My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights for a birthday trip from the southeast. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The front desk went out of their way to make sure my wife and I had everything we needed for our stay. Our room was spacious and very clean. Bartenders were super friendly and make a great cocktail, be sure to go enjoy a drink in the lobby by the water! I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend!
Room was very clean, and stylish. Everything seemed relatively new and in good condition. I liked that there was plenty of seating available - couch, chair, benches under the tv. I also appreciated the mini fridge w/two complimentary waters. Bonus, that the hydration station was right next to our room & we used it to fill our water bottles several times. Location of the hotel was good, but at the far end of the Old Port area. I had originally booked the Aloft, at the other end of town, and I'm so glad we opted for the location of this AC Hotel. The staff was welcoming & friendly. We had a very early flight out, requiring a taxi at 4:15am, and they were helpful making it happen. The beds were pretty comfortable, and there were outlets with USBs next to both sides of the bed. We didn't experience any issues with noise from other rooms, and zero noise from outside. The room darkening curtains did their job & blocked out the daylight. Disliked - The shower water pressure could definitely be improved. I'm also not a fan of the frosted glass sliding bathroom door, as it lets light out into the room, when someone uses it in the middle of the night. A bit more privacy would be nice for people traveling as friends as well. A complimentary shuttle around downtown was only available on Sunday, and would have been nice for the other days we stayed there. Disclaimer - I see other people paid over $600/night - we paid less than $300/nt, and probably would have been less satisfied if I had paid more.…
My wife had one night in Portland, ME on the way back to home after our trip. The General Manager Seamus was very helpful in suggesting in restaurants that were all within walking distance, including a couple of the top spots in Portland. Overall the location was excellent, right on the water and Commercial Street. Great Gym, and even Breakfast service was excellent, with the waiter making my pregnant wife something specific she was looking for (Cheese Eggs).
Outside appearance of hotel is awesome. The valet service was exceptional, the guys were great, although expensive (note there is 24 hour parking lot much cheaper about a block down. Is it safe???? I didnt use it had already had valet park and only had car 1 of my 3 nights there). At check in, the customer service was very bad. Not rude. Definitely not nice or friendly. Acted more bothered than anything, did not mention Marriott member thank you or anything. Unfortunately that same representative was there all 3 evenings I was and her attitude was the same every night! I hated to ask any questions or anything, usually never fill that way at Marriott properties. Note the couple of people I dealt with in the mornings were very nice. PROS: -Location to downtown, walking distance to most everything. -Nice updated modern rooms CONS: -When checked in room not cleaned well at all (bathroom shower mold all around top. -Hair stuck to metal surrounding bathroom door frame. -The bed fitted sheet was stained in the middle w/ big blood spot (should have never been used). Front desk apologetic but a big turn off. **The most important thing to me in any room anytime is being clean I can handle anything else, but must be clean! -No restaurant in hotel (do have expensive some type buffet breakfast). Major complaint; website says free airport shuttle, Martiott.com website says free airport shuttle. The night before checkout when I inquired about shuttle to airport said it was only available 3p-11p. No where does it say that, anytime, anywhere!! Would not stay at this property again!…
I was in Maine for business and chose this hotel because of its European feel with clean lines and minimalist design. It's located in a walk-able area and offers necessary amenities. Valet was convenient and staff professional and responsive. Front-desk staff was generally helpful and common areas appeared clean. I really liked the hydration station which provided not only ice but water and iced water - great concept. I didn’t get a chance to use the fitness center nor did I eat at the hotel or enjoy the bar. While I liked my guestroom, I was concerned with the hair I found in the shower. I would stay here again.
The room wasn't really clean with lots of hair and crumbs in my room on the hard floor. I requested housekeeping, and while they made the bed and changed the towels, the hair balls remained. Breakfast was basic, the highlight being a waffle maker. Staff Werte very friendly and helpful however.
Post pandemic expectations applied: overlooked understaffing, exhausted employees, pink mold in shower corners or coffee table rug not vacuumed, one of two elevators operational no stairs to be seen. Still, Nessa at the front desk was amazing, a true dedicated custom service front desk rep; helpful, proactive, solutions oriented. One bad apple in the barrel can rot the lot: no Good morning, no nameplate, just a “checking out?” The day manager berated me for asking about our pre arranged taxi set up the day before. Accused me of not actually making the request. Asked if I monitored the front desk person make the taxi reservation , twice! The inference being that I should have lorded over her. Expected me to call for a ride. Basically was leaving the front desk area because he was done. Raised his voice, accused me of not making a transportation plan. Aggressive, angry inappropriate day manager. Encountered many like him, but not as managers. Reflection of Marriott? Bonvoy, malvoy.…
Room was filthy dirty! Took photos. Bottom of socks were black after walking around in room. Wiped toilet off with Lysol wipe and it was brown. Truly disgusting. Spent $1400 for two nights in a dirty room with family. Would never recommend this place to anyone that cares about sleeping in a dirty room with germs and dirt and who knows what else you’re being exposed to. Shower has black mildew corners, not enough towels, elevator broken so have to wait and cram with others in the only elevator for six level hotel. Worst hotel on our vacation. Would love to know why this place is such a dump and yet one pays a premium price. Very disappointed.
Very nice hotel. Friendly and competent staff. Great location in downtown Portland near restaurants and the piers. Open 1st floor with lots of seating near the bar area. Rooms are clean, modern and efficient. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed 2 nights recently. Staff was friendly and responsive. Room was nice with a great view of the waterfront. Lots of great restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.
