I wrote to express our dismay to the management of this hotel about an unwelcome sight upon arrival at the Holiday Inn Express located in Delmar, Maryland on March 30, 2021. Management has not yet responded. So...I am posting here to apprise others of some questionable, appalling activity that occurred , at least on this occasion. We checked in around 8:30 pm. No one was at the desk. Shortly afterwards the desk clerk arrived from the direction of the lounge. We checked in. Then headed towards the elevators...passing a group of men in the lounge area enjoying some pleasure while watching one member of the group being barbered by another. This impromptu “barbershop “ was set up in front of the usual breakfast buffet...currently shut down due to COVID 19 thank goodness. The idea of human hair flying about in such a public place, COVID-19 aside, gave us pause. We almost immediately turned around and checked out. If we hadn’t been so fatigued and facing a very early morning appointment, we would have. In addition, the hallway carpeting looked not to have been vacuumed for some time and the hallways smelled stale. Also, the outside bottom portion of the door to our room was marred...almost as though a dog had scratched upon it. Not sure that was the case...the hotel is supposedly pet negative. Bottom line...we won’t be staying here again. Not our usual hotel experience.…
This property is going through renovations but noise was kept to a bare minimum. We could not hear anything in our room. We did have a problem with our stay but to the credit of the property manager, it was immediately addressed to our satisfaction. To me, customer service is paramount. It means as much to me as a clean room. The beds were clean, fresh and very comfortable. I will say I was disappointed with "breakfast". We were given a prepackaged sweet roll and instructed to go back to our room if we wanted coffee. I explained to the hostess that we had turned in our keys and were planning to "hit the road" immediately after breakfast. I don't understand why they didn't have coffee on hand. They also had prepackaged bagels on hand but you needed to go back to your room to microwave them. It's worth mentioning that this is the only IHG property that we have stayed at that didn't have a hot breakfast option served by property staff.…
I have been an IHG member since 2017. I am a Spire Elite Member since 2017. I have been a loyal IHG member and only stay at IHG hotels while working out of town (which is typically more than half a year). I began my stay at the Holiday Inn in Salisbury/Delmar, Maryland on August 6th. I walked to the font desk and spoke to the attendant face to face my first night due to children on a travel baseball team that were staying in the hotel who were running through the hallways, outside in the pool late at night and slamming doors. The second night I had to phone the front desk to complain about the same issues. Tonight I complained again about the children running around and their parents holding loud conversations outside of my room. I also inquired if it was policy for employees to advertise their political stance on their CDC mandated masks while on the job (I.e a confederate flag. American flag, Betsy Ross flag, or any other flags/stance that could cause offense or make any guest or staff feel uncomfortable.) After returning to my room after this encounter (my 3rd night), I was told that this would be taken care of. My phone in my room rang. I assumed it was a call to apologize or a solution to the reoccurring issue. Much to my surprise, it was a “manager” informing me that I was being given 30 minutes to pack up and be off of the premises before the cops would be called “to make me leave immediately.” The reason given was that I had harassed staff/other guests. When I asked for any proof of such actions on my behalf was told I then had 25 minutes to leave. Much to my disappointment with no proof of any wrongdoing, I packed my belongings with no disrespect to the staff and left within 21 minutes. I do need to add that on August 6, 2020, my first night stay, I had confronted the front desk attendant and she told me that she was actively walking the halls and all three floors and had notified the guests that they could not run the halls and act the way that had been and that “it would be taken care of.” Night number two after the phone call to the front desk, the same attendant told me the exact same thing “it will be taken care of.” Skip to this evening. I had called to complain to the front desk from my room. I was told to hold on and to wait for a call back. When I received the call back it was from another employee that explained to me if there were one more complaint against this group of people, they would be evicted from the premises. At this point with that statement, it was clear to me that I was not the only person complaining. At approximately 6:50pm with another complaint the attendants seemed to have no regard for me whatsoever and after two other issues denounced my presence. I went back to my room and received my call from the “manager” telling me to leave the premises.…
I understand that the hotel is going through renovations right now, but they are about 5 years too late. The 1st room they gave me had a toilet that didn't even flush and a shower that looked like it had just been used. The chair had very questionable stains all over it. The 2nd room they gave me had mismatched paint on the ceilings and the walls of the bathroom. The shower curtain was so old that the finish was gone off of the rings built into it. There was a spot where the paint was peeling off of the ceiling in the bathroom. The a/c housing had turned yellow. There was trash and disconnected brackets behind the nightstands and something I had not seen before; all of the phones had been removed from the room. I had booked 2 nights for business and found that I would be done early. I called the hotel just prior to 1pm to inquire if it was too late to check out with out a charge for the 2nd night. I was fully prepared for a no answer and would have completely understood, but the desk clerk informed that it was no problem. I told him I was 5 minutes away and would be right down. I arrived at the hotel, stopped at the front desk and inquired if it was still okay, before I packed up my room and was told it was no problem. I packed up my room quickly and came back to the front desk, where the clerk now told me I would have to pay for the 2nd night because they cleaned my room. When I informed him that they didn't he went to the manager who now said they had to charge me because they didn't clean my room and housekeeping was gone (now just after 1pm and the cleaners were in the hallway still). When I tried to speak with the manager just just threatened to throw me out and still charge me. This was absolutely the worst Holiday Inn and worst staff I have ever seen. I will never stay at this location again.…
Stayed here because of proximity to friends/family we were visiting. Beds were pretty comfortable and property was fairly quiet. Breakfast area and food was okay. Parking was adequate. Fine for a night or two if you can get a good price.
