Detailed Reviews
I hesitated in sharing this review out of fear that other families will catch on to my incredible find!!! Every year my large family plans a staycation to celebrate a combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas. We host an enormous meal and require lots of space for togetherness (and opportunity to find peace and quiet). The Ricker House at Poland Spring Resort provided us with just that. The kids had so much safe space to play outdoors and we couldn't believe the level of cleaning that had been performed ahead of our arrival. The kitchen was stocked perfectly for our big meal and the cottage included every amenity you could possibly ask for and then some! The history of the resort is well-worth learning about before your arrival, and make sure you bring shoes that allow for you to explore the many acres of trails and open land. The views of Mt. Washington just don't even compare to any other place in Maine. We'll be back in the summer to make more use of all the great amenities the resort offers- swimming pool, golfing, pickleball and tennis and much more!

Have been coming here for almost 40 years. The owner and staff are the friendliest and most wonderful [people ever. This was a golf weekend for 4 very longtime friends. It is always a pleasure to be greeted as family. The breakfast was included in the room rate.

We had the opportunity to stay at Poland Springs during Columbus Day weekend with five other couples. We have enjoyed the Columbus Day weekend package for several years in the past and this year was just as much fun as before. The location is one of the most scenic in Maine...hundreds of acres situated on a hilltop, overlooking the 18 hole golf course with views extending to the Presidential Range of the White Mountains in the North to Franconia Notch in the West. Excellent breakfast and dinner buffets, good entertainment each evening, and especially a staff that continues to go above and beyond in serving their guests. That excellence begins with the Inn Keeper Cyndi Robbins and extends down through the entire crew. It is great to experience the continuous updates that Cyndi continues to make to the lodging accommodations and facilities even while having to go through the Covid years of restrictions.

Our summer camp was celebrating its 100th birthday and a group of us decided to come to Maine for an extended vacation prior to the actual reunion at camp. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. We were at the newly renovated Ricker House. IT WAS AMAZING! The restoration gave us a fabulous, comfortable home for the week. The house had everything we needed and when we asked for replacement sheets or towels, they were delivered in no time at all. We wanted to have a campfire, one evening, and kindling and fire wood was delivered for us. The grounds are well kept and there’s lots of interesting things to see and visit. We can’t wait to come back!

Dear Nancy R, The Ricker Cottage is such a neat place isn't it?! We really enjoyed renovating that cottage this past winter, and finding the historic photos of the house from when it was the owner's home in the early 1900s! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay! If you didn't get to visit this time, you'll have to visit the Maine State Building Museum on the property! Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and see you again soon! This resort rocks. Hands down had a 5 star experience for 4 young bachelors from the city looking to get away and have some fun. Although the Maine Inn might not be your typical "modern" hotel in the city it has character, charm, awesome views, great location to so many different things, and has an abundance of on-site options for people of all ages. We personally enjoyed the value of 2 rooms for three nights and unlimited golf which we took full advantage of playing 54 holes in the course of a weekend. The golf course is one of the beat we've ever played at and definitely well kept. The staff take precious meticulous care of the grounds from what we could tell. We also took advantage of the bumper pool table, standard pool table, bar, the simple yet perfect breakfast buffet, driving range, grass tennis courts, and sitting on the gazebo while enjoying the evening sky. The beds were comfortable, the staff were SUPER friendly, and everything was CLEAN. The casino is a short drive away, and the restaurants in the area are delicious too,. We recommend the Oxford Beer Garden, Da Vinci's (Lewiston) and 290 Maine St. (Norway). You don't want to me this stop on your next trip to Maine!

I was only up for 1 night and just needed a safe, clean place to sleep. The room that I was in was outdated, I was in the Presidential Inn, but I liked that the outside doors lock in addition to the lock on your room door. The property was clean and well lit, and as a traveling single these are important factors to me when looking for a place to stay. I felt safe and the staff was great. The young girl at check in was super nice and the woman that ran the snack bar was really personable and recommended a bar by the racetrack for some food given that I had arrived so late. The recomendation was awesome both with the food and the bar service! I can't wait to go back. The room was cheaper than most of the chain hotels in the area and I'd much rather support local businesses on my travels anyways. And those views from the Main Inn porch, sunrise/sunset were just amazing!

This August my grandchildren will become the fourth generation of our family to stay at Poland Springs Resort. This is a budget vacation, I don’t want to leave people thinking this is a spa with fancy exercise rooms and an Olympic size pool. There is a modest pool, dirt and paved trails for both walks and bikes, small swing set, kids play room, two museums and a variety of local attractions such as Sebago Lake State Park, Maine Wildlife Park, Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village and Carousel Horse Farm, just to name a few. Poland Springs has one goal- to be the #1 most relaxing vacation, and they nail it. There is a lake with boat rentals, an ice cream stand next to a mini golf course, a fabulous porch with rocking chairs and adirondacks. You have two on site restaurant options for lunch and dinner, and you can enjoy the hotel’s breakfast buffet or drive a bit up the road for a regular breakfast restaurant. The Maine Inn has a library and a game room full of board games and puzzles. Sometimes there are movies in the afternoon. Friday nights there is music at the pub. Your small ones can run around without bothering anyone, and your older ones can sit on the porch and admire the incredible view across the golf course. Within an hour radius of Poland Springs Resort you’ll find Freeport, Portland, Augusta, Lewiston, and Brunswick- all lovely shopping destinations with brew pubs and galleries. And of course, there’s the casino. The prices at Poland Springs Resort are probably the real draw- our last stay was a Friday in July ‘21, and our room in the Presidential Inn was $99. People come to Poland Springs Resort and stay for weeks at a time. Obviously!

We went here for our honeymoon, not making the connection that this was related to the water bottle company. It was a nice surprise and we enjoyed the history behind the place, particularly looking and reading and the photographs on the wall. This is a good place to relax and take things slow. There is not a lot to do around the area so i would not recommend it to anyone looking for adventure or for an action-packed vacation. This place is best for someone who wants to stroll, take naps, play lawn games, and learn some light history of the location. I would recommend getting the breakfast package, its cheaper than what you would pay to eat anywhere outside of the resort. Again, there's not much to do and not many places to eat in the area so make use of what the resort offers. They have a pool, nightly activities like concerts in the lobby, and lawn games. Our favorite pass time was bocchi ball. The building we stayed in (Main Inn) had a library to pass the time in. Overall it was a very relaxing trip, I just really wish the resort offered more day time actives besides the golf course.

Traveled with several family members for a wedding at PSI. The location is stunning. Food was amazing. I don't experiment with food very often and at first I was a little skeptical, but it was absolutely wonderful whether meals in the Maine Inn or at Mel's. Portions are large and well worth your money. I stayed in the Presidential Inn. The room was large and very comfortable. Everything worked, was very clean and so very quiet. I never heard another person or animal, just a little thunder one night. If I needed anything, I just asked an employee and they went above and beyond to help. Our family included 8 children under the age of 11, there was plenty for them to do....miniature golf, disc golf, pickleball, swimming, swings, etc. We happened to be there for fireworks and all the 4th festivities and had a blast! If you're looking for a great place to stay, play and eat then PSI is for you. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but I wasn't looking for that. I was looking for beautiful, relaxing, fun and affordable. My vacation was a complete success and I'll be back!

The Resort is nice but dated. We stayed in the Main Inn There is nothing fancy or outstanding about the place. Some of the front desk help could use some education on Customer Service. My wife and daughter flew into Portland. Upon landing they received a phone call from the resort asking if they were still coming. They replied yes. Upon arriving at the resort they asked if their rooms were ready and were told no. They had lunch down the road and came back at three and still the rooms were not ready! Women at the front desk were very short with their answers and very accommodating. My wife and daughter asked for water at had to pay for Poland Spring water!
Another little thing was no ice buckets or ice machine availability. If you need ice it is almost like asking for gold. You need to ask for it at the desk and they will give you a cup of ice at a time. When I first asked about an ice bucket in the room I was told there was no more ice buckets since Covid. Strange that major hotel chains still have ice buckets. In addition if you are staying in the President Inn there is an ice machine in the basement for everyone to use. I guess that building was never effected by Covid! For us the ice bucket was not the real issue it was the excuse of Covid. Again a little thing but per the website there was supposed to be two bottles of Poland Spring water in the room. There were none. When I inquired at the desk the person said never heard anything about that but if I wanted some there was plenty behind the desk. Not so much the water as an issue with staff training and knowledge.
So it is really just a place to stay. Nothing fancy and dated. I do have to say this though, there was a young lady named Jenna behind the desk who usually came on at 3PM who was the most helpful and friendly. She really does deserve a shout out as she was the most helpful and knowledgeable and friendly person behind the desk.
I guess the real question is would you go back and I would have to say probably not. Unfortunately we are used to a little more than what Poland Springs has to offer.

Responded Sep 21, 2023
Dear Ed H, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I apologize for the confusion it seems took place during your stay. As you can imagine, we have many new staff members each season, and unfortunately are still not fully staffed. That certainly is not an excuse, however. I would like to clarify a few things. At this time, we do not have an ice machine in the Maine Inn, therefore do not have ice buckets. That has nothing to do with Covid. We do sell bags of ice when available, or can give you a cup of ice if you wanted a smaller quantity. We are privately owned, and not affiliated with the Water Company. The two complimentary bottles of water (given at check-in) is for anyone that sends us a check in the mail to pay for their reservation. Otherwise, water can be purchased along with fountain soda and beverages. Thank you for the nice comment about our front desk staff member, Jenna! I have sent this on to our management staff for us to use as a training tool in the future, we sincerely thank you for bringing this to our attention. Sincerely, Laura Poland Spring Resort 207-998-4351

I believe so especially at one of the many cottages. Call them to verify.
It was open near the end of august 2021.
Only for breakfast at this point in the main dinig room.
For lunch and dinners they do that the bar next to the golf course open as well as the lake side restaurant .
Both the bar and the lake side grill are open for lunch and dinner.
The main hall is only doing breakfasts now breakfast now, because of covid.
All this information was valid as of Memorial Day, when i was last there. A call to them will give you up to date info.
Hello,
I'm not sure when you are staying with us, it all depends which season as to the breakfast hours. Please call the reservation office at 207-998-4351 and we can help answer the question correctly!
Thank you,
