Extremely friendly and helpful office staff. Gave us advice on hiking and biking trails, places to see moose, and food . When I went to the site I picked, it was not what I expected and didn't really work with my travel trailer.i looked around and found one that would and they made the switch with zero hassle. Great location for visiting Baxter SP and surrounding area.

This is a lovely campground with lots of trees. We had a private site, but it needed a load of gravel as the site was mostly sand. The road up to our site was rough and in need of repair. Bathrooms were clean and adequate. As far as laundry facilities, there was only one washer and one dryer. The campground is more like 25 minutes to Baxter, rather than 15 minutes as advertised.

Vickie and while staff was really awesome! Very friendly. The cabin was top notch! The bathroom was clean and super hot showers that will melt your skin. We slept great and they are really concussions of guest experience. We will stay here next year and advise everyone to do so likewise if they are going anywhere in the area. I give this place a ten out if ten for camp ground.

This campground recently changed hands. While Vicky is helpful, the layout of the grounds is very challenging, especially if you have a smaller camper and are assigned to a small site (as we were). It offers only a basic hook-up of water and electric. No full hook-ups. Laundry facility was basic and clean. DO NOT USE CANADIAN COINS! Bathrooms (both men and women) were basic and clean. Showers are free. Campfire wood is available on-site. Mosquitos and deer flies were abundant, and we were glad we had a screened "house" to protect us.

Short Version: Vicky, the owner, has an employee who is very aggressive and frankly a bully, and if you are doing something reasonable that he deems unacceptable (even if the rules say it is totally fine) he could absolutely invade your campsite and threaten to call the police if you don't stop. Long Version: Though our 3 day stay here started well in the first few hours of arriving, our experience was quickly and severely soured by one of Vicky's (the owner) employees. One of the groundskeepers drove his truck right into our campsite at 9:30pm and literally stomped into our pop-up area one foot from my friend and I who were playing acoustic guitar music and singing by the campfire. He started pointing fingers and being aggressive. He yelled that we "have to quiet down" (even though quiet time started at 10pm) and "stop swearing" (which we weren't) and that "many campsites" had complained. Which is ironic, considering the two campsites next to us were cheering us on while we were singing and playing. We brought this up politely to him and Vicky who had drove her car in as well, and he continued his posturing and aggressiveness and said "this isn't what the county wants" as if he represented the entire county, and threatened to call the police if we didn't stop. Reminder - we were simply playing music by the campfire during non-quiet hours. The owner (also his boss) Vicky seems pretty nice and is pretty friendly, but she didn't really do or say anything about his behavior, and in fact she said we could absolutely sing. In the following two days he continued to drive by slowly on his side-by-side and stare at us intimidatingly. Even in the afternoons we didnt feel comfortable singing or playing music, or even being there really as his harassment and aggressive behavior went unchecked. We ended up going to a nearby beach during the day every day we were there because we no longer felt comfortable in the campsite we paid money for. We felt watched and intimidated after the incident on our first night there, and Vicky is seemingly okay keeping him employed there, even though he aggressively attempts to enforce his own version of the camp rules. If he was just a camper there for a few days I'd care less, and if he was polite in his requests I probably wouldn't leave a review at all. But considering he is seemingly there all summer long as an employee, he is a serious deterrent. We have stayed at many, many campsites and never had an issue with campfire music. We will not be staying there again, and recommend that you stay far away from wherever his campsite is. Look for a truck with Florida plates.

The owner seems nice enough, but the people who help run the campground ruin this place. Our group of family friends has camped all over Maine at many campgrounds for many years, and we would definitely never stay here again unfortunately. The campground itself has nice primitive sites, good for tent camping. However one of the groups in our party was assigned a site that apparently isn’t actually in use and wasn’t supposed to be assigned, because the picnic table was disassembled and there was a pile of boards stacked on the site. Not a huge deal, there were thankfully other open sites available nearby. The first night our group was enjoying a campfire and playing some guitar, well within the allotted hours, as we are always respectful of quiet hours. This is a frequent occurance for us when camping, and we have played music for many hours at many campgrounds without any complaints previously. In fact many campers usually come and socialize at our site because they enjoy the music. The music is generally classic rock and nothing profane, as we also have children in our group. On this night we were enjoying music, suddenly a man walks up into our site and come ups underneath our popup canopy unannounced. He walks up to the individuals playing guitar and starts to verbally harass them without so much as an introduction of who he is. He’s telling them they need to stop immediately, they can hear us “all the way down at site 26” (which was literally three sites down from us). Threatening to call the police, etc. All of this without so much as stating who he is, coming directly up into our faces and our campsite, and making threats at us. Everyone was very taken aback and confused why he was being so aggressive toward us, especially because it was not past quiet hours, and our direct neighbors had been clapping and cheer that they enjoyed the music and wanted us to keep playing. It turns out this guy is involved in helping operate the campground, although we didn’t even know that because he was so rude he didn’t even bother to introduce himself or start a normal conversation before harassing us. He involved the owner as well and we were told the music was fine but no swearing. We were not playing music with profanity. As previously mentioned, we also have children in our group. When the guy went to drive back to his campsite he backed his car into a rock and smashed his bumper, so I guess that was Karma for him. For the next two days, we decided not to spend our time at the campground and to take a day trip to a beach that we enjoy. In the mornings before we left, this same man would do continuous laps by our sites on his side by side ATV, clearly checking in on us and trying to insinuate us. In the evenings it was the same thing. One evening the owner was making laps, clearly waiting for the second we arrived, to ask that I move my vehicle about 6 inches out of the road. It had already been there a day and a half and many trucks with campers were easily able to pass. So clearly it was a non issue and they were looking for something to continue to harass us about. Then the second night we were there a campsite nearby to us was blasting music well into quiet hours, at least until 11:30. We weren’t bothered by it, but clearly nothing was said to them about it. If you want your quiet hours to be a certain time, the enforce them for that time. Don’t harass us for playing music within the allowed time, and then let other campers get away with it. Completely poor management. One positive is that the bathroom facilities were kept very clean. I saw the rude man’s wife attending to them, and she did a great job. She also checked us in on the first day and was actually very pleasant. She was also apologizing for his behavior the entire time he was harassing us. I feel bad she has to deal with that wretch of a man. Bottom line, don’t go here unless you plan to be completely silent for your entire time. The quiet hours are 10pm but you’ll get in trouble at 9pm while your neighbors blast music until near midnight.

The campground is nice if you are looking for wooded, shady sites. The place is very quiet and the bathrooms and showers were very clean. A couple of things that I don’t understand is first, the amount of tree branches in the roadway. If you have a large rig, plan on leaving with a few extra scratches on it. In the 3 years that I’ve camped at Wilderness Edge, I have not seen any evidence of tree trimming. Second, there’s been a shower stall out of order for 3 years in a row. It appears that not a lot is being invested into thing’s like that. Last year, it looked like they were ready to expand (lots of gravel hauled in and new roads being developed), however there is no progress this year. I hope this place doesn’t start going downhill.

Beautiful place and very quiet this time of year. Took a moose tour with Wendy, was very enjoyable even though we didn’t see a moose. Wendy is very knowledgeable and obviously loves the area and what she does. Clean restrooms and showers and a nice laundry room.
