Our clean and comfortable room 516 was the perfect base for walking all over historic Portland, Maine. We could look down over the port and watch the cruise ships dock and depart on their NYC/Montreal RTN route from our large picture window. This room has everything a traveler needs... a comfortable lounge style sofa with an over-the-sofa table, plenty of drawer space, a large flat screen TV, a desk, a fridge ( NOT an annoying minibar!) a microwave, a King sized bed, a bathtub with a shower, and bathrobes on demand for the indoor pool/hot tub. There is a coin operated washer and dryer, so pack a roll of quarters. The location is ideal to explore the pubs and restaurants and it is right next door to a good bottle shop with a great wine selection from all over for a night in. Whole Foods is an easy walk up Pearl Street, just past Lancaster. They have a good selection of prepared meals. In the other direction it is fun to walk all over the West End and Downtown to admire Portland's architecture. Walgren's is close by. The hotel has a good restaurant and bar on the ground floor as well. The staff is helpful and friendly, and housekeeping is daily.

If you are looking for great value for money, this is your place. Best pricing of the various hotel chains and outstanding location right on the waterfront within a block of the Oldport section of Portland, Maine. But the most striking aspect of our stay is the friendliness of the staff. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Very forthright with ideas of what to do during the day and where to go and really conversational. Not overbearing at all. Just the perfect mix. Same with the waitresses for breakfast. Everyone says people in Portland, Maine are extremely friendly. So not sure if this is due to that, or whether this hotel really goes over and above to ensure its guests feel great, comforted and secure. Added bonus is that checkout is not until noon. Gave us another morning of fun activities before departing. We will definitely stay there again.

I've stayed in more Hiltons properties than I can count, from Doubletrees to international Hilton Hotels. Portland's Hilton Garden Inn offers one of the best stays I've enjoyed. The staff is superb and constantly try to give every guest a wonderful experience. They truly seem to care about their guests. In a perfect location for exploring Portland, some of the rooms offer such great views of the harbor and its action that it's tempting to linger in the comfortable little couch by the windows. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, while the lobby is warm and inviting. The manager of this hotel seems to anticipate guests' needs ,and her commitment to making sure her guests enjoy perfect stay shows in every aspect of the hotel. I can't wait for my next stay.

This is an outstanding Hilton to stay at. No werewolves hiding in the shower, unlike the Marriott up the street. The room was devoid of venomous jellyfish, and the valet was competent with parking my classic M48 MBT in the garage, even though it didn’t fit. Kelly at the bar was a treasure as always. I’ll be back for sure!

We just stayed 1 night.

Decent sized room with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed.
Breakfast was al a carte table service, which was nice - made a change from the other self service options we have had.

On site valet parking was great and staff were lovely, let us use the facilities after checking out, and gave our 3 little children a Maine Lobster soft toy each, which they love.

If you have little ones, they also loved the small train (out the hotel and turn left)

The main draw here is the location - right on Portland harbour. Lovely restaurants and bars, and boat watching on the door step.

5/5 - Perfect Honeymoon Stay!

We chose the Hilton Garden Inn Waterfront for our honeymoon, and it was perfect! The room was spotless, the location unbeatable with gorgeous waterfront views, and the staff made us feel right at home. A special shoutout to Kelly, the bartender—she was awesome and made our evenings so much fun with great drinks and conversation. Highly recommend for a clean, comfortable, and centrally located stay in Portland!

This hotel has the convenience of being along Commerce Street which is directly along the waterfront. There is car valet service available with a good size over-hang just in case of rain or even snow. The attendants are quick and friendly.

Checking in was no problem. The clerks were friendly to give us some local advice of restaurants.

Our room was a tad outdated but comfortable. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the soft pillows. Our room did overlook a parking garage across the street which became a hang-out for a few homeless persons.

The room had a good size TV and a small refrigerator. The bathroom was small but doable.

We opted for the parking package. Our total hotel bill was over $1000 for 2 nights. I think Hilton should have thrown in a breakfast for good measure. We will consider going to the Hampton not far away.

Across the street is a fine restaurant called “Scales.” The squash side-dish is something we will never forget—do delicious. A popular bakery is open next door to this Hilton. Not far along the Eastern Promenade Trail is good pizza place called Brickyard Hollow Brewing Company.

We did take a ride out to see the famous Portland Head Light House. It was a rainy day, but the views along that coast are spectacular.

The walk and or train ride along the Eastern Promenade Trail was memorable. We liked going up to the street above and seeing the old-time homes

I generally have liked Hiltons including many stays at Hilton Garden Inns, which typically are 3-star hotels priced around $180-$280/night. With no reason to assume anything different, I booked a weekend for myself and my wife to attend a local reunion. We were given a second floor room facing busy Commercial Street with street musicians and rowdy Saturday night crowds. Temperature control was variable, the room was nothing special, and in the garage where they parked our vehicle the seagulls dropped poop on the vehicle. (The valets were actually the best hotel staff in terms of service.) I then discovered on checkout that we were charged $650/night for all this, something I've never been charged even at a regular Hilton. We are severely disappointed and will not do this again.

Some hotels get it, and HGI Portland Downtown Waterfront is one of those hotels. The staff is welcoming, Covid-observant in our experience, and ready to answer any questions. We were traveling with kids and they accommodated our request for rooms right away. We had also forgotten a few toiletry items and they provided no problem. The location is EXCELLENT! Easily walkable to Old Port restaurants and shopping, including Eventide right behind. We would put our names in at a restaurant, then go back to the hotel to have a drink and look out the window at the water. The breakfast was plentiful, the indoor pool sized just right for kid exercise, and while we had no need to do business the business center looked fine. Location very easy off the highway, and while we are not usually big on valet parking it was pretty affordable and much easier than dealing somewhere else. Just a great hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Portland for one night, and it was fantastic. Despite our late arrival, the valet and night desk manager were kind and accommodating. We were pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary breakfast the next morning when we hadn't realized valet parking incurred a fee. As Diamond members, we were upgraded to a spacious business suite, and the snacks left by the hotel managers were a generous touch. The entire staff was friendly and attentive, making our stay truly memorable. Highly recommend!

Good morning! I apologize we did not see this question pop up. At this point our airport shuttle is not running. We do help get cabs called for guests to get back to the airport and there is a taxi stand at the airport outside of baggage claim. Safe travels.
