Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I stayed for a conference at Bates College, about 25 minutes walking away. Billie was very kind and thoughtful as a host: there were snacks and drinks available for free to guests. My room was extremely clean and the whole house is cute; the vibe is bed and breakfast (they don't provide breakfast though).

Was looking for a place to stay in Lewiston Maine. Did not want a chain hotel then stumbled onto the Inn at the Agora while surfing the web. I called and booked ahead after browsing their site and viewing the rooms. When I arrived, I was utterly delighted by the Inn. It was a historic building and had “ Old World Charm “ with modern amenities. The high tech touch screen locks made me feel very safe as a traveler alone . My room had high ceilings and oversized windows as well as quaint furnishings and was squeaky clean.
There was a kitchen stocked with goodies and drinks for the guests to use as they desired. There was free parking also which was a plus.
Needless to say , I would stay there again and would recommend it to those who are looking for a cozy stay in a comfortable place where you can dress casually, take a minute to pet the Inns pet pooch and grab a snack from the kitchen and retire to a very secure and comfy room .
Not to mention the Inn keeper was a delight , giving a little history about the Inn itself and JFK Park across the way.
Thanks to the Inn for a lovely but all too short stay.

We were coming to Maine to help a family member living in the Lewiston area with some home projects. Instead of staying at a chain hotel we chose to stay at this lovely inn. We were met by the innkeeper who made us feel immediately welcome. The room overlooked the courtyard, had room darkening shades and comfy bed linens. We slept well. Lots of nice touches with books on local history, a game room, and snacks! We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed having you here and are glad to know you felt welcome. You stayed in one of my favorite suites, I'm happy you slept well, and although we don't serve breakfast, we do keep the snacks stocked, so thanks for pointing that out. We'd love to have you stay again in the future, and hey, if you need a reason, I can always line up some home projects of my own for ya ;-)

We stayed in the Healy Suite. The room and adjoining bathroom were very clean. The bathroom had dispensers filled with shower gel, shampoo and lotion. The bed was super comfortable. The Inn is beautiful. I would definitely look to stay in the Healy Suite again. Just an overall beautiful and comfortable room. I also loved that the Inn offered filtered water in clean reusable bottles. It is awesome to find environmentally friendly amenities.

The Inn at the Agora is a hidden gem in the middle of Lewiston. We booked it because it was cheap and we were blown away. The host, Billie-Jayne, was wonderful, the building was historic and the room was immaculate. Our stay was nicer than any comparable hotel. There was an assortment of games and activities for use in the multiple parlor rooms and complimentary snacks and candy were available throughout the house. Additionally, they provided a full binder of places to go and things to do in Lewiston along with a small breakfast coupon to local eateries. Really we can’t recommend it enough, we wish we could have stayed longer. If we ever end up in Lewiston again we will definitely be staying here.

This is a lovely historical house made into an Airbnb. The property is beautiful and unique. The owner has thought of every detail possible. Nothing has been overlooked. There is every kind of essential item you might need in case you forgot it. There are water bottles to use during your stay, a Cold and hot water dispenser, snacks, both sweet and salty, a coffee maker with all the condiments, and a cool little ice maker machine. The room is spacious with beautiful furniture, a comfy bed, Roku tv, robes, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. The way the place is locked up with Yale electronic locks made it both safe and easy to access. The big front porch is a perfect way to start the day with morning coffee and snacks. You also have use of other rooms in the inn and there are tons of games you can play. I know I have left something out, because there were just so many nice amenities, I can’t possibly remember them all. Staying at the Inn at Agora was a truly unique experience.

Wow! What a through review! We do really try to “predict” what a guest would need to make the stay as pleasant as possible, so it is always nice to know we are on the same wavelength. Ironically, we just added the ice machine in the past few weeks, so very happy to see it get mentioned already.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Inn. It was an Anniversary trip. The staff helped us celebrate by decorating the room and providing a bottle of champagne. The Wallace suite is a large, comfortable room and nicely furnished. There is a good size common area with multiple table-chair sets for games or reading. There is also a kitchen area where coffee, tea and a assortment of cookies/crackers are provided free of charge. It was also nice not needing a key or key card. We were provided codes to get into the building and for our room. No meals are provided, but the staff provides some dining discount vouchers and their own reviews of some of the local restaurants/diners. It’s not your typical place, as there is a church on the property that has been converted for events planning. Highly recommend if you’re coming to the area.

Thank you for such a detailed and kind review. We enjoyed having you stay with us, and we were happy to help you celebrate. The door codes definitely add a layer of ease and security - glad you found it convenient to use. It's easy to promote local dining establishments when you have great choices and community staples, but many of our recommendations are based on feedback from guests! We value your input and hope you stay with us in the future.

My kid and I were looking at several colleges in the general area (Bates, Colby, and Bowdoin) and the Inn at the Agora was a wonderful place to stay. It's in an old mansion right on Kennedy Park in Lewiston, and has the quirky charm and decor of an old house. It was easy to come and go, and the innkeepers, Billy and Wess, made us feel very welcome. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. We particularly appreciated the snacks and water dispenser in the kitchen and Billie's helpfulness throughout our stay, including helping us find a good nearby laundromat. FYI, it seems like Lewiston has been suffering some hard times, so be prepared for some down-on-their-luck folks in the area, but we felt safe throughout our stay and had no problems. We would happily stay at the Inn again.

This is a wonderful, historic inn. It is clean, the staff is wonderfully accommodating, the inn has been wonderfully restored. The room we were assigned was at the end of a hallway, with a door that closed off from the rest of the inn. As a result, we had the entire wing to ourselves. As wonderful as this inn is to stay at, a traveler considering this location must be aware that the area in which it is located is extremely poor, not well maintained, and has a large population of homeless people. The inn has a private parking lot with security. Those of you who are familiar with the movie "Being There" can relate to this location.

I actually had to watch that movie to see the reference. While I don't think it is that bad, I do understand the reference. I also appreciate honest reviews that talk openly about our neighborhood and still enjoy their stay with us. Nobody can look at our reviews and then act surprised. That said, we also understand that no positive change can occur if businesses like ours don't try to be the positive change needed to help shift things.

My husband and I traveled to Maine to visit our child at Bates College. This was a perfect place to stay to get away from a typical hotel stay. The environment was warm and cozy with the holiday decorations. The beautiful porch overlooked a park. The inn keeper was very friendly. They had a stocked kitchen of snacks, coffee and tea we were able to take advantage of. Wonderful place to stay and highly recommend.
