Anchor In hotel stands out for its inviting atmosphere, with numerous guests highlighting the cleanliness and charm of its accommodations and communal spaces. The range of amenities, including a pool and fire pits, in conjunction with its proximity to ferries and local attractions, receives frequent praise.
While the hotel enjoys a convenient location ideal for exploring the harbor area, some guests feel the pricing does not offer good value, noting additional fees. However, the staff's welcoming and attentive service consistently enhances the guest experience.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I recently had a very nice day at the Anchor In for a couple of nights. It was our first time staying away from home since Covid and I’m happy to say that this place was spotlessly clean. All common areas were well taken care of and everyone was wearing masks. The bed was super comfortable and the room had a very nice view of the harbor and the ferries coming and going. A good size ultra clean bathroom and mini fridge were also present. We opted for breakfast one day at a nominal fee of 8.95 a person. Simple disposable items individually wrapped. There were a couple really good restaurants, the Black Cat and Spanky’s, within walking distance. The staff were very helpful especially with planning things to see around the Cape. We also enjoyed sitting around the fire pit perched just above the harbor at night. It was a delightful stay.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel and loved it! We had the Executive queen room on the 2nd floor that had the wraparound balcony looking out onto the harbor. The view was stunning and just as pictured. The room decor was very classic Cape Cod. Everything in the room was spotlessly clean. Even the remote controls were cleaned and packaged in plastic bags. Bathroom also was spotless. Both employees and guests had masks on in the general areas. They served continental buffet breakfast had muffins, cereal, milk, boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheese, Granola bars, yoghurt and various juices and hot beverages. The breakfast is not a free breakfast but it is not too expensive. There are many restaurants Around the area that you could walk to if you want a hot breakfast that are also open for lunch and dinner. We mostly ordered delivery and stayed in for meals. We enjoyed our stay and on the last night even got to enjoy the fireworks at the harbor. Would definitely recommend!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I read most of the reviews posted here and all the speak of friendliness and cleanliness are true! The staff is very helpful and friendly always looking to assist with any of your requests. The property is centrally located in walking distance to shops, restaurants and the ferries to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. The room that we stayed in was the Marston Mills Suite which is very spacious, nearly double in size in comparison to standard hotel rooms. The breakfast could use a bit of upgrading, just standard continental style and choices. At $8.95/adult $4.95/child some hot food items would be a nice addition. Again, VERY CLEAN! Linens are changed daily and the room sanitized. We also had a small fridge and microwave. The ferry to Nantucket is I walking distance about 10mins. It was a bit more expensive than I thought, about $245 for the two of us. If you are planning a stay in Hyannis I would highly recommend this hotel without hesitation.

I stayed at the Anchor In with my girlfriend during May 2021. The room we stayed in was outdated lacking style but comfortable and quiet. We stayed in a harbor side king room with a shared balcony facing the pool with a side view of the harbor which is a a boat slip and boat ramp area. The property/grounds, pool area and gas fire pit area were well maintained. We had the opportunity to engage with other guests at the fire pit whom were pleasant and friendly. The downside for us was the lack of a guest service experience. In fact, after check in we were on our our own to tour the property alone without much assistance or direction. The location is very convenient to Hyannis restaurants but the streets and roads surrounding the hotel are busy with traffic. The hotel is across the street from a hospital but surprisingly the noise level from emergency vehicles were not intrusive during our visit. If you have any physical impairments or disabilities, request a ground floor room due to the property not having elevators to the second floor. There is a breakfast option included for an additional low cost but it’s very similar to a complimentary breakfast at the popular hotel chain brands. Although this hotel might not be our taste, it does rank better than many of the other hotels within the Hyannis area.

Dear wawazzat Thank you for choosing Anchor In. Our guest rooms are decorated in a one of a kind yet Classic Cape Cod style which most guests find appealing. If all you see when you look out at the harbor from the Anchor In is a boat ramp and slip you need to have your eyes checked because you're missing a lot. At check in we give everyone a tour and point out the pool, fire pit, breakfast area etc. and we hand out a welcome letter. We're sorry that you missed that. Most people don't realize that the hospital is there. Hospitals are a quiet place and emergency vehicles arrive from the opposite direction and don't run their sirens close to the hospital. We couldn't ask for better neighbors. We are not a hotel chain. we are a third generation family owned and operated hotel and when looking for a waterfront hotel on Cape Cod for location, quality and service at out price point we are second to none. Sincerely Lisa and Skip Simpson

Not a single complaint. Everything is top notch at this privately owned and operated Hotel! The room, lobby and common areas were all tastefully decorated and updated - like being in someone's home, not a hotel - and everything was spotless. The bed was very, very comfortable as was the club chair with ottoman in our room. The deck overlooking the harbor was large with a wonderful view and the view from inside our room was wonderful as well with the large three panel slider that made almost the entire wall all windows. Location was great...we walked to dinner twice and even to the ferry when we took it to spend the day on Martha's Vineyard. Lisa & Skip have gone above and beyond to meet all your needs and do a fantastic job of making sure you know they are readily available to help in any way they can.

I had been looking forward to my stay here because the pictures online make this place look so cute. It met my expectations and more.
When I arrived, Chris greeted me, checked me in (gave me a room upgrade!), and gave me a quick tour re: the library (for breakfast) and the tea/coffee kitchen. He also showed where the nightly bonfire would be if I wanted to sit and enjoy it later. He was so kind and patient and did not mind me asking silly questions.
Access to all entries of the facility (except the front entrance) requires your room key (not keycard, but actual key. Don't lose it!) so, I appreciated the security.
The room was clean and I love all the light options: multiple lamps with multiple lighting settings and 2 sets of recessed lights with dimming options. Tv has cable channels and there is a DVD player available! I highly suggest splurging on a room with the harbor view. The patio is so comfortable to hangout in and enjoy the view.
Buffet breakfast was a whole spread: mini quiches, bacon, a yogurt bar, fresh fruit, muffins, toast, hard boiled eggs, and other small items like breakfast bars, if that's what you please. It's an additional $13 that you'll pay for at check out.
No elevators so be prepared to carry your luggage up a couple short flights of steps if you're on the 2nd floor.
They were compliant with COVID-19 rules like enforcing all guests wear masks in community areas/hallways. Plexi glass was placed at the front desk to assist with social distancing. Hand sanitizer stations were everywhere. There were also hand sanitizers stocked in my bathroom with the lotion, shampoo, and soap.
Location is fantastic with Hyannis Harbor right in the inn's backyard. A perfect place to stay if you plan on doing a day trip to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. The ferry does make loud horn sounds every once in a while (maybe on departure?) but I didn't find it bothersome. Main St. (where the shops and restaurants are) is about 10 min walking distance. I would recommend driving there at night though for safety purposes. Some streets have poor lighting, have poorly paved sidewalks, and some questionable people walking around.

Just back from 6 days at Anchor In June 2021. We were in room 209 which was Harborside. Upon booking we found they give 20% discount to retired military which was amazing, all they needed were our IDs on check in. Check in was smooth, and this did a walk around with us as well which was very nice. Room was nice, we had a King Harborside, we booked a second floor room but it was not available so we got 1st floor. Room is next to pool, so everyone walking back and forth passed our room. Ideally we'd like 2nd, but they told us in advance and they were booked full. Room is quaint, older style room but extremely clean. The gave us the option to not have the room cleaned daily and they would leave a daily basket with fresh towels and bathroom products outside the room. We liked this as it kept housekeeping out and made us more comfortable. Our AC was mediocre, we let the front desk know that it needed attention as well as the sliding glass door being very difficult to slide open and closed. No coffee maker in room but there is one in the common area for coffee, tea, etc. and no microwave in room but they had one in the kitchen to use if you asked the front desk. Small fridge and a self serve ice machine made it really nice. Grounds, pool area, fire pit areas all immaculate and beautiful. Staff was extremely nice and very helpful. Views of the harbor were incredible however this room they could only be seen when sitting outside. Plenty of parking and easy to navigate to. Walking distance to Main Street, restaurants and shopping. Would stay again, but definitely in a 2nd floor facing the harbor.

My daughter & I are a couple of “California Girls” who decided to take advantage of her recent move to the east coast & go on a little mid-May road trip. The Anchor In was by far the best hotel we stayed at with a comparable price to our other lodging choices. It was super clean with a fabulous view of Hyannis Harbor!
Everyone who worked at the The Anchor In was very friendly & helpful. Sandy checked us in, answered all my goofy questions & helped us to decide which island to visit. We rode The Steamship Authority ferry to Nantucket for the day & the terminal was a short 5 minute walk from the hotel. Also, the hotel was a short 10-15 minute walk to the shops & restaurants on Main Street. I would recommend booking early if you plan to visit during peak season. You won’t be disappointed with your stay at The Anchor In!

My family just returned from a long weekend over the 4th and had a wonderful time here. When I booked, a man helped me find the best room (#220) for us, and when we arrived we received a warm, welcoming tour of the property and common areas. The decor inside the lobby areas is beautiful and very upscale coastal. The room was absolutely spotless and very large, offering an amazing view of the harbor. We had an expansive deck on which to relax and take in the incredible scenery. They had a nice breakfast to offer us, but we opted to bring our own breakfast and lunch, and then we got some good takeout for dinner and brought it back to eat at the pool area. I felt very safe there with the covid situation. Virtually all guests were wearing masks (and practiced social distancing) around the pool area, and masks are required in the hotel itself. I am so happy we got to get away and enjoy the beautiful Hyannis area and this exceptional hotel. The only place to stay in Hyannis. We will be back--next time without the kids!!!

The Anchor Inn is in a great location. It’s within easy walking distance of the harbor as well as main street. It’s a very charming hotel but in all honesty it’s not a 5 in the traditional sense as a lot of the reviews would indicate especially for the rates being charged. Breakfast is available for an additional charge…seems a bit ridiculous when you are paying $300+/night for a hotel that would normally cost less than half that amount if it weren’t on the Cape.
The hotel is very well maintained but it’s an older hotel and some things need improved upon. The A/C in our room was noisy and would have never been able to cool the room if it was hotter outside. There isn’t adequate ventilation in the bathroom to remove shower steam. The bathroom shower/tub combo is in very good condition but definitely dated.
Housekeeping does a great job and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The beds were also very comfortable. They are plenty of towels in the room, the wifi worked well and the staff are super nice and helpful. There are always cookies, lemonade and coffee available in the evenings. The pool is very nice but the fire pit was the best. We sat around the fire pit every night chatting with other guests. It was so much fun to make “fire pit friends” and share each other’s daily travel adventures.
I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in the past 2 yrs in the US and abroad even with CV. For me, the Anchor Inn is a 3.5. The service, some nice touches and the location are what make the Anchor Inn standout; otherwise it’s would be an overpriced older hotel.

We did not eat breakfast there each morning we were there. But if we did the people working breakfast will ask for your room number and they will add it to your room bill. That's how it worked for us.
Yes! There’s also a vending machine to buy water/soda and such right near the check in desk.
