The owner seems nice enough, but the people who help run the campground ruin this place. Our group of family friends has camped all over Maine at many campgrounds for many years, and we would definitely never stay here again unfortunately. The campground itself has nice primitive sites, good for tent camping. However one of the groups in our party was assigned a site that apparently isn’t actually in use and wasn’t supposed to be assigned, because the picnic table was disassembled and there was a pile of boards stacked on the site. Not a huge deal, there were thankfully other open sites available nearby. The first night our group was enjoying a campfire and playing some guitar, well within the allotted hours, as we are always respectful of quiet hours. This is a frequent occurance for us when camping, and we have played music for many hours at many campgrounds without any complaints previously. In fact many campers usually come and socialize at our site because they enjoy the music. The music is generally classic rock and nothing profane, as we also have children in our group. On this night we were enjoying music, suddenly a man walks up into our site and come ups underneath our popup canopy unannounced. He walks up to the individuals playing guitar and starts to verbally harass them without so much as an introduction of who he is. He’s telling them they need to stop immediately, they can hear us “all the way down at site 26” (which was literally three sites down from us). Threatening to call the police, etc. All of this without so much as stating who he is, coming directly up into our faces and our campsite, and making threats at us. Everyone was very taken aback and confused why he was being so aggressive toward us, especially because it was not past quiet hours, and our direct neighbors had been clapping and cheer that they enjoyed the music and wanted us to keep playing. It turns out this guy is involved in helping operate the campground, although we didn’t even know that because he was so rude he didn’t even bother to introduce himself or start a normal conversation before harassing us. He involved the owner as well and we were told the music was fine but no swearing. We were not playing music with profanity. As previously mentioned, we also have children in our group. When the guy went to drive back to his campsite he backed his car into a rock and smashed his bumper, so I guess that was Karma for him. For the next two days, we decided not to spend our time at the campground and to take a day trip to a beach that we enjoy. In the mornings before we left, this same man would do continuous laps by our sites on his side by side ATV, clearly checking in on us and trying to insinuate us. In the evenings it was the same thing. One evening the owner was making laps, clearly waiting for the second we arrived, to ask that I move my vehicle about 6 inches out of the road. It had already been there a day and a half and many trucks with campers were easily able to pass. So clearly it was a non issue and they were looking for something to continue to harass us about. Then the second night we were there a campsite nearby to us was blasting music well into quiet hours, at least until 11:30. We weren’t bothered by it, but clearly nothing was said to them about it. If you want your quiet hours to be a certain time, the enforce them for that time. Don’t harass us for playing music within the allowed time, and then let other campers get away with it. Completely poor management. One positive is that the bathroom facilities were kept very clean. I saw the rude man’s wife attending to them, and she did a great job. She also checked us in on the first day and was actually very pleasant. She was also apologizing for his behavior the entire time he was harassing us. I feel bad she has to deal with that wretch of a man. Bottom line, don’t go here unless you plan to be completely silent for your entire time. The quiet hours are 10pm but you’ll get in trouble at 9pm while your neighbors blast music until near midnight.…
