Wonderful location, nice rooms, Charming decor throughout. Staff could be more attentive. Doorman wasn't around to assist with my bags upon arrival. Front desk was wondering so I had to wait. It's small and quaint which may be the reason for the short comings.

Greeted by a beautiful dog decked out in Christmas ribbons we figured this will be great. The public rooms in the inn are full of lovely art, artefacts and comfortable furniture. Fires in the fireplaces set the mood. We selected a wine and relaxed until the dining roomed opened. Highlight of the meal was the opening chestnut soup with pancetta....

This inn is living proof of how a nice photo gallery can have nothing to do with the quality of your experience. We planned a one night stay off season. Upon being escorted to our room in one of the outbuildings, we noticed a large presidential campaign poster mounted in the main front yard. After thinking through how to express...

My partner , Ron ,and I have just returned from another ten days of being pampered at The Charlotte Inn , which, in our opinion , is the prime location to stay whilst vacationing on Martha's Vineyard .Just one year ago , we spent an equal amount of time enjoying the highest level of hospitality . It just gets better...

The Charlotte Inn is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in in North America and Europe. Beautifully furnished and lovingly maintained by its owners, Gery and Paula, it is a place you will fondly remember. The staff goes out of its way to make you feel at home. While you are having dinner, your bed is turned...

Fabulous hotel with great understated service. This hotel has the feel of staying with an extremely wealthy antique loving friend who knows how to look after his house guests. You can easily forget that you are actually staying in a hotel. It also helps having Hermes bathroom products! Make sure you stay at this hotel and eat at the Terrace...

Currently on a tour of New England, staying at unique and highly rated hotels, experiencing the local culture and sites. The 5th night of the vacation has been made the best by my stay at The Charlotte Inn. This experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Booking the hotel was easy and informative. The travel advice provided by Carol was...

Lovely little hotel, feels like you're staying in your elegant aunt's home. The service was great - everyone was very helpful and professional. The restaurant is fabulous, and the location is very convenient for exploring Martha's Vineyard and Edgartown in particular. We had a car, and you really should have one. Would definitely stay again!

The perfect spot is situated away from the hub-bub of the heavily tourist traveled Edgartown center. This inn is truly beautiful and very well managed and maintained by the proprietor who has owned the inn for almost 50 years. The public and guest rooms are spotless and chock full of interesting period ephemera (paintings, crystal, silver, etc.) in the style...

We found that the Charlotte's inn was a nice and charming hotel. The diner was excellent but we were quite disappointed by the rigidity of the front desk staff. We have the feeling that, when compared to others Relais Châteaux visited, the service offered was inferior to Relais Châteaux's standards. We did asked for a compromise for the breakfast since...

A Few Facts to Ups and Downs 1) You asked for a 7:15 AM take out breakfast for your 7:15 AM cab. 2) The cost of breakfast was and never has been included. 3) It was politely suggested to walk approximately 70 feet - 35 seconds to get "take out" breakfast at Rosewater that opens at 6:00 AM.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Listed as one of the "Top 101 Hotels in the World" by Tatler's 2012 Travel Guide and a long-standing member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux small luxury hotel group, The Charlotte Inn is settled just a half block off Main Street and two blocks from the harbor-front in downtown Edgartown. Among 4 buildings are 17 guest rooms and 2 suites individually decorated with fine antiques in a wonderful English garden setting. The Charlotte Inn provides guests with what we consider the "ultimate luxury" - a glimpse back in time to a more peaceful and restful frame of mind. A visit to The Charlotte Inn - from an overnight or a week vacation - is an opportunity to escape from the hectic, rushed, technology and gadget driven daily routine and enjoy the simpler things life has to offer. With all that Martha's Vineyard has to enjoy as your daily playground - from beaching, boating, fishing, and sightseeing, to fine dining and shopping, to simply strolling along the historic whaling captain’s home lined streets along the harbor and down to the lighthouse, The Charlotte Inn offers our guests a relaxing home away from home to retreat to and an opportunity to cherish life's simpler times. Whether iced-tea on the porch with a good book, chatting with friends and fellow guests on a garden terrace, or enjoying a glass of wine by the fire with your companion in cooler weather, we hope that our guests embrace the opportunity to join us in the experience we work so hard to provide - a getaway from the stress and pressures of today’s fast-paced lifestyle and a chance to enjoy a peaceful reprieve in an atmosphere that is the perfect combination of elegance, luxury and comfort. Nothing satisfies us more than to provide our guests with this experience, and to watch them enjoy, unwind and cherish their time spent at The Charlotte Inn in the way that we prefer and as our adage suggests - "Behind The Times on Purpose". ... more   less
