Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was in one of the outlying cottages and had a lovely view of the fjord. It had a gas-burning stand-alone fireplace and sliders to a small deck. The room did not offer a small refrigerator, which we would have liked. The bathroom was dated and the window was alternately stuck...

I'll just start out by saying, the hotel and grounds are actually very nice. The view, one of the best. The room we had was sized just right for the two of us in two twin beds. The bathroom was huge in comparison to the bedroom. I loved the snail mail confirmation letter, i thought this was a great touch....

My partner and I spent a long time researching hotels near Acadia National Park and although it was very expensive, decided upon the Claremont. We checked in at approx 8.30pm on a Sunday evening and the lady behind reception couldn't wait to get rid of us, even though there were no other customers waiting for anything. She didn't volunteer any...

Old world elegance on a beautiful property with just amazing views of Somes Sound. No AC but cool enough in late August. We did not try the restaurant although have heard it was one of the best on the island. Southwest Harbor is much less crowded and crazy than Bar Harbor so this is an excellent place to stay while...

Huge grand old building tucked into the top of Somes Sound . It's seems a little out of the way but I'd perfectly place out of town w/ 15-20 walk to shops if you like . Had a real comfortable king bed in a cute room overlooking frount lawn and water. Hotel is well kept up and very comfortable.Enjoyed our...

We spent the weekend at the Claremont Hotel. It is exquisitely one of the hotels with enormous character from staff to food, from rooms to Maine ocean location. We have been here before and have loved it. We come for the music; we come for the quiet; and we come for the absolute understated wonderful quality of the hotel. The...

Beautiful location. Room was a bit small and had a smell of urine to it. Daily cleaning of the bedroom and bathroom were not the best. We were there 5 days and it was getting a bit nasty. House keeping tended to just make the bed, remove trash and change the towels. Bathroom was not properly cleaned. Room for improvement...

We have visited The Claremont whenever we have been in Southwest Harbor. The restaurant overlooks the mouth of Soames Sound over a well maintained lawn. But the feature that keeps us going back is the wine list. If you enjoy French wines, the Claremont has the best priced Red Bordeaux selection that I have found anywhere. For example, there are...

The Claremont is an old favorite- arriving by boat to the dock or courtesy mooring and dining at lunchtime in the dockside cafe is not only a unique Maine experience but this year the food took a leap up and is now excellent. Service is great. Standard lobster salad prices. The hotel dining room breakfast which offers a fruit buffet...

The Claremont is one of the most charming hotels on Mt. Desert Island. This historic hotel and additional cottages are a convenient place to stay when visiting Acadia National Park, as well as the rest of the island. It is nestled away in a corner of Southwest Harbor, on what the locals call “the quiet side”. This is a perfect...
