I’m so happy I picked this motel. It’s in the perfect location. Also it’s very clean and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. There was a slight problem with the tv. It was taken care of very promptly.
Pros: We found our room to be spacious and the location was good. We usually stay on the other end of the pier, further down, and it was nice being closer to the center. The kitchenette was functional, but no paper towels or dishcloths. Cons: I'm astounded that they have the nerve to charge people to sleep on those mattresses. They are as old as the hills; lumpy, bumpy, springy, saggy. Should have been disposed of years ago. Everything in the room was old and worn down and had a very 'sketchy/skeevy' feeling to it. I kept hoping to look beyond this and see the room as 'old but clean' but just couldn't manage it. Everywhere I looked I was creeped out by a lack of attention to detail, both in cleaning and upkeep.
I was just not going to leave a review but after I was notified I would be charged an extra $50 for “dirty towels”, I figured I should warn you guys. So first the good: spacious, affordable, nice kitchenette. The bad: Literally our door was 15 feet from train tracks, and more importantly, a train crossing, which means there are many train whistles going on through the night. I don’t think this place was very clean. I got multiple red itchy spots on my body throughout my stay there, and it just so happened that it only occurred during my stay there. WiFi was spotty and cut out frequently. Probably would have given it 3-4 stars. HOWEVER, 4 days after our stay the sent a picture of dirty towels to us and said they’d be charging us $50. So, first of all, it was myself, my fiancé, and our 2 year old. We used the shower/towels as a family of 3 would. One of the towels was kind of dirty in the picture, I don’t remember leaving a towel like that but with a 2 year old anything is possible. I have never been charged for a dirty towel, we always pick up after ourselves and leave the room in a reasonable condition. I am sorry the towel is dirty, but isn’t that why you wash and change them? Also, these towels were super cheap and the ONE towel that was dirty would not cost anywhere near $50. I’m just dumbfounded, never heard of anything like that before. Probably worth mentioning that there was a light out and missing a toaster they guaranteed would be part of our room. This place is petty. They give you half a sponge, for instance. Ok, I’ll pay the ridiculous $50 charge for the towels but the 5 rooms (family gathering) that you got for 3 nights? We will never be returning. Get your customer service right.…
Hallway carpet was dirty, banging out side our door one night, children playing in the hall way, bedroom carpet was stained and dirty, stains on floor under baseboard in living room. The side of the bathroom vanity was peeling off. Honestly did not know I have booked a room that had train tracks outside the window with a train at least 4 times last night. So much for a good sleep. I love the are and the placement of the hotel, so close to everything . Loved Old orchard Beach and the places we ate and loved the PIER!!
By all means choose this motel. Very pleasant staff. Clean rooms and facilities. Very accommodating. Grills on patio and plenty of seating. Directly on the ocean. Can’t wait to go back. Close to pier just a few minutes walking
