Our coastal Maine Bed and Breakfast is one of Kennebunkport's finest independent, owner operated, historic Inns. We offer understated, casual luxury and modern comforts coupled with traditional New England charm. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood next to the 15th fairway of the Cape Arundel Golf Club, we are only a short stroll from bustling Dock Square's shops, restaurants and art galleries. Our five guest rooms are well appointed with queen size beds and private bathrooms. Many have fireplaces (seasonal) and there are spa tubs in select rooms. For that extra special accommodation, our one bedroom suite is equipped with a king sized bed, two person walk in shower, oversize spa tub, fireplace, refrigerator and in-room coffee maker. A three course breakfast is prepared fresh from scratch each morning using local and organic ingredients. Coffee and hot drinks are available 24 hours a day in our dining room . 1802 House is an ideal destination for relaxation and as a base to explore everything the south coast of Maine has to offer.

Spent 2 nights at the 1802 B&B and it could not have been nicer beginning with the warm welcome from Eileen. The Inn was beautifully decorated and simply immaculate! We chose the Camden Room and were extremely happy, the bed was very comfortable and the gas fireplace kept us toasty on the cold Maine nights. The shower was very enjoyable with 3 heads, wonderful pressure and the water was always hot, not to be forgotten the heated tile floor. Breakfast cooked by Carl and served by Eileen was second to none! Breakfast began with your choice of hot beverage and a choice of juice. Carl baked blueberry muffins our first morning in addition to a wonderful cup of yogurt with mango sauce & granola. That goodness was followed by scrambled egg with potato, peppers & onion. To top that our second morning Carl made cranberry scones that were out of this world, crunchy on the outside and crumbly on the inside. This was followed by cut honeydew melon topped with orange poppy seed dressing & lemon zest. If that wasn't enough Carl made a frittata with spinach and tomato served with breakfast sausage. Eileen suggested wonderful restaurants and gave us a map of points of interest. I HIGHLY recommend staying at the 1802 B&B if you are staying in Kennebunkport. You won't be sorry!

Thank you Eileen and Carl we hope to come back again soon!

As far as I know the 1802 House B&B is the oldest plaxe I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The house has been modified with extensions and modern conveniences since then of course. Our stay here was thoroughly enjoyable. Located on a very quiet street, but within walking distance from downtown Kennebunkport; 1802 Houses' setting is very relaxing and calming. The inn is kept immaculately clean with nice sitting areas both in and outside. Our room was the Arundel room, a large room with a queen sized bed, which had a nice wooden bed frame. The room had a sitting area and a fireplace (not used in the July heat unfortunately). The bathroom was fine, the bonus of it having a Jacuzzi tub. The rooms' color is a very nice soothing blue, we liked this room very much. We opted for summer getaway which offered a discount and included a very nice bottle of Prosecco. The innkeepers Carl and Eileen are a very nice British couple. We mainly got to know Eileen; she’s a witty, friendly person, she is also good in giving suggestions for local restaurants and places to visit. We were very grateful she offered us chairs and towels when we went to the beach. The breakfast each morning was cooked by Carl, each had three courses, a baked good, a fruit salad and main. Each breakfast was tasty and filling but we were not overfilled, it hit the sweet spot of being satisfying. We enjoyed our two-night stay in the 1802 house, I highly recommend staying here.

We have been visiting Kennebunkport for years, and we have stayed in a number of inns in town, including many stays at the famed White Barn Inn. They have each been great in their own ways, including the 1802 House.
Frankly, we stayed here because our long time favorite, The Bufflehead Inn, closed. Had it remained open, I assume we would have stayed there again, but life goes on. The 1802 was a fine back-up.
Our hosts were very gracious, but not intrusive. Although we are not breakfast people (yes, I sometimes wonder why we stat at a B&B), the breakfasts were very nice, not to mention plentiful. I should mention that with the covid restrictions, our hosts took every precaution with cleaning, social distancing, etc., but at this point I am sure everyone is. We booked what I think is the inn's only suite. It was very nice; bedroom, sitting room with TV, coffee maker, etc., bathroom with large shower, and a "tub" room with a whirlpool tub big enough for two.
The inn is about a 10 minute walk into town, and sits right on the perimeter of a golf course on which you can walk.
One note of importance: This is an early American house and, as such, the stairs are steep and narrow, so if you might have a problem navigating steep stairs make certain you get a downstairs room, or you may be unhappy.

The 1802 Inn is a sweet little historic Inn right in Kennebunkport. The location is beautiful as it backs up to a good course but also tucked back in a neighborhood street within walking distance to the main area of town. Quiet little property with all the charm you would find in an older inn. Our party size required we have 2 rooms. The host are very lovely and so helpful with any questions or needs you may have during your stay. They were so responsive as we contacted them a little late and they were able to accommodate us. The inn was very clean and we were pleased since we were traveling during Covid. You can tell they are taking every precaution possible to keep their guest and themselves safe during these unusual times. Highly recommend if you stay to get out for a morning walk because it’s just beautiful

The 1802 House is a perfect choice for a stay in Kennebunkport. Walkable distance to downtown but away from the crowds of summer visitors. Eileen is a charming hostess and Carl makes wonderful breakfasts. Now we don't know what the other bathrooms are like, but the walk-in shower in ours was incredible. The bedroom may be a bit small for a long stay but the shower doubles the worth of the bedroom. Kennebunkport is our overnight stop en route to visiting family in upper Maine. The 1802 House will now become our "always" overnight stop.

This B&B is only 1/2 mile from Kennebunkport dock square area so we walked into town every day which beats the traffic. The breakfasts that Carl makes each morning are 3 course fine dining with Eileen serving and making sure everyone is happy. We really enjoyed staying here for 3 nights The room is well air conditioned and the bathroom has been updated. They are not doing daily room cleaning due to COVID but that seems to happen everywhere lately. Would definitely recommend this B&B if you're in this area. Nice outside chairs to sit in as well early in the morning while drinking coffee and a nice firepit for the evenings (although it was rainy every day so we didn't get to enjoy this feature)

We spent 10 days on the Maine coast staying in #1 B& Bs found on TA. The first 3 clearly merited their ranking so we were worried whether we’d go 4/4. The 1802 House was the best of the trip. Our room on the second floor in front of the house was large, elegantly furnished and quiet. The 3-course breakfast was superb. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. Most importantly, the Inn is away from the busy village scene but only a 10 minute walk to town.

My wife and I just returned from a week's stay at the 1802 House. We have stayed at many B&B's over the years, all around the country. This was the best! Eileen and Carl were outstanding innkeepers who were well assisted by Annie, their dog. Carl's homemade breakfasts were different every day and all were excellent. Eileen was lots of fun to talk with and very responsive to all guest requests. We stayed in the Arundel room on the first floor. It was well done and large enough to handle all of our needs. The 10-15 minute walk into town was easy on paved streets and roads. This was important as parking/traffic in Kennebunkport can be a pain. In town many locals provided very positive comments when we told folks where we were staying.
Without a doubt next time we come to Maine we will be staying with Eileen and Carl.

Hi Tom and Jan, what can I say about that wonderful review except thank you. It is lovely when you meet a new guest and they leave feeling like old friends. Our location here is perfect, nice and quiet but only a short walk down into Dock Square, and the Arundel room is lovely. It is particularly cozy in the winter with those heavy beams and the fireplace burning. Thank you again for the review and for taking the time to post it for other travelers to read. We would love to have you stay with us again if your travels bring you back our way.

We haven’t written a review in a long time but this Inn deserves a 5+ star rating. The inn-keepers were personable and fun. The BF beyond delicious and abundant. The room tasteful and very clean. Cozy main, communal spaces.
Kennebunkport is a short walk from the inn and it’s
neighborhood location allows for a very pleasant morning walk before BF.

My daughter and I just spent 5 days at the 1802 House Bed and Breakfast in Kennebunkport, Maine. It was by far the best bed and breakfast experience we've ever had.

The Inn was charming and updated with a lot of original character of the period. One thing that is very important to us is cleanliness and the Inn was immaculate from the common areas to our beautiful room. Our room was beautifully decorated and so inviting with a private bathroom. The owners of the 1802 House are a wonderful couple who were very friendly and so accommodating. Every morning we were served a delicious 3 course breakfast, consisting of a fresh baked pastry, a fruit item and a hot entree. We devoured each course and looked forward to the next days breakfast. The Inn has a front porch with rocking chairs where you can sit and relax as well as a patio in the back where you can sit and have breakfast or a cup of tea or coffee. In addition the Inn has a nice outdoor seating area with gas fire pit which is available for your use.

The Inn is located only a short walk from the town of Kennebunkport making it so convenient to walk when you don't want to drive and look for a parking spot.

We are looking forward to our next vacation to Maine and staying at the 1802 House Bed and Breakfast. Thank you Eileen and Carl for a wonderful and enjoyable stay.
