We just spent this past weekend with some friends who live in Boston at Lenox's Whistler's Inn, and we were delighted with a) the hospitable and warm welcome of the owners; b) the comfort of the bed; c) the breakfasts were fabulous and filling; d) it's super well located, with access to the main roads, nearby parks, and real close...

Built in 1820, this English Tudor mansion is the home/inn of the Mears family, boasting an adventure author, pastellist and ceramicist. Room 5 was huge and located on the second floor overlooking the back lawn. Daily sherry was available in the main floor drawing room furnished in original art and antiques. Breakfast is not to be missed-all freshly cooked and...

My family and myself had a very relaxing time visiting this historic Inn. So much comfort while staying there. Enjoyed all homemade meals, meeting many guests from all over the world. The rooms were beautifully decorated with many upgrade facilities. Enjoyed our walks to the unique shops, listing to the Boston Pops and other musical programs in the near by...

Great old fashioned Inn and friendly atmosphere, location also nice as within a walking distance from the town and restaurants. The hosts were extremely friendly and made us feel like home. Warmly recommend the nearby Kennedy park for a short hikes, also within walking distance from the Inn.

The place is old and full of Victorian (?) ravishments. My hostess was really charming, attentive and an enchanting conversationalist. The grounds were magnificent in early September. I stayed there for a few days while getting my son settled in school nearby while working on a book.

We spent the last three days of our 3,5 weeks New England-vacation in Whistler's Inn and were happy that we did. The house and our room (Norfolk Rose,3) are spacious and filled with antique furniture. We only missed a writing table or small desk. The atmosphere created by the Mears is very warm and full of attention. Breakfast is very...

This B&B is a lovely older home that has the potential to become a beautiful B&B with a lot of TLC. Our room was very spacious, but I did not care for all the hand written instructions on index cards...very unprofessional. The towels in the bathroom were something you would find in a lesser hotel.....very small, thin and industrial white....

Thank you for the sincere review of your experience at Whistler's Inn. We agree about the note written out on the index card being unprofessional. We usually type out our menu each day and post it in a hard plastic sheet, but we were unable to use the printer during your stay at Whistler's Inn because of a mechanical issue...

A good sized B&B in an big old house, there is plenty of old style charm to this building. The rooms are good sized with en suite baths. WiFi has limited range so you may not get it in your room. Breakfast is pretty good. Overall, a very nice place. Just hanging around in the first floor commons rooms is...

The Mears are delightful hosts, the breakfasts delicious and the proximity for walking to downtown Lenox is perfect. Tanglewood is about 2 miles away and one must drive to get there. The road would be too dark and usafe to try to walk there. We stayed in the Spanish Room. It was small, but adequate for the time we spent...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Featured on The Travel Channel and Great Escapes, this 1820 English Tudor mansion in the heart of the Berkshires was once the home of the railroad tycoon Ross Wynans Whistler, nephew of the painter James M. Whistler. Close to Tanglewood and all major Berkshire cultural venues, Whistler's Inn captures the warmth and elegance of a bygone era. On six acres of gardens and woodlands and two blocks from the center of Lenox, this quiet antique and art-filled retreat has an extensive library and French music room with a Steinway grand piano. A buffet breakfast is served with recipes inspired by the cook's world travels (Spain, France, Israel, South America, Japan and Morocco). ... more   less
