Monhegan Island is my favorite place on earth. We just returned from our 10th visit there. We love to stay at the Island Inn, which is both comfortable and picturesque. Except for the addition of some modern amenities at the hotel (like electricity), little seems to have changed here over the past 100 years. This year the food was better...

This island is wonderful whether you like to hike, visit art galleries, or just relax and enjoy peace and quiet. The Island Inn is right on the harbor, with a large covered porch that invites you to sit and reflect. I had visited several years ago and had not been back for quite a while. I worried that things had...

This place has a certain draw to it. Whether it is the miles of hiking trails, artists, art galleries, no automobiles, micro brewery, scenic rocky cliff views, lighthouse museum, food at the Inn, friendly staff, or the local general store. This time around the weather was not quite no friendly with rare sun glimpses, fog, rain, drizzle and temps in...

My husband and I just moved to Maine a couple of months ago,so decided to try an overnight stay at The Island Inn. The total experience, from the staff at the desk checking us in, to the ambience of the place was five star. We had a 6:00 restaurant reservations and the HOST, SERVER & FOOD absolutely made this night...

Everyone seeking a 24 hour high from a absence of crowds and moving vehicles needs to jump on the daily boats heading out to this small island 10 miles off Port Clyde Maine. For over 125 years, aritsts and hikers have found this sanctuary of fisherman families and beautiful cliffs to access. Island House, one of two actual hotels, and...

This is the best inn on the island, close to the dock, with rocking chairs on the porch. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have games and puzzles when it is rainy. It is a throwback to an earlier era. If you need a hair dryer, ask at the front desk.

The Inn is located near the dock, when you first arrive on the ferry. The Inn served fresh seafood and was one of a handful of places you can eat on the island. Our room was quiet and had a great view of the sunset, overlooking the ocean. There are a number of areas in the Inn to relax, read...

We loved staying at the inn! We had a room at the top of the stairs with an ocean view. Watching the sunset over the small island was glorious. After hiking all over the island I was content to sit on the front porch rockers while my husband took more pictures. Fantastic dinner in the restaurant downstairs. Comfy bed and...

This is a super convenient and comfortable Inn just up the hill as you get off the boat on Monhegan. The Inn is clean, well staffed, has great food, a great location and the view is spectacular. You really want to stay here ...

The gorgeous Inn is situated on the island to take full advantage of the seascape. The Inn is a journey back in time. You can sense the modern world melting away on entering the period common spaces. The porch is filled with rockers that keep pace with the quiet island life. The surprise comes with the rooms that are carefully...
