While camping Sat. July 20th 2019, which was a 90 degree day, the woman's shower that I attempted to use was scalding hot. I ran the shower for a good 10 minutes to see if it would reach a usable temp. I really hated wasting all that water and energy. And I was very concerned about children or others who might try to use this shower. When I complained of this to the supervisor at the ranger station at check out, he tried to pretend they had never heard of this problem. It's very sad that such incompetent management takes place in this beautiful campground.

Quiet camp ground some bathrooms are kept clean others not so much. Pretty pricey considering we reserved ahead and they charge a reservation fee for every day that you stay. If you want to avoid the reservation fee have to show up early and put your name in and hope for the best.

We are currently staying in a cabin here and it is such a peaceful campground. We are coming back for sure. Maine is a beautiful state. I would recommend coming here with family or friends! We are in love with the area.

I have been camping here since birth and am now 24 and plan to go here with my own growing family in the coming years. This is a great family campground with great sites, weekly outdoor movies, a playground, and clean bathrooms and showers. You can choose from waterfront sites, sites close to the playground if you have little ones, even sites that you have to hike to. Each site has a picnic table, two parking spaces, and a fire pit. There is running water for cooking and dishwashing stations. This is a great camping experience for those who don’t want the bells and whistles of onsite pools, arcades, laundry etc. without having to use outhouses. Also, the beach on the Naples side (no electricity and mostly tents) is huge and beautiful. There are also multiple nature and hiking trails if as well as the Naples causeway a couple of miles away with a nightlife and restaurants if all day beach dwelling is not your thing. The rangers here are great and willing to help. I have no negatives. I will go here until I can’t anymore!

My family and I have camped at this campground for the past 3 years, now. We love the beach in the "older" section, and enjoy using this as home base when visiting the Maine Wildlife park, Crescent Beach, and Portland. The waterfront sites are stunning, but need to be booked early on the first morning that registration opens, in February. The campground itself is not quiet. We call it "city camping", because with a few exceptions, the sites are right on top of each other, with no real privacy. There is alot of noise, and quiet hours are not enforced all that much. In the evenings, there is a haze from the smoke of so many campfires. If you are looking for peace and tranquility, this is not your campground. If you want reasonably priced lodging within an hour of the Greater Portland area, or if you want to camp at a family friendly campground with some beautiful Lake front beaches, then this might be your spot.
