This was a perfect peaceful retreat. South of town, but an easy drive. All rooms are full width of building so have cross ventilation. No need for A/C; fans provided but not needed. The ocean is across the street where there is a natural seawall and tide pools. Just down the street from one of Acadia Nat'l Park's campgrounds with...

Just stayed Aug. 2016 and this was our second stay at the Seawall Motel. Just as our last stay was, the owners and staff were very friendly and courteous. We went there this time to view the annual Perseid meteor shower as this location has a very dark sky, making star gazing and Milky Way viewing amazing. We saw 267...

End of July on the "quietside" of Mount Desert Island is idyllic and our stay at Seawall Motel was comfortable, clean, and welcoming. This is a good place to leave the technology driven life behind for awhile! The motel borders Acadia Ntl Park and Route 102A provides an easy stroll along the shore from the motel to the ANP Seawall "Picnic...

My wife and I were about to head for Nova Scotia, and at the last minute, we decided to visit some old friends in Southwest Harbor. Finding a decent and affordable place in the Bar Harbor area during the first week in August can be a real trial. Off I went to Google Maps and tripadvisor to see if there...

Our family held a reunion at Seawall Motel in July, 2016. We began planning the reunion 3 years before the event. Dave, Vickie & Teresa worked with us to make sure the event was successful. They went above and beyond to insure that our family had everything we needed. They provided a very comfortable & homey meeting space in one...

Dan and Vickie are the very friendly owners. They gave us hints on seeing the lighthouse and were very flexible about helping us out on a rainy day. Loved the location so close to the ocean and a sweet little lake. Very generous breakfast selections. Clean. Mama dear and a fawn in the wooded area. Easy to get to.

We had been at this motel years before, but were as pleased as before. this motel is very well kept, the rates are reasonable , the staff is extremely friendly. It is well situated, very close to the sea, but don't expect a beach. Children and adults alike love to wander on the rocks just across the road and look...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Seawall Motel is located on the quietside of Mount Desert Island in the Southwest Harbor area. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Motel borders the Seawall entrance to Acadia National Park. It adjoins a pine forest and a fresh water pond which provides ample opportunities for birdwatching and scenic photography. The Seawall is a naturally occurring granite, loose boulder and rock seawall with easy shore walks and tide pools to explore. There is a picnic area to watch the waves crash on the rugged shoreline and a spot to watch the sunrise over the Great Cranberry Island. On a clear night, it is one of the best places in the country for stargazing. Just beyond the scenic areas, you'll approach two of the many walking trails of Acadia National Park: Ship Harbor and Wonderland. Each is less than a two-mile hike along the ocean and nature trails. A short drive from these trails is the Bass Harbor Lighthouse that has been guiding mariners with its light since 1858. The dramatic setting, especially at sunset, is a photographer's dream. The Seawall Motel sits directly across from the famed seawall and close proximity to many activities of what the park has to offer. It is a two-story Motel with free Wi-Fi, in-room phones, cable TV and complimentary continental breakfast. These budget-friendly motels has twenty spacious, comfortable, and exquisitely clean rooms with a choice of two-queens or king size beds. A community room is available for all guests to use which includes the vending and ice machine, refrigerator, microwave, and coin-operated laundry machines. The free Island Explorer Shuttle can be accessed from our parking lot for easy travel to restaurants and shops in downtown Southwest Harbor, and to many other locations on the island. Top-rated in TripAdvisor, the Seawall Motel is the perfect place for your Maine vacation! Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the wonderful staff, and freshly brewed coffee ready for you every morning! ... more   less
