Aside from the rooms, this would have been a "very good" rating. We drove in during the night and were so pleasantly surprised by the daytime charm of this hotel. This is a old and classy place that has a lot of historic elements. However, along with that historic charm comes very old, dingy rooms. We didn't spend much time...

I come here every year and have experienced many changes to the hotel. First of all, the hotel being RIGHT BY the ocean is great, no parking fees, quiet little beach perfect for my sea glass scavenging, ect. The salt water pool is definitely a great aspect as well, very big, well kept nice lounge chairs. The bathrooms throughout the...

We were here for a multi-day meeting at the tail-end of May and enjoyed the traditional vibe of this establishment. We found the staff very friendly and helpful (both in terms of our meeting and personal service) and its oceanfront setting was fantastic. The breakfast buffet that's included with the price of your room was pretty good and afforded enough...

This is one of those enormous wood white elephants that have survived from another era. We had one of the smaller, cheaper rooms, which had no TV but good wifi service. There is a heated swimming pool and a grand dining room overlooking the grounds and water, but the food is mediocre at best. Decent value for the money but...

If you're looking for a super-contemporary hotel with all the amenities, this is not the place for you. It was lovely and charming, but the only thing contemporary was our bathroom, which, by the way, was very tiny. There was not much room to maneuver with more than one person in the bathroom at a time. We were in the...

Very nice facility. We stayed in the buildings behind the main hotel-- very comfortable because we had A/C- I think there is no AC in the main hotel. Wonderful breakfast buffet and beautiful grounds and saltwater pool overlooking the ocean. Perfect spot for a family get-together or a romantic get away. I hope to return soon!

we try to spend a few days before the 4th of July at the colony each year. we usually rent a camp on the lake in Bridgton Maine the first few weeks in July. by staying at the colony it puts us halfway to our destination on one of the worst travel weekends of the year. The colony is probably...

We had a multi-family reunion in August of 2012 and this is a great family resort (it was our first visit). The hotel is a 1920's resort which just oozes charm. We had a younger group of kids - from 3 to 13 years old and there's much to do - lay-out/play by the pool, put-put golf, reserved the resorts's...

Great family get away. The ocean views are beautiful but the hotel has an old 1920's resort feeling and that is what makes this place so special. Our room was large with a very nice bath. We loved it. The windows open so we could hear the crashing waves. No tv in our room was actually pleasant for all of...
