In the tradition of Maine's summer resorts, the Marginal Way House has been welcoming visitors since at least 1911. Located on Wharf Lane, two blocks from the center of town, directly across from the Ogunquit Beach, the Marginal Way House offers incomparable views of the beach and coastline. Offering 3 types of rooms including hotel rooms in our Main and Wharf House buildings, ocean front rooms in our Dockside building, and efficiency apartments which are located through out our 5 building complex.
This is one of our favorite vacation spots . The location is great, walking distance to the beach and to the town as well as to the gorgeous Marginal Way walk with spectacular ocean views. The green lawn in the front and the splendid flower beds and arrangements are just lovely. Laura is the best ever manager :efficient, helpful and friendly who makes the place run smoothly. Leona is also very capable as is Allen, both of whom work in the front office. My only complaint is the uncomfortable lawn chairs that are hard to move around and make sitting for extended periods difficult.

I am ALMOST hesitant to write this review, as I'd like to keep this place a secret for my own selfish gain, but here goes... As a former resident of Portland (Vermont is home now) and a frequent vacationer to Ogunquit, I was beyond impressed to finally discover the Marginal Way House. The staff (Laura, the Manager, in particular) were beyond friendly, communicative, informed, and clearly took pride in their work. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, the rooms are clean and well appointed. We arrived on a Friday and spent one night in the Dockside Deckhouse right at the water's edge! We visited with another couple, visiting for their 14th straight year, from Michigan. They were able to fill us in on the property and some details. The next day we switched rooms for our week…

This was our first time staying at Marginal Way House. It was a great experience from the staff to the location. I told friends and family we had a rich mans view on a poor mans budget. Front row seats to the ocean! With shops and restaurants in walking distance. We are looking forward to our stay at Marginal Way House next year.

Perfect location, walk to beach, walk to town, walk to Perkins Cove. Sitting anywhere on the property gives great views of the water and tide changes. Staff is very helpful, especially Laura in the office.

We loved our stay at the Marginal Way House. My husband and I spent a week in Room 103 which was quiet, comfortable, clean, and provided us with a coffee maker, small fridge and microwave. The room is located at ground level, below the first floor of the motel so there are a few stairs to go down. There's a nice little entry way from the main room that is well light. A small bistro table, overlooking a garden, was nice for coffee. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, plenty of shelf space and a small sink. Housekeeping was excellent. Just put the card on the door to indicate whether you want housekeeping. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and worked with us when we first booked in January. The large Adirondack chairs on the lawn are the best. We often brought our meals…

Sun rise from this beautiful spot and falling asleep to the sound of the waves can't be beat. Too hot to walk to the beach? Watch all the activity on the river side and ocean side from a shady spot on the lawn.

As always, the rooms were nicely decorated and even the smallest room for our group had room to sit and enjoy the beautiful views. Convenient location for walking to the Marginal Way, the beach, or shops and restaurants. And a perfect place to enjoy the views!

The room was more than I expected. We stayed in the Wharf house room 204 with a private balcony overlooking the ocean and river. Little touches that made the stay exceptional. Two different types of chandlers hanging in the corner of the room and near the kitchenette. The white wainscoting, soothing paint colors and an over the top tiled shower made a luxurious stay. The view of the river and ocean was wonderful. Hearing the ocean and seeing it from one's bed had us hanging out in the room and relaxing. Larger bath towels would be nice and the outside steps to the Wharf house were a challenge for me to see when stepping down. I have already booked for next year.
