, at the beautiful Hartstone Inn. This year more than ever we all need a change of scenery from being stuck at home and getting away to the Hartstone Inn was just what we needed! The Inn keepers, Michael and Mary Jo, and their staff make you feel so welcome and have taken every precaution to also make you feel safe. We can’t say enough about the absolutely delicious food they serve(we are 2 foodies who love to eat) as it truly is some of the best meals we have ever enjoyed. Breakfast is included and certainly isn’t your standard fare- we enjoyed Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon with a small cup of oatmeal garnished with pistachios, golden raisins and maple syrup! Their 3 course dinner is memorable as well and at $40 per person an incredible meal at a very reasonable price. But it’s also the little things that make it so special. The amuse bouche before dinner, the complimentary appetizer with your cocktails as well as fresh cookies and tea in the afternoon. They also offer cooking classes at the Inn and I was lucky to get a spot in one and for two hours Michael shared some tips, tricks and delicious recipes while we sipped on wine. Fun way to spend an afternoon and further your cooking skills. All in all one of our favorite places to visit. If you haven’t been, we encourage you to treat yourself. You won’t be disappointed and you will come home a little more stress free than before you left, essential in these difficult times.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the French Thyme room at the hideaway part of the Hartstone inn. It was only 1 street away but it was so private and relaxing. The jacuzzi tub was perfect. Free fancy breakfast and they ONLY serve breakfast to guests. The dinner was out of this world. No need to go anywhere else but still so convenient if you want to explore Camden because it is right downtown. The staff really made this stay remarkable.
