This was our second visit to the Inn on Carleton and it impresses as much the second time as the first. The rooms are full of thoughtful amenities, gorgeously decorated in turn of the century style and the clientele is almost always cosmopolitan. The breakfasts are scrumptious, served in two courses, fruit and a sweet bread, then a savory protein....

Our pleasure!! Thanks so much for your kind words. Autumn especially brings so many interesting, gracious guests from around the world who are touring New England. The best part of this experience is cooking for guests who appreciate fine breakfasts.

Recently stayed just the one night, wish it could have been more but we were touring & booked in elsewhere. Enjoyed every minute, from the welcome to the plentiful breakfast. Great location. Highly recommended.

Stayed two nights in Room 1, second floor. Big room with windows to the front of the house. Quiet street here, no problem to leave the windows open at night. On site parking was nice. Good bathroom with a large shower and counter space for your stuff. Breakfast was excellent both days, wonderful presentations. We walked to dinner downtown and...

We stayed one night at this Inn and wished we had longer. Leo and Patty were gracious hosts with an eye for detail and design. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully prepared, our room was comfortable and private shower was large which is not often the case in a renovated older home like this. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Thank you kindly. We so wish that guests would indeed stay more than one evening. Portland has so much to offer. Let it not be a short stop on your way North.

I was immediately taken with the location of this B&B. A lovely old neighborhood with beautiful old homes and plenty of nearby restaurants helped make this a great place to stay. Free parking is a plus. Leo met us at the door and was helpful in getting us settled into our room. The bedroom was spacious and had a window...

Good to hear from you thank you. Happy that you enjoyed the breakfasts. We are so fortunate to have ensuite bathrooms in our "1869" home. Indeed that room has a small shower and is described as such on our website and priced accordingly. On that day unfortunately the city was doing work that affected the water pressure so we do...

Leo and Pat run a relaxed operation at this conveniently located B/B. 15 minute walk to the Old Port through a vibrant city. Extremely clean and well kept. Comfortable traditional rooms in a brick Victorian brownstone. Sumptuous breakfasts. Nice garden for morning coffee and the Portland paper. We've stayed at a lot of B/B's and this is at the top....

The beautifully appointed Inn on Carleton hit all the right notes , beginning with a memorable breakfast accompanied by a wonderful opera singer. The talented young man lives right next door and sang for us at 2 of our breakfasts. Patti's lemon croissants were to die for. We stayed in the green room in the front of the Inn. The...

A million thanks for the great review of your "classy" stay here at the INN. Indeed our B&B here is unique on the West End. We are an experience for those that love accommodations apart from a regular hotel. We always share our recommendations with our guests to steer them on the right path for the best food, attractions and...

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Carleton Inn. Absolutely gorgeous Inn in great location. Leo and Patty were very hospitable and we had delicious breakfast! P. S. - we mistakenly left an article behind and Leo was so nice and very accommodating to drop it in the mail.

Happy that you had a wonderful stay here at the Carleton Inn. What a great weekend marking the end of summer. The Autumn here in Portland is just as glorious though.

Delicious food. Breakfast was wonderful. Our room was on 3rd floor small bath but otherwise nice. Very clean. Nice private back for sitting reading glass wine. Within walking distance to restaurants etc.

Thanks for the nice comments of your stay here at the inn. We are so fortunate to have bathrooms in suite in all of our six rooms in our "1869" house albeit in that room smaller than the rest but priced accordingly. Our garden for the guests is an oasis so enjoyed in the warmer months. Happy that our guests...

We enjoyed during 4 nights a large and confortable and cosy room. Patricia and Leo offered every morning a delicious fresh and healthy breakfast. One morning, an opera artist sang and played piano, it was such a wonderful surprise! Leo and Patricia were so gentle and helpful, they gave us a lot of good tips to discover Portland and the...
