We stayed at the Gateway Hotel on the night of October 10th. This is an unassuming hotel, nothing fancy, but with clean, attractive, updated rooms. It’s in a great location to walk to both the beach and the boardwalk and for a quick drive to Assateague. I’m giving it 5 stars because of the great customer service we received. Unbeknownst to us, we arrived on the last night of the “Endless Summer Cruisin’” Car Event. The culmination of this event is for the participants to drive around the streets of Ocean City to show off their cars. People sit in chairs along the streets to watch the hot rods go by. Unfortunately, this also means lots of revving of engines and rumbling of cars that have been purposely tooled for maximum noise. One side of the hotel faces a busy street that has a stop light nearby. While on a normal night this wouldn't be an issue, on this night it quickly became apparent to us that the noise was going to be unbearable and make sleep impossible. We had already been in the room for an hour or two, but when I talked to the staff at the front desk, they were more than happy to move us to another room on the other side of the building. Even though I knew this meant they would have to fully clean and sanitize an extra room, they were quite gracious in accommodating us. We had a good night’s sleep and a pleasant stay.…
We were very disappointed with our stay. We stayed 5 days and did not get any housekeeping. I understand with covid the housekeeping will have limitations but no housekeeping is ridiculous. We stayed an additional day in ocean city, and the other hotel offered housekeeping so it can be done. We also stayed at another hotel the breakers in june, and gave us daily housekeeping. Our carpet needed vacuumed, floor in bathroom needed mopped, shower needed cleaned. We had leave our towels out of the door to get replaced. The room a little small, but the bathroom was very nice. Our key card keeped getting deactivated. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed ive ever slept on. It would have more comfortable sleeping on the floor. If my floor was vacuumed I might of considered that. Location is close to the boardwalk but you have to cross a very busy street to get to it. The staff at front desk was very nice. We requested a wake up call for 9 and got one at 830. All in all I don't know that I would stay again.…
Had a wonderful stay at the Gateway hotel over Labor Day weekend. The room was clean, easy check in process, and only a block away from the beach. Did not have an ocean view from the room, but still a great stay. The outside hose was very convenient to spray off all your beach gear, there was plenty of parking, and staff was all friendly. Due to Covid there was no breakfast buffet, or room service daily, but if you leave your trash/dirty towels outside the room they are licked up quickly and replace with clean towels/garbage bags. It may not be the Ritz, but perfect for a comfortable stay when you don’t spend much time in the room anyway. Will definitely stay here again!
Decided last minute it was time to get away for a few days...Ocean City has been one of our favorite places to go for many years.. Choices of places we had stayed at in the past were booked for part or all of our vacation days..except for the Gateway.. Made reservations for 4 days...arrived late Saturday.. hotel very clean..We seen staff wiping down common area a couple times during our stay. Room was very nice...staff very pleasant and friendly...location was one block off the Boardwalk...and near the inlet.. Due to Covid..no room service. but every time we stopped at the front desk to get fresh towels..or other needed items, staff was glad to provide anything. My only issue was the bed...just a bit too hard for me.. We would stay here again.
A huge Thank you to the Manager Carol! We booked in February 2020 before Covid had everyone on lock down, we called down many times many times and Carol was gracious enough to calm our nerves with each call, we eventually made it down for our 6 night stay at the Gateway, and needles to say, it was great, clean rooms and common area's...the staff was polite and handled our needs quickly and professionally..I will say, for years and years we have stayed at your competition next door and really there is no comparison.. the down fall was the breakfast, however with Covid restrictions, we understand, the room and view by far makes up for that inconvenience. Thank you for the great stay!! Stay safe, Sherry S.. PGH, Pa
