This was our fifth or sixth visit to Woodlawn and the experience keeps getting better. This time the wine tasting on a sunny Sunday afternoon was a highlight. And the location, on Calvert Creek, could not be more beautiful. It's a special place we plan to return to many times in coming years.

This B&B is situated on the Calvert Creek near the Potomac River’s junction with the Chesapeake Bay. What is your basic reason for staying at a B&B? Assuming comfort and beauty are the first considerations, the second “B” is still an important part of the equation. This one disappointed us on that count –especially the first day. This historic manor...

This August 2013 was our second visit to Woodlawn (the first was September 2012), and we hope to make it an annual tradition. It is difficult to put into words how special Woodlawn is, but I will try to provide some helpful info. The owners, Jim & Maggie, are lovely, down-to-earth, knowledgeable, kind individuals, and great conversationalists. We enjoyed getting...

For the past 8 years, our family (and extended family) have flown and driven from all over the country to Woodlawn for a magical weekend. Having the family together is great anywhere in the world, but to have it at this amazing property makes this my favorite weekend every year. Jim Grube, the man, the myth, the legend, is as...

We just got back from 2 relaxing nights at Woodlawn - a charming, historic bed and breakfast and winery on Calvert Creek. Jim, the owner , was so welcoming and friendly - offered us a glass of wine while we waited for finishing touches on our room. We enjoyed sipping wine and relaxing in their Adirondack chairs overlooking the water....

We responded to a living social deal for this historic bed and breakfast. It was a good price and included a wine tasting from their vineyard. The deal included a tasting of 8 wines . First, the innkeeper was friendly though we were unable to get into our room until close to 4 pm. The arrival time was 3pm. Our...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Woodlawn after coming across a livingsocial deal. Our hosts Jim and Maggie were very warm and friendly and made us feel as if we had known them for many years. They take pride in their winery (yellowlegs was our favorite!) and the winetasting (which turned into many glasses of our favorite wine overlooking the...

The staff is very nice and friendly. We enjoyed the live music and the wine. The rooms were clean and lots of space. The view is GREAT. I don't think they adviserise it enough. Don't expect a large breakfast. It is a few miles from "town" but we didn't find it a problem.

We were able to stay with Jim and Tucker for two days in the middle of the week, the accommodations were exceptional. The grounds were immaculate, we had a nice evening walk, while strolling down the 3/4 mile long driveway we were met by 5 deer who were napping in the wheat field, an osprey protecting her nest and a...

My boyfriend and I were looking for a weekend getaway very short drive from DC and I found 'The Woodland Inn' listed online as one of the best B&B's in this area. The place lives upto its expectations in every way. First of all the staff is exceptionally helpful. We were welcomed by Jean who gave us a tour of...

“There are only two rooms in the main house. The Calvert Suite has the river view. Would recommend. This is an old house but has everything you could want. There are four other buildings a short walk from the house with kitchens and sitting rooms. Some of our group were out there. All have wonderful river views as the river bends right there. No TV .”

“Great view of the water. Make sure that you turn the A/C down before you leave your room. The air doesn't blow very hard and it takes a little while to cool down the room. Firm beds.”
