The owners are wonderful people! They are a kind, hard-working, fantastic family who live there year-round. They also know a lot about the local attractions and what is going on in the area. They provide a great service for the downeast traveler.
I checked into this hotel when I was visiting Acadia National Park. The hotel owner is a very nice couple. They are very friendly and accommodating. I noticed some other reviewers pointed out how terrible the hotel condition was -- the room itself didn't have...More
When we arrived there was no one there to check us in but the place was dirty and there was stuff just piled up EVERYWHERE. It looked like a hoarder lived there. There was a sign on the desk that said to call so that...More
We arrived after a long day at Acadia. The office smelled of animal excrement. I gave it the benefit of doubt. Checked in to the cottage. The cottage had tree branches hanging over, weeds growing above the entry and tape on the screen to the...More

Well, it's definitely run down and hasn't been updated since at least the 70s. You will see water stains on curtains, ceiling tiles, lamp shades, but I haven't noted that the place is dirty. We make a point of staying here when on the way to Acadia simply for the experience of showing our daughter what mom and pop places were like when we grew up. If you don't want any amenities at all and want to stay somewhere that will offer a good story to tell later then book with Doug (the owner/manager)
