My amazing husband planned a surprise weekend away at Woodlawn for me and 6 other friends to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was a perfect place to have it! The property sits very close to the water and the beautiful view of the bay is on display from the dining room, the main suite upstairs, and every room in the...

We stayed in the "Sunflower Suite" for one night with our teenage daughter, while visiting a local college. Suite was immaculate, nicely decorated with very comfortable furnishings. Views of the water were stunning. Grounds of the Inn and the interior of the Inn were incredible. Our host, Jim, couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. Our breakfast was delicious. We...

Woodlawn is absolutely stunning, from the location to the buildings to the service, every penny spent here is worth it. I can go on and on about this place, but i'll get to the point, we travelled from Great Britain to the USA over New Year 2010/11 and stayed from New York down through Washington DC, the Bay, Charlotte and...

I visited Woodlawn in the month of October to see a friend and get some distance from a job search. As I entered the quiet countryside of St. Mary’s County Maryland, I could feel myself beginning to relax. The long driveway to the house, with fields on both sides made me feel like I should be in horse and carriage-...

My wife and I have stayed at Woodlawn on many occasions - both in the guest cottages and manor house - and never have we been disappointed. The setting, surroundings, ambience, service, housekeeping, accommodations and attention to detail are unmatched in our experience. We look forward to returning for many years to come to one of our most favorite places...

My wife, dog and I were in the middle of selling our house just outside of Washington, D.C. and decided we needed a close-by break from the madness. Now, I can't believe we're moving after having found such a wonderful place so close to the city. Surrounded on three sides by water and nearly a mile of open fields, Woodlawn...

We got married at Woodlawn last month and it was everything we had hoped for, and more! The property itself is incredible: a charming historic home that overlooks a gorgeous waterfront and is surrounded by the serenity of acres and acres of farm fields. This place is very special. When you arrive, you automatically take a deep breath, your shoulders...

You'd be surprised how relaxing it is to come "home" down a dirt lane past farm fields to a historic home and lodging with beautiful views of the Potomac River. Sunrise, sunset, lightning storms--gorgeous. I was here for a three month assignment. The Woodlawn felt more like a home away frigim home to me. The staff is great and I...

Woodlawn is located on a secluded, water front, historic property in serene Southern Maryland. We were welcomed by our gracious host "Jim" who made us feel quite comfortable. We stayed in the Lord Baltimore room which was expansive, complete with a comfy king size bed, a romantic view of the water, a fireplace, sitting room, large private bath, and period...

Most of the rooms at this B&B are in a modern purpose-built building a short distance from the historic manor house. The rooms were large, clean and well furnished. The only time we were permitted into the main house was during check-in and breakfast. The main house is spectacularly restored and furnished with period antiques. The grounds were enormous, but...

“There are only two rooms in the main house. The Calvert Suite has the river view. Would recommend. This is an old house but has everything you could want. There are four other buildings a short walk from the house with kitchens and sitting rooms. Some of our group were out there. All have wonderful river views as the river bends right there. No TV .”

“Great view of the water. Make sure that you turn the A/C down before you leave your room. The air doesn't blow very hard and it takes a little while to cool down the room. Firm beds.”
