Our room appeared clean at first glance but when going to bed we pulled back the covers to what appeared to be blood stained sheets. After calling the front desk to request new sheet, we were not even extended an apology. After waiting for 15 minutes, someone brought new sheets and handed them to us at the door. We then had to strip the dirty sheets and put on the new sheets ourselves. Highly unimpressed, especially for the price we paid.

This hotel is located right in the Old Port district of Portland. It is surrounded by many of the bars, breweries and restaurants that make Portland such a great destination. The hotel itself is super clean and comfortable. They have an indoor pool, free breakfast and a kitchen in each room. I am a lifetime platinum Marriott member and was well taken care of.

We just stayed at the Residence Inn and enjoyed our stayed except for a few small concerns. PROS: Good location just a few blocks walk from the Old Port. Very close to several nice restaurants (Eventide, East Ender, Duckfat and Fore Street). The rooms are great with a small kitchen with microwave, full fridge and a small cooktop. I love the fact that the shower/toilet are separate from the vanity and mirror so someone can be showering while others are primping, brushing teeth etc. Rooms are also SUPER quiet. We heard nothing from our neighbors from within the room. When I was in the hallways going to grab breakfast I could clearly hear them but not from within our room. And no traffic noise either. The hotel has a small pantry with some microwaveable meals, candy and sundries. The pool is good sized and even though the capacity is limited because of Covid our kids were able to swim for about an hour when they wanted to. Breakfast was fair given that it is Covid. Various cereals, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, English muffins and bagels. We discovered there were actually bagel, egg and sausage sandwiches too although this wasn’t on the “menu”. CONS: We are never, ever acknowledged as Elite Bonvoy members. When you spend upwards of $100,000 on a credit card each year it would be nice to be acknowledged. The lounge was advertised as being open on their website but was not. This was a bummer as we wanted a cocktail/nightcap. We specifically stayed here over neighboring Hampton Inn because their site indicated their restaurant wasn’t opened....when it actually WAS! There was no decaf coffee at breakfast. As someone who loves coffee but is adversely affected by caffeine this was a disappointment. I did make some in the room but the coffee maker is SUPER noisy. It woke everyone up. Also my request for a late checkout was denied. This was a real disappointment as we wanted to explore the Old Port for awhile before heading out but felt rushed out of the parking garage. Also, we really would love to see the addition of a hot tub. All-in-all this is a nice hotel but they could make their Bonvoy members feel a bit more appreciated and improve their amenities information on their website.

I live locally and stay at a hotel about once a month to get work done since the whole family is home during the pandemic. I had a really upsetting experience during my first (and last) stay here. A gentleman struggling with addiction issues was trying to check in for a full month stay while I was checking in, and the front desk staff was understandably distracted and shaken by the experience. Unfortunately this meant I was charged twice for my room, which I only noticed after going over my credit card statement (I was not notified that I was going to be charged-- I was asked to swipe for incidentals). In general, as a single woman traveler I didn't feel super safe, which is a very strange feeling to experience in my hometown. I just spoke with a manager and she acknowledged that the double charge was staff error. Again, I never saw a bill for the second charge and would not have noticed if I hadn't checked my statement. I think there are management and safety issues. There are many, many other great places to stay in the area-- I would absolutely pass.

I am sorry to read that your first stay to the Residence Inn was not as expected. When working with the general public, we have to be trained to work with a multitude of people and their individual situations. I am sorry to learn that a billing issue did occur. though billing errors are rare, they can happen from time to time. I am delighted that when brought to the attention to the hotel that we were able to quickly rectify bill. It is always recommended to review the finalize receipt and bring any question to the attention of the front desk team.

Our studio didn't disappoint. The kitchenette has a full-sized fridge and micro-wave, the bed is comfortable and the room was spotless. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The only reason we didn't give it 5-stars was that the pool needed a good cleaning. Even so, we'd definately stay here again!
