Went here for thanksgiving and was very disappointed. Food was ok but this place is in poor condition and the wait staff was comical. A waiter at a ruby Tuesday knows that you clear before serving the next plate...our waitress was hadn't a clue. Toilet paper on floor of hallway and ceiling looked as if it were going to collapse.... From the moment you drive up to the Robert Morris Inn in historic Oxford, MD, you feel like you've stepped back in time. Checking in: "I'll get your credit card when you leave, I don't need it now," then you get your room keys - actual keys kept in little cubby holes behind the desk; just like you see in... More

We spent one night at the historic inn in Oxford and had the pleasure of meeting the chef/owner Mark Slater. Coming from Annapolis, we know good Maryland crabmeat but the Chef's preparation of crab crostini was the best we have ever enjoyed. For dinner we recognized how much local fish was appreciated and the rockfish was excellent. Even in off... More

We have stayed and eaten at the Inn perhaps a dozen times over the last several decades, most recently in September 2016. This is said to be the oldest continuously operating Inn/hotel in the US, dating from 1710. It is located on Oxford's strand, with views of the Tred Avon River and the Bay. Today, it has one of the... More

We recently spent 3 nights at the historic Robert Morris Inn in Oxford to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Their staff is friendly, helpful, efficient and courteous. The Inn is everything you would hope for in a well-preserved and maintained 300+ year-old Inn. Our historic room in the main Inn was well appointed, clean and comfortable. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once the home of Robert Morris who gained fame as "Financier of the Revolution". General and later President George Washington was a close friend and visited Robert Morris often. In more recent times author James Michener outlined his famous novel, Chesapeake here and fell in love with our renowned crab cakes. More history is located here. Now the Eastern Shore's most unique historic restaurant with rooms under celebrity Chef Proprietor, Mark Salter and Ian Fleming. Enter the Inn and step back 300 years: a pristine yet historic interior welcomes with timber beams, panelled walls and open fires in the cooler months. Through to Salter's Tavern featuring historic red brick walls and old slate floors, with magnificent fires in the cooler months and offering casual outside dining on our Terraces and Veranda during balmy warm summers. This is a truly historic Inn, cosy with a natural patina running through. Friendly, great cuisine and understated professional service. ... more   less
