The Charlotte Inn is a welcoming compound in Edgartown comprising a main house and several surrounding properties. When my wife and I arrived we were greeted curbside, escorted to the front desk where we signed in and were given a brief tour of the first floor while our luggage was taken to our room. The Inn is located on a...

We were given a room valued at far less than what was prepaid, even though there were apparently many other larger and nicer available rooms. The room is pleasant but not worth over $700 per night. One would think for that price breakfast would be included or afternoon tea. Also, the internet did not work in our room. The grounds...

I am writing this review on a tight time schedule . We spent 2 days here in mid August , and all I can do is repeat what all the other 5 Star reviewers have said . The Decor/ service /ambience was excellent , and it felt like we were living in another Era . Loved the fact that no...

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at the Charlotte Inn and could not have been happier. We were in Room 5 located in the main house. All of the rooms are furnished with antiques and although they are small, they are very charming. The inn is "storybook perfect"....from the perfectly landscaped grounds to the attention to detail on...

We recently stayed 2 nights at this marvelous storybook Relaix and Chateau Inn.We took the ferry from North Kingstown,RI and arrived at Oak Bluffs. We did not rent a car but instead took a taxi.It was 20$ I think. The Inn is located on a charming quiet street in Edgartown, graced by tall chestnut trees. We were greeted by the resident four legged...

I expected this property to be a little stuffy (they have rules and do's and don't) however we found everyone so polite and friendly and caring that I soon forgot that notion. We arrived late one rainy evening and everyone seemed so glad to see us and accommodate us in anyway possible. We were staying in one of the cottages...

My husband and I enjoyed a week long stay at The Charlotte Inn last month. We both agree that it was absolutely FLAWLESS. The Inn (which is actually a compound) is meticulously maintained, beautifully furnished and incredibly comfortable. The staff cannot do enough for you. Everyone is helpful and kind. The proprietors are very sweet and personable. They not only...

We recently stayed at The Charlotte Inn for 5 nights. We found it to be a great place to stay. We loved our room. It had a seating area, a very comfortable bed and an extremely large bathroom. The owners and the staff are friendly and there to help. We were given multiple recommendations of places to go and each...

Our three night stay at the Charlotte Inn was idyllic. A quite beautiful building in a great location just of the main street that is stuffed full with interesting things, with friendly staff (especially the two bell boys!), two of the chillest golden retrievers I've ever met, and a quiet and wonderfully-appointed bedroom. The housemaids (in old-fashioned black-and-white uniforms -...

Those people who gave this place a poor or terrible review would probably be more comfortable in a motel six. This is a beautiful little inn in a great location. It is furnished with great antiques and furniture and is run by classy people. The Green Room which is a bar is incredible. It is expensive but worth the money.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Listed as one of the "Top 101 Hotels in the World" by Tatler's 2012 Travel Guide and a long-standing member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux small luxury hotel group, The Charlotte Inn is settled just a half block off Main Street and two blocks from the harbor-front in downtown Edgartown. Among 4 buildings are 17 guest rooms and 2 suites individually decorated with fine antiques in a wonderful English garden setting. The Charlotte Inn provides guests with what we consider the "ultimate luxury" - a glimpse back in time to a more peaceful and restful frame of mind. A visit to The Charlotte Inn - from an overnight or a week vacation - is an opportunity to escape from the hectic, rushed, technology and gadget driven daily routine and enjoy the simpler things life has to offer. With all that Martha's Vineyard has to enjoy as your daily playground - from beaching, boating, fishing, and sightseeing, to fine dining and shopping, to simply strolling along the historic whaling captain’s home lined streets along the harbor and down to the lighthouse, The Charlotte Inn offers our guests a relaxing home away from home to retreat to and an opportunity to cherish life's simpler times. Whether iced-tea on the porch with a good book, chatting with friends and fellow guests on a garden terrace, or enjoying a glass of wine by the fire with your companion in cooler weather, we hope that our guests embrace the opportunity to join us in the experience we work so hard to provide - a getaway from the stress and pressures of today’s fast-paced lifestyle and a chance to enjoy a peaceful reprieve in an atmosphere that is the perfect combination of elegance, luxury and comfort. Nothing satisfies us more than to provide our guests with this experience, and to watch them enjoy, unwind and cherish their time spent at The Charlotte Inn in the way that we prefer and as our adage suggests - "Behind The Times on Purpose". ... more   less
