Anchor Inn & Cottages garners praise for its friendly staff and efficient service, ensuring a smooth experience from check-in to check-out. While the hotel's location is deemed pretty, having a car is advisable for easier transportation. The rooms have received mixed reviews regarding cleanliness and odors, yet some guests find them to be comfortable havens. Opinions on value vary; some question the price point, while others feel the accommodations are affordable. The atmosphere is generally considered family-friendly, though the dated decor is noted. Amenities like the pool are appreciated, despite calls for more in-room features.

We have visited this area many times however this was the first time we stayed in this hotel. The first room we were assigned smelled of mold - bad and upon inspection there was mold growing on the curtains. There was no way a living being could stay in that room. I told the staff and they immediately moved us. The second room was fresh and clean. The beds were comfortable. Some problems with the details of the room is there’s no bureau, or hooks for clothing. The bathroom sink had no space to put anything down and again no hooks for your travel bag. We could not figure out in our four day stay how to turn off the bathroom light! The shower pressure was good. The room had a small fridge and a microwave. The fridge made a constant engine sound which was annoying. Overall the room was OK but like other reviewers stated, you need your car or a bike to go everywhere due to the location. The trolley was not running down to Wells but how would you know that as it’s not written anywhere?!

We rented Cottage #1 with stove and fridge. No bars in the fridge door, so it is impossible to store them. Dirt embedded on the side of the fridge. A good cleaning or painting is to be prioritized. The 4 rounds of the stove are crushed, not inviting to cook! The only storage unit is 1 nightstand! We had to leave our clothes in our suitcases. No dishes and table linen are provided and we are asked to wash and dry dishes. Mould or dirt at the bottom of a wall.

For the price it was a good place to stay and sleep. Room was a little dated, but clean. There definitely should not be extensions cords in the room to make additional outlets on the opposite side of the bed. Staff at front desk was very friendly.

Customer service was impeccable and they were very friendly. However, the cleanliness of the room was not up to our expectations... And the air-conditioning projected a really nauseating odor. It was very unpleasant.
The location is good, but everything has to be done by car.
I don't think I'd rent there again.

First, I have to say I never write reviews but I felt like i had to warn people. My stay at this hotel was a nightmare from start to finish. I had originally booked a four-night stay, but I couldn't bear to stay more than a few hours. The moment we arrived, it was clear that this place was a health hazard.

we had a large cottage ( 2 bedrooms). The bathroom was infested with black mold, a serious health concern. The kitchen was even worse, with a shocking amount of what appeared to be insect dropping everywhere. The sight of it was revolting and utterly unacceptable.

To make matters worse, there were exposed wires and electrical outlets without covers throughout the room, creating a serious safety hazard. It's a disaster waiting to happen, especially for families with children.

The bed sheets were covered with pet hair, which is not only unhygienic but also a violation of basic cleanliness standards. I couldn't imagine sleeping in those conditions.

Overall, this hotel was a disgrace and a danger to anyone staying there. Unfortunatly we arrived very late and were forced to stay for a few hours until other hotel offices ooen, we left as soon as the office opened and gave us a full refund, and I would strongly advise anyone considering this place to stay far, far away. It's simply horrible.
(one positive note, the staff was actually very friendly and gave me a full refund, it is not their fault and I feel bad for them to have to deal with this)

Dear AlexG000, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Our apology for the difficulties that you encountered during your stay. Our Cottages are the most selling and favorite rentals at Anchor Inn and also one of the few hotels that allow pets in the town. What you experienced is unfortunate; you could have called the after-hours phone numbers on the door and our staff would have moved you to another cottage. Additionally, your observations regarding our maintenance and housekeeping are appreciated, and we will share them with the team appropriately. We hope you will consider staying with us again for your next vacation. Sincerely, Raghu Madhaiyan General Manager

Hello,

I stayed at your Pension on the night of August 20 in room 116 and hated my experience due to the smell of humidity that prevailed there despite the operation of the air conditioning. I just wanted to leave this room as quickly as possible. I do not intend to return to your institution or recommend it the contrary. In addition, the bathroom window had no curtains. Another inconvenience that we had to resolve temporarily.

I hope you will settle the situation for your future customers.

My husband and I booked this place for a rare kid free weekend and it did not disappoint. Staff is extremely friendly and grounds and rooms are spotless. We stayed in one of the cabins and they come equipped with everything you would need. Our kitchen had a full size gas stove, full size refrigerator, coffee pot along with complimentary coffee, toaster, dishes, utensils and pots and pans. Bathroom had the typical complimentary soaps and shampoo. Every cabin had chairs outside where we would sit with our coffee each morning. Throughout the grounds were picnic tables and gas grills for all guests to use. I was really impressed with the pool area as that is where most hotels fail. The pool and pool area were very clean. I was also impressed with how quiet it was at night. This place is located just outside the main hustle and bustle but yet you are within minutes of the beaches and other amenities whether you choose to drive or walk. Will definitely be back!

Upon walking into our room, I noted right away the cleanliness and tidiness of the room, especially the bathroom. Shower soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided on the tub wall. A refrigerator and toaster were in the room, as well. The property is well maintained, and the flowers and garden areas are beautiful. The breakfasts were excellent! Egg and sausage sandwiches, homemade bakery items, baked beans and good coffee were great and the many other foods available were good quality. The houskeeping staff was accommodating and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable.

From the outside it looks really cute. The employees in the office were friendly and professional. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the cottages leave a lot to be desired. You’re expected to leave the cottage wiped down and swept, dishes cleaned and put away, etc. Not a problem except the dish sponge was used and stained, the broom bristles were completely frayed and splayed, dead bugs in the windowsills, and most importantly, one of the bedrooms stank of body odor. When I called the front desk to complain, I was offered room spray and a change of sheets. As I told both of the employees I spoke with, the odor is not in the sheets, which were clean, it was in the room itself and how housekeeping didn’t smell it is unexplainable.

We loved our stay here! The room was clean, the pool area was nice and it was so close to everything. The wi-fi connection was great too. Our building had families with small children like us, so it created a nice environment for my family. It was a very easy trip- will definitely book again!
