There are many good features to this resort. The problem is that it is too big for the staff maintaining it. We stayed 6 nights at the Britteridge units at The Village complex during Covid. Expecting issues due to that, I had previously checked 2019 reviews and knew there were problems back then, so we prepared ourselves.
Here's what's good and what's lacking:
GOOD: Clean condo apartments with very comfortable beds and plenty of linens.
Fairly recent updates to kitchen (No Oven!) with cooktop, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. All 4 plates, utensils, glasses were in dishwasher upon arrival.
Lynx restaurant was very good with attentive service.
NOT SO GOOD: No frypans, no pots but a 1 quart, no wine opener and many, many other items needed just to have breakfast. They obviously do not inventory anything when guests leave. However, after day 2, we found a garage-type shed where they had items on request. Since there was no answer at housekeeping or front desk on Day 1, we could not request anything. In fact, calls were not answered most times. The phone just rang. No upgrade TV such as free HBO or other channels. $14.00 for a movie. Sliders to balcony did not work due to dirt and debris not cleaned from the tracks.
THE BAD: Each building has 3 units. Walls are extremely thin, and we could hear talking/laughing in the adjacent unit with 2 groups each time. One group occupied the adjacent unit, and one occupied the basement unit where they would all meet in one room to party. Luckily, this ended after midnight.
In summary, the resort needs expert management for the fees charged to stay here. Granted they must be short on staff at this time, but The Village costs far less than the mansion condos. $1800. for 6 nights in the Village vs. $10K for a 3 bedroom in the mansion area. The Village should have it's own management team because it is huge. Here, along with The Arbors are enough condos apartments for another company to handle. Instead, the resort management tries to care for the needs of way too many guests leaving the Village lacking.
The Village is 15 min. from the resort, and guests of the Village may not use the beach but must buy a beach pass from the town.
We would not stay again.

My husband and I have been taking our two daughters to Ocean Edge every year since 2008. We stay in the Arbor Villa section which overlooks the golf course. Every time we've stayed at the resort, we've had nothing but excellent service and accommodations. From our room to the property to the staff to the many amenities to choose from, Ocean Edge always exceeds our expectations.

During our stay in July, we were extremely impressed with how the resort handled the COVID-19 restrictions. The staff and guests were all very respectful of social distancing and when to require masks, yet we truly felt surrounded by a 'vacation' atmosphere. Our room was cleaned by housekeeping each day with extra care given to sanitizing things such as silverware and bathroom items. We were concerned about traveling during the pandemic, but Ocean Edge has clearly implemented an efficient system with everyone's safety a top priority.

I would give this resort 10 stars if I could - I HIGHLY recommend this property for couples, families, big groups, anyone!

We visited in July with our family. We had planned to go to Maine, but decided to stay in state at the eleventh hour and luckily Ocean Edge was able to accommodate our last minute booking! We stayed in Britterige Village Blueberry Pond and were greeted by an newly renovated and immaculately clean room! The room was truly clean and comfortable and we loved having the space to spread out. The kids were comfortable on the pull out couch. We also enjoyed being able to use the washer/dryer in the room. We enjoyed having our choice of pools - there are 3 outdoor pools to choose from and 2 indoor that looked nice, but we opted for outdoor because 2020. And of course the beach is beautiful! We ate at the beach bar which was delicious. Every staff member we encountered was eager to please and masked at all times. We felt reassured by the safety precautions that were in place. A special shout out to Paige at the pool by the Mansion. Her quick action and thinking saved a potentially dangerous situation with a momentarily unsupervised toddler. We really enjoyed the kayaks we rented on property to explore Blueberry Pond. All in all a fantastic stay at a time when we weren’t sure we were going to be able to take a vacation this summer.

Nice resort on the cape surrounded by a golf course. There are alot of condos within different area's of the property some on the golf course others just situated on the property. We stayed at the Arbor Village which is very close to the big pool and golf club and has easy access out of the resort onto Rt 137 instead of driving all the way back through the resort over all of the speed bumps to the entrance. I have to add that there is also another property associated with this one and that is "the mansion" which is 1/4 down the road and the check in spot. It also offers more lodging at a higher price because it is on the water. Plenty of restaurants for takeout very close by with a supermarket, "Shaws" a few miles away. Check out breakwater beach a couple of miles away you need a beach pass for 20.00 which you can get online. Overall a nice place, had some noisy neighbors above us on the last night we were here, (kids running around), so maybe try and get the 2nd floor. Each unit does have a small patio but the 2nd floor is a nicer balcony and we probably would of sat outside on a balcony instead of the patio we had. We had the 1 bedroom which had a small kitchen and living room, the refrigerator was up against the wall as you can see in the photo and the door opened to the right instead of the left which is alot easier to access, (just nitpicking). As expected alot of families with kids maybe less on the mansion side being higher priced but overall we enjoyed this resort.

I called the resort ahead of time to double check I could use the resort amenities prior to check in. They assured me that I could so I arrived around 11 and went to reception on the off chance my room would be ready. I was only then informed that because of COVID check in was now 5PM. Does that warrant a full price stay? I think not . I was then told we were welcome to use “all the pools” but friends have already told us that the one pool with a bar was filled to capacity and offering a wait list. We asked if the receptionist could call around to the other pools to find an open one and she told us that wasn’t possible. When we arrived at the pool to meet our friends who had made it in we were placed on a wait list and it was suggested that we go to the restaurant across the street for a bite to eat. It was 11:45 AM and they were serving “brunch”. By brunch I mean breakfast because there were only breakfast foods on the menu. When I asked if they would be serving lunch at noon they said no, only snacks. After having a drink we find out we could have eaten at the pool bar, which was not filled to capaciry even though the pool was. If we knew, we could have had lunch with our friends, but again, we weren’t informed. The rooms in the village are fine. They smell a bit musty but the beds are comfortable and the suite is roomy. In this day and age communication is easy to maintain with a number of platforms to choose from, this resort needs to do better, given the prices they charge.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about your stay at The Villages at Ocean Edge. We apologize for any poor communication. Due to new COVID regulations, we adjusted check-in time from 4pm to 5pm to allow for a smoother process. Additionally, we do have to follow the capacity guidelines for all of our amenities including the pools. I apologize if at the time you asked our front desk agent was unable to check capacities at the pools. We apologize for the miscommunication about the capacity and the pool bar. Despite this, I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay with your friends. Thank you again for your feedback. Bryan Webb VP of Sales

I was excited to hear I was going to Ocean’s Edge for a 3 day business meeting as I had always been told it was wonderful. Upon arrival at the Mansion I was sure my expectations would be met. The Mansion, and surrounding grounds were just beautiful and the staff was first class!

Unfortunately, that was not the rest of my experience. Let me start by saying I realize things are tough due to the Pandemic and perhaps limited staff. However, what I experienced was due to lack of attention to any detail at all. I will attach a few pictures that will illustrate what I experienced. I was staying in a Britterage Village Villa.

Upon arrival at the unit, it was obvious that maintenance/ cleanliness was lacking. The stairs to the unit were cracked and lacking paint. The entrance hall had dirty classes and garbage on top of the fire extinguisher cabinet in the hall, the carpet has not been vacuumed for many days, there was a automobile carpet mat tossed in the corner (this did not change for the entire 3 days I was there). Once inside the unit I looked around, opened the back door and found a “dead” bird. While this could happen anywhere, it was obvious this has been there for weeks/months as it was merely a skeleton and pile of feathers which should of been taken care of previously (see pic). The bathroom tub only had a shower liner and while the curtain hooks were there, there was no shower curtain. The shower bath control had loose parts while it did operate fine. When filled the steam iron to use it, it leaked water and when I plugged it in the wall to use (after emptying the small amount of water I poured in) some of the lights in the room dimmed and then a breaker in the fuse box tripped.

Additionally, while the Mansion was beautiful there were wilted/dead flowers on the conference where we held our meeting. I finally threw them out after the first full day.

I could go on but I think you get the point. I want to be clear I did not call to change rooms or have these items corrected as I assumed they had enough on their plate. However, when you advertise as a high end resort and charge resort prices, even despite the pandemic you should be able to deliver more or make changes to accommodate based on what you can realistically deliver.

We wanted to get our two kids out of the house over the long weekend. Ocean Edge was perfect place. We had very little people contact while checking in and unpacking our car. The pools were not overcrowded as they limit the capacity and people in the pool areas were very respectful of space.

So we tried to call for room service and no one answered the phone. We found a person and they said no room service ( we recently stayed at mirror lake in and had room service), the person we spoke to said they do the least with what they have. That alone is BS. We never got a call answered from our room from the front desk. For what we are paying for, not worth it. We have stayed at places in the heart of Manhattan for less with more service, these people don’t care, trust me. Resort has good “bones” complex needs work on customer service. Just an FYI, beach/service is amazing, rest of the resort is not good.

We spent several days in the Villages. It was a great place to stay with our dog and young child. The golf course is impeccable, and dinner at the Mansion (outside) was pleasant.

The pool at the villages was well-kept and never crowded, in our experience, and the staff was courteous and helpful.

Hotel staff were incredibly responsive to our questions and concerns.

The Ocean Edge beach staff truly go above and beyond to ensure the comfort and safety of their guests.

This hotel is so great! Everything is very spaced out which is perfect for social distancing. You have something for everyone. Golf course, pickle ball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, two different outdoor pools, bike rentals, stand up paddle board rentals. We stayed in the non mansion rooms which were perfect with the kitchen, dishwasher, washer, dryer, stovetop, microwave, full size refrigerator with a freezer. It’s nice to have a lot of room in the fridge for cold drinks on the cape! The Cape Cod Rail Trail is also so easily accessed by the Villages rooms. A 20 minute easy bike ride in either direction takes you to different food stops and or beaches.
