Although more on the edge of the central area, you can definitely walk to a lot of places including Standard Baking Co. Being here in November, it was off peak, quiet, and colder so we did drive most places but for that off peak room price, I didn't even mind paying for the daily valet parking, albeit on the high side.

I originally chose this spot because it had a washer and dryer available which we needed since we were on a 10-day New England/Montreal trip. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean, a good size that my friend was able to hang out all afternoon talking and beds were comfortable but it was the little touches that really impressed me. An air purifier was in the room, you can warm up the water in your shower without being drenched and the little nook for you to place your bath towels so it's within reach after you are done with your shower was very well thought out.

Being able to request your car via a QR code from your room meant we didn't have to wait long for the car, if at all. Just note that we were there during non-peak so not sure if that is still the case during peak summer months.

The pool was nothing fancy but a great way to get some exercise in the morning before heading out. Having the room as well as the pool heated was perfect for those November days.

Great location, but pricey for what it is! Beware-do NOT rely on free hotel shuttle service. We were promised airport pickup. On arrival we called and were told 15 min, kept calling back every 15 min told the same thing. Finally took an Uber after an hour + of waiting. Once at the hotel the wait for shuttle service was 30+ min every time we wanted to use it and you can’t reserve. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice pick of restaurants, shops in walking distance.

Hope S, thank you for reviewing our hotel on Tripadvisor and providing feedback on our shuttle service. We do our best to offer the best estimates that we can, unfortunately in the summertime those estimates can be skewed with the volume of calls and increased amounts of people here. I hope the next time you are here you give our hotel and shuttle service another shot. Thankyou again.

Newer Courtyard hotel with all the amenities you would expect at a Marriot. Convenient location right on Commercial Street, overlooking the port. 10 minute walk to the center of the Old Port. Spacious lobby with breakfast offerings. Like all hotels in this area, there is optional valet parking service at $35/Day, which is reasonable for this area.

Worst hotel experience ever! We found the laundry services and paid $10 to get pillows, a bath mat and fresh towels because we used them for the bath mat: there are no professionals at this site. The front desk is closed and the staff do not care. Awful

Do not stay here AC went out and hotel (franchisee) just called an HVAC 40 minutes (7:30 pm) ago and AC has been out since this afternoon. No offering of discounts or anything - other than check out and future days will be refunded. This franchise needs to do better.

In September, we were charged luxury prices for a basic room. There were no amenities to speak of. Our moldy bathroom offered a single piece of hotel soap, that's it. In addition to the room expense, you will get an additional daily "valet" charge for your car to be parked in an open lot 20 yards from the entrance. You also have to Buy coffee and old pastries in the lobby during your stay. The location is nice, but there are other places - and you won't feel so ripped off.

Daydream140151, thankyou very much for reviewing our hotel on Tripadvisor. We pride ourselves on delivering great service and i apologize that we fell short during your stay. September is certainly a great time to visit Portland, however it does tend to be a very expensive time of year as well. I am very sorry your stay fell short of yours and our expectations, hopefully if your travel brings you back to Portland you will give us another shot to meet and exceed your expectations.

Let me start by saying the Hotel location is perfect it’s in the middle of everything without being in the middle of everything.
I love the fact that I can walk everywhere very convenient and some of the best restaurants in Portland are right down the street. But that being said this Hotel needs much better management! How do you run out of eggs for two days? Their already limited on their menu for breakfast also espresso machine was down! What’s the point of the app if it doesn’t work??? I went downstairs to pick up my order and they didn’t even have it! Also housekeeping is doing the best they can but waiting over an hour for fresh towels when I ordered them on the app is unacceptable and super frustrating! I’m a Bonvoy platinum member and by no means did I feel special at all during the stay and it was my birthday!
I completely understand Covid I have a business myself but I came here spending good money to enjoy my family trip not to be stressed out. The front desk girls are in lolly land . The one thing I will say the valet parking guys are very sweet I always had my car in front ready to go very accommodating. They helped bring the luggage in and out they went above and beyond!

Spouse and I were eager to resume our annual trek to Portland after two years of quarantining due to the Covid shutdown and we tried this hotel for the first time. We were on the 4th floor and paid extra for a room with a view of the sea, although once in our room we observed that the sea was well beyond a large parking lot and some industrial buildings. Both the room and queen bed were very clean and comfortable. There was a small fridge. However, the small bathroom had no tub at all but only a large, rectangular tiled shower behind a thick, fixed stationary see-thru (not at all frosted) glass door. No curtain. This effectively made it impossible to have any privacy while showering. (We have travelled around the world and have never seen anything like it.) We stayed two nights: a Thursday night, for which the room rate was $121, and the Friday night for which the rate was $247. (Not a typo.) We were advised at check in that there would be no maid service. At one point we could hear talking and laughter in the adjoining room. Breakfast was not included but could be purchased in the dining area. ($8. for a yogurt cup.) Parking was by valet only, at a nearby garage, and parking charges were issued for each instance in the day that the car was retrieved. We eventually avoided the charges (and tips) by parking on the street in front of the hotel and feeding meters often. The one bright spot in our stay was the unfailing warmth and friendliness of the women who staffed the front desk of the hotel.

Valet parking young man was nice. From there you’re on your own, which is fine if you don’t mind spending about $500 after the room and fees plus parking. No offer for helping with luggage, which is fine, I guess. Room was the usual, broken seat on the toilet, which we did let them know. Great location but nothing extra special. Would recommend Luke’s for lunch and Becky’s for breakfast, both really good.

Stephen P, thankyou for reviewing our hotel on Tripadvisor, we truly appreciate both the positive and negative feedback that you provided. My apologies that we did not help you with your luggage and the toilet seat was broken when you checked in to your room. These are definitely things that we should have caught prior to your arrival or assisted you with. We all agree with you about Lukes and Becky's you hit some great spots while you were here.

Any review of a hotel or restaurant is a mix of objective and subjective criteria. We had done our homework and chose this Courtyard for a combination of factors: our respect for the track record of the brand, the invariable quality and courtesy of Marriott staff, the location, the amenities, the bang for the buck. Located at the quieter end of Commercial Street, it is a reasonable walk or short drive to many of the things you might want to see in the city.

With parking at a premium in Portland, the hotel offers valet parking at a price, and there is some free and metered parking across the street and next to the hotel, catch as catch can. Don't park in the large half empty lot across the street, which is privately owned.

So, in the year(s) of Covid, don't expect Courtyard's usual breakfast. You can get some very average offerings at a high price in the lobby, graciously served, but still the basics. If weather and time permit, there are more interesting offerings nearby.

My main complaint, and what nearly drove this review into the average or worse category, is attributable to some very inconsiderate guests. A hotel has limited authority to control the behavior of its patrons. Only in spy books and movies is the Night Manager the enforcer/sheriff. But at 2:30 in the morning some "musicians" in a neighboring room chose to practice with guitar, drum beats on a table and a less than pleasant voice. I have found the worse musicians are, the louder and more repetitive they become. Don't get me wrong, I respect musicians, and my Dad was a band leader.

I called the front desk, and a hotel employee was sympathetic and managed to quiet things down...for a time. Unfortunately, the same group went back to their jam session from 4:30 to 6 AM, and again at 7 AM for awhile. I didn't want to cause an incident, so I didn't escalate the situation with the front desk again. I believe in freedom of expression, but also respect for others-which was not shown here. I don't know if the walls were as thin as a cheaply built college dorm, or the "musicians" were at full tilt-but either way, I got no sleep.

So, would we stay here again? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Is it fair to blame a hotel for unruly guests. That is the subjective/objective question.

AFL95, yes there will be construction going on in June, however the majority of the "noise making" construction is being done currently, and there are only 8 rooms that are really affected by the noise. or the view.
