Like so many amazing places in Maine, they cannot stay a secret forever. If it were not for the owner who we befriended of whom I want for him success, I wouldn’t say a word. Since this is his livelihood and because he works so hard to maintain this gem’s beauty, I must confess. This is how real coastal Maine should be done, truly a lovely place. On the surprisingly beautifully landscaped property, where wild flowers, humming birds and the meticulous landscaping, you will find many rustic, yet very charming cottages. Our stay at the captain’s cottage, at high tide put us a matter of 10 or so feet from the Atlantic. When the tide is out, there are seemingly endless tide pools to explore, sea shells to admire and birds abound. Near bliss. Inside you will find all you need to find comfort. We were pleasantly to see owner Richard come around one morning offering linen service, offering fresh towels and the like. The cottages offer enough comfort but are rustic enough to maintain the rustic feel that is coastal Maine. With a complete kitchen to prepare your locally harvested seafood, an outdoor impeccably clean bbq grill you have all you need to eat in comfort. There are plenty of chairs surrounding the fire pit outside to make s’mores or simply relax. And with each cottage providing a porch with chairs overlooking the ocean, you will find it difficult to leave. This type of destination is only as good and hopefully made great by its caretaker. As a Maine native myself, Richard is a Mainer through and through. Richard is truly a blessing to his guests. So yes, visit you will not be disappointed. In turn, I hope that this dedicated man continues to prosper. But let’s try to keep this gem our secret. Thank you dearly Richard. The Boutin family.

These cottages aren't for everybody, I can promise you that. They are old, simple converted shacks, most likely, but are rustic and charming all at the same time. They are very basic in their amenities, but they have everything you might need, save a TV, and really, you don't need to be watching TV anyway when you have the harbor lapping at your front deck when the tide is in. Crazy thing is that the place DOES have an internet connection, which made me laugh, but the owner knows that is required far more than a TV is .... Such a simple and comfortable stay, that I returned here for a second night after a hectic day in Bar Harbor. If you want quiet and secluded and affordable, this is your place, but you are still close to good eating nearby, and even some galleries ...

Quaint rustic cabins, tucked into private settings, all with nice peaceful surroundings and beautiful harbor views. Cabins are very basic, a bit dated, but clean and fulfill the needs of families or couples. Simple kitchenettes, but enough to prepare meals if desired. No TV, but there is wifi. Richard, the host, is very knowledgeable of the area and happy to help with suggestions/directions. We really enjoyed our stay and as long as you come with the understanding that this is a cottage and not a hotel room, you will be happy. Minutes from Acadia Schoodic Peninsula, which is the second part of Acadia National Park, and is as beautiful and much less crowded than Bar Harbor. Like most of Maine, there are no sand beaches, only rocky coasts. High/Low tide really is dramatic here. Many great restaurants and some good local artists too. Also, this is a pet friendly property.

Rented a cottage here and sorry I could only stay for one day. Cottage is charming, very basic, and on the rocks overlooking beautiful Prospect Harbor. Very quiet and rural. There is a tiny porch on the front and flowers growing at the windows. A two-burner stove and a fridge, simple bath with shower. Open windows. I hope to visit again when I can stay longer.

This was the second time we've stayed at Albee's. Like the first time a couple years ago, it was an excellent experience. The setting is just spectacular--quiet, feet from the ocean, with no commerce around the harbor except the lobster boats coming and going down at the lobster facility a half mile down the harbor. The cottages are a bit ramshackle, but they're as clean as possible. Richard is a very welcoming owner, always attentive, ready to help out any way he can. It's such a great spot. We spent hours with the kids exploring the rocks and tidepools, basking in the sea breezes and listening to the sea. We sat out on the rocks listening to the waves and watching the stars. It's so quiet. Just amazing!
