We did not get the full experience because we did not stay although we had a prepaid reservation. The property description on the website that I used to make this reservation states that there are shared bathroomS, yes, plural. Upon arrival I was shown what would be my room, and then we walked through what I guess is an office, not a private hallway, and then alongside the restaurant to reach the one and only bathroom. The truth is that the one bathroom is shared not only with other room guests, but also the owner's family AND apparently restaurant guests. You know how nasty restrooms can be in a restaurant. If the restaurant were busy, would a room guest have to take a number and wait in line for the bathroom? This was unacceptable to us and the owners refused to give a refund.
We chose this place as a Harvest Host site which is for recreational vehicles to park. It was not suitable, not level, not paved, nor level grassy area. The owner seemed very welcoming but it wasn’t for us. As others have said the exterior is not tidy, welcoming, or charming in any way. If I were passing by, I would never stop.
How to rate this? Expectation setting: not romantic, not corporate, not tidy. You aren't going to find heated towel racks. Cute quiet farm with absolutely NO VIEW on the outside. Inside is stock full of every imaginable knick knack, herb, stone, gem, baked good, pantry item, etc. Oddly enough this is also a little Mexican restaurant. You are instantly treated as family and friend. Staff is warm to the max. Price for this all was very reasonable. I was offered a meal though it was outside restaurant operating hours, and an excellent meal it was-- though I wouldn't actually call it Mexican. But fresh ingredients cooked very well and creatively served. I had huevos rancheros for breakfast as well, which again was not like any huevos rancheros I have ever had. But a creative fresh take on a classic. Very reasonable, one might say cheap prices. The shower was actually pretty nice but no where to put clothes. Room was not at all comfortable to me, and mattress was hard with hard pillows. Why this gets a 4 not 5. But I am not sorry I stayed here at all. And one of the more fun places I went to on a very long trip. This place is remote. Expect a bit of GPS trouble (although it got me there) and not great wifi.…
Home grown organic veggies. Breads, rolls, cakes, cookies all made on site. The staff made me feel right at home, so much so I was tempted to roll up my sleeves and ask what I could do to help. If you want a place to relax, gather your thouhts, this could be what you need.
Enjoyed this quiet Maine farmhouse Co-op . Very nice service. Only 3 rooms one on ground floor. Shared bathroom. Silver the cat greeted us. Roosters , horses, fresh garden produce , canned goods, bakery, and a cafe in season. Had a great breakfast cooked by the owner . Our Westie loved walking the area and no extra charge for her! Only problem is the hard water there which if you have it stains toilet and / or porcelain fixtures. Looks brown but was very clean. Super quiet . Very eclectic and interesting gift shop where I did some Xmas shopping. If you are tired of cookie cutter motels and want the feel of staying at a friends home try this place!
