Spend a few days in Portland Maine This hotel is in great walking distance to visit the downtown area which is very walkable. Hotel was clean and staff welcoming. Breakfast is free but lacked a daily menu change — eggs and sausage and waffles - coffee ends at breakfast time ending - would be nice to have all day.
This was girls weekend and I wanted the amenities the studio kitchen would offer. We had 2 queen beds which everyone thought were quite comfortable. We absolutely loved the location. I have never stayed on the East End of Portland, and am so glad I finally did. The hotel hit all the right notes. Clean, quiet location, helpful staff and walking distance to Old Port and the Eastern Promenade. Lots of cool little restaurants right around the corner and down the street. We all enjoyed walking along the water on the Eastern Promenade in the mornings. Breakfast offered something for everyone. The blueberry muffins were surprisingly very good. Scrambled Eggs were cooked perfectly and breakfast sausage good too. Nice selection of Chobani yogurts and waffle maker as well. While nobody is a fan of the Rainforest Coffee that Marriott serves there was a nice assortment of teas. All presented in a large area with plenty of room and lots of options for seating. Parking was in a garage next door. If you get parking ticket at check in it will allow drive in and out access everyday for $30. Very easy to use. I’ve stayed at Westin and Hyatt Place in Portland as well. Personally this property and location is now my favorite.…
What an awful experience! I had my birthday weekend planned. My young grandson was in the area from Texas with his other grandparents and we were coming to see him. We were going to explore old Portland and spend the night on the waterfront. Friday night I got sick. I mean horribly sick. And knew I wouldn’t be able to travel. As soon as I was physically able, I called to cancel my reservation. It was a little before 5am and our reservation was for that evening. The night clerk was clueless. I asked if I would get refunded, and his response was that this was his first cancellation so call back later and the day staff would confirm but he was sure it was no problem. I called later that day as I was still very sick. The front desk clerk said no refund so I ask to speak to a manager. She put me through and nobody answered. I left a message. The next day, another. 4 times I did this. I finally spoke to another person in front desk who I believe was actually the manager, I explained that I would have rebooked or something but he said no. No refund as it wasn’t within the 24 hour cancellation policy. I explained I called as sun as I could. He was heartless. I will never stay at another Marriott again.…
One member of our party was running the marathon and this hotel was a great location for her and the spectators. We were able to see her several times by walking and she easily walked to the start/finish lines. The room was newly renovated, so it was very nice. We loved having a door separating the bedroom from the living room. This works well as I go to bed well before my husband! The room was very clean and comfortable. Plus, it was very quiet. The fitness room was well equipped. The breakfast was nice. There was a great selection of healthy options plus non-healthy ones.
Super easy check in. Everyone was wonderful and eager to help. Awesome staff! Room was clean and spacious. Easy walk to waterfront and restaurants. The only negative is the motor court when you pull in. If your behind someone in line to check in you’re stuck until they come move their vehicle.
I stayed at this hotel for a week on business. The room was clean and comfortable, the amenities were great-full kitchen, full-size fridge and microwave, stove, pots/pans, all the dishes, glassware and utensils you'd need. I slept really well-didn't notice any noise from the street. It was really convenient and the view of the harbor with all the huge cruise ships coming in and out was super cool. The staff was great-particularly Rashad and Tim at the front desk-very helpful, friendly and professional. The location was very convenient to the Old Port area. Really enjoyed my stay.
Great location. Rooms less than desirable. First night, found blood on sheets and fingerprints on headboard. Carpet outside elevators old and stained. Breakfast -cereal,packaged eggs. Cardboad sausage.
I am a Titanium Elite member and choose Marriott’s for consistency. For the price this hotel charges ($400-$600 per night) you would expect a good experience. This place is a dump. DO NOT stay here. There are homeless people living here who smoke cigarettes out side the lobby all day, the staff is rude, they don’t clean the rooms, the carpeting has holes and on and on. I don’t typically write reviews but felt the need to do so here to warn fellow travelers.
Overall, a decent stay during our midweek 2-night stay. Check in was smooth, we were on a room on the 5th floor. Had a room with a view of the court yard, would have been nice to be given a harbor view room with my Titanium status, but it did not impact my rating of this review. Room was a 1 bed king, with a separate bedroom from the living room/kitchen space. Room was clean upon our entry. The bed room was very tight, no room to store luggage. There is a closet that worked for one piece but the other piece, was stored in the living room. Furniture has seen better days, arms on the chair was worn thin and there were stains on top the couch. Bed was comfortable and bathroom space was adequate for 2 adults getting ready. Surprised there was no recycling bin in the room, but impress they had a carbon monoxide detector in the room. Usually don’t see that, but it’s a great safety feature. Also, we had housekeeping during our stay without having to ask. Standard full breakfast that is common with RI hotels each day is back. Eggs, sausage, fruit, coffee, oatmeal, pastries, and self-made waffles. The area around the waffle maker gets very congested, would be nice if the station was not in the middle of the “buffet” line, but off the side to reduce disruption in the flow of individuals. Parking is extra at $30 a night and right next door, easy in and out with a scan tag. The hotel is waking distance to downtown shopping, eating, tours and harbor. Portland is an easy town to walk around without much effort. Lots of great looking Marriott properties in the Portland area, if I was traveling by myself, I would have selected the Westin for lounge access, but since we were also traveling with others. The RI was the perfect set up as we needed a 2-bedroom for another party in our traveling group.…
No more evening social, no coffee in the lobby, no maid service. Why am I paying $450 a night? Breakfast was inedible, scrambled eggs, a staple, were tasteless. Bar was closed because they didn’t have a bartender. Is brand loyalty even worth it anymore? Outdated old hotel with noisy plumbing. Location is about the only thing going for it.
