The hotel is charming and unique. The staff are personable and very professional. It oozes character with its eclectic collection of art and antiques mostly from England. Our room was luxurious and elegant. It was cleaned immaculately every day with wonderful Frette sheets and towels. We breakfasted most mornings in the beautiful conservatory with a stunning garden. Breakfast was excellent...

Perfect in every detail as expected for a Realis & Chateau establishment from reception to checkout. Boutique hotel with two buildings with several guest sitting areas decorated with style. The stunning guest room we had was decorated with antiques, books artworks, fabulous bed and bathroom spacious light and airy. Tight squeeze to fit in two large suitcases as we were...

We were very fortunate to have one night stay in this beautiful hotel in Edgartown in mid September. The hosts and staff were utterly charming and we dined in the restaurant during the evening. The waiter who served us made everything possible including dining in one of the beautiful sitting rooms. What impressed me about the hotel was the very...

Edgartown is a typical New England town by its beautiful old buildings but very different by its location on Martha's Vineyards. Once we arrived at the wharf after a very nice 45 min ride on the ferry, we just walked and rolled our suitcase up to the hotel on Summer Ave, a short 7 min walk.we could have taken one...

Charlotte Inn is the epitome of luxury and class. This was truly a beautiful and serene setting. We had room #2 and our friends had room #1. We each had our own private courtyard and then there was a common courtyard between us for joint gatherings. The staff is incredible and met our every need. The owners are delightful as...

My husband and I have been guests at The Charlotte Inn for the past four nights and we have been enchanted with our stay. The Inn (a Relais and Chateaux property) and surrounding buildings are stunning, and you won't find more beautiful gardens anywhere. Our bedroom, with seating area, antique paintings and furniture, book collections and magazines, truly made us...

Beautiful, quiet, elegant, the Charlotte Inn is a oasis of tranquility in busy Edgartown. Filled with Art and Antiques each room is individually decorated setting an atmosphere of refined living. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The two most memorable staffers were Nicky & Barkley an pair of Golden Retrievers that have the run of the house...

We spend three nights in room 17 which was at the highest end of the non-suite accommodations. The room felt like a beautifully decorated guest room in somebody's home. The walls are covered with art and the rooms are filled with antiques and collectibles. The main house with public rooms and all the guest rooms are chock full of beautiful...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights; this place was stunning and meticulously maintained. The service was truly excellent and the place is simply impeccable. From the moment you pull up out in the front, you are greeted by very elegant young men that carry your belongings inside. The place is very intimate and quiet. The decor is...

If you want pure charm, great attention to details, tremendous gardens and ambience that sails, this is a great choice. The Inn is a Relais and Chateaux property and deserving of the franchise. The service is good, but you may have to ask for somethings rather than it being offered. The location is ideal, right in the middle of restaurants,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Listed as one of the "Top 101 Hotels in the World" by Tatler's 2012 Travel Guide and a long-standing member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux small luxury hotel group, The Charlotte Inn is settled just a half block off Main Street and two blocks from the harbor-front in downtown Edgartown. Among 4 buildings are 17 guest rooms and 2 suites individually decorated with fine antiques in a wonderful English garden setting. The Charlotte Inn provides guests with what we consider the "ultimate luxury" - a glimpse back in time to a more peaceful and restful frame of mind. A visit to The Charlotte Inn - from an overnight or a week vacation - is an opportunity to escape from the hectic, rushed, technology and gadget driven daily routine and enjoy the simpler things life has to offer. With all that Martha's Vineyard has to enjoy as your daily playground - from beaching, boating, fishing, and sightseeing, to fine dining and shopping, to simply strolling along the historic whaling captain’s home lined streets along the harbor and down to the lighthouse, The Charlotte Inn offers our guests a relaxing home away from home to retreat to and an opportunity to cherish life's simpler times. Whether iced-tea on the porch with a good book, chatting with friends and fellow guests on a garden terrace, or enjoying a glass of wine by the fire with your companion in cooler weather, we hope that our guests embrace the opportunity to join us in the experience we work so hard to provide - a getaway from the stress and pressures of today’s fast-paced lifestyle and a chance to enjoy a peaceful reprieve in an atmosphere that is the perfect combination of elegance, luxury and comfort. Nothing satisfies us more than to provide our guests with this experience, and to watch them enjoy, unwind and cherish their time spent at The Charlotte Inn in the way that we prefer and as our adage suggests - "Behind The Times on Purpose". ... more   less
