Hyatt Place Boston/Medford has garnered appreciation for its complimentary breakfast and parking, and guests highlight its location as convenient for visiting Boston and nearby campuses. However, opinions diverge on the hotel's value, with many guests feeling that the rates are steep relative to the services provided, which include dated amenities and occasional issues with room maintenance. The atmosphere is generally described as quiet, but some visitors have encountered noise disturbances. Additionally, several guests have called out shortcomings in service, cleanliness, and the management of noise, particularly from nearby traffic.

The building is slightly older so bathroom shower could use some updating. But that was really my ONLY issue, not even a complaint. The workstation in the room was super handy. The (paid) starbucks coffee option at the front desk was amazing and saved me so much time each morning. (I don't think I've ever been to starbucks without a line!). The support staff was kind and helpful and consistently going above and beyond. To-Go complimentary breakfasts were a very safe covid option - yogurt, fruit cup, water, apple, muffin and a bottle of water in a bag - much safer and cleaner than a "sneeze bar" of other people's cooties. And to end the trip it was a super quick drive to the airport. Overall, I will for sure stay again.

I wanted a room that was convenient to Tufts, the hotel is 1 mile away which is great.

This hotel is not located super close to any decent restaurants (none walking distance). The hotel itself is fine but definitely dated- my room was clean but showing wear and tear in many areas. If more than 2 stayed in the room it would be cramped. Staff was pleasant enough. Included breakfast was actually pretty good and covered all the bases (bagels, cereal, yogurt, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice).

This hotel was one of the cheapest in the area bc it was graduation week for many local universities- I paid $550 (including $100 tax/ fees!) . The room was worth $200 max, it’s not located in the heart of Boston or Cambridge.

Decent place to stay at the right rate.

The hotel is dated. Service has been pruned considerably ostensibly due to the pandemic (e.g., room cleaning only occurs on the third day of stay). A bar of soap is no longer automatically offered for the sink it seems. (I had to ask twice before I got one -- two times too many if you ask me.) If you can get off-season pricing, it's an acceptable hotel. However, if you get stuck with exorbitant peak pricing (e.g., summer), I'd say pay a little more and find a better located hotel. Also, I'm not sure the hotel could be blamed for this, but my neighbors were particularly noisy this trip. Teenagers / Young adults shouting in the hallway and blasting music from their room. And (separately) dogs barking. I guess anything goes at Hyatt Place Boston/Medford.

Thank you for completing the Survey regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We apologize that your experience was anything less than satisfying. Feedback such as yours assists us in improving our service and property. In addition, please know that your comments and issues will be addressed. We would like to clarify that most hotels are currently providing housekeeping services every other day of the stay. I was not pleased with this hotel. First thing I noticed was there was chocolate or some type of food stuck on the back of the remote, stains on door of the fridge, bathroom was very dirty and looked like it hadn't been swept in weeks, shower walls had dirt or various dark colored spots stuck on them, and there were holes in the blanket on the bed. I was glad I brought my own Lysol spray/wipes and cleaning products because I cleaned the room to make me feel safe. The next morning when I was getting ready to go to work, several of the outlets did not work. I tried at least 3 of them and one of them even made a sparking noise. I was glad this didn't happen the night before because I probably would have left that night because this made me feel very unsafe. I was very surprised to find the hotel in this condition especially during this time of COVID. If I wasn't already vaccinated, I'm not sure if I would have stayed the night. I'm not looking for money back or anything so I didn't take pictures, but I think people should know this because I was very surprised by this.

This hotel is not taking COVID cleaning seriously and has terrible customer service which is sad because I have had a few decent stays over the past 2 years. We checked in around 11:30pm and were given a room that reeked of smoke and clearly wasn't cleaned well. You know it's bad when you can still smell it through a N100 respirator. We were given another room that smelled even worse which is just not acceptable for me and my pregnant wife. At this point we left the hotel because they had no more rooms and had to pay an additional $50 to book a different hotel.

Despite being promised a response from the GM by the front desk agent, I still haven't heard anything.

I'm going to avoid this hotel and stay at one of the regencys, and I advise everyone else to do the same. If they treat top tier Hyatt members this way I don't even want to think about how they treat general guests.

The design of the room was poor, the sink was not in the bathroom and toilet was to close to the bathroom door.

Maid service was non-existent even after we requested that they clean the room and provide clean towels.

We could not find a bottle of water to purchase and had to walk to the CVS for water and toothpaste.

We paid top dollar upgraded our room and still received bad service and accommodations.

As a longtime vistor to this hotel, I am sorry to write I don't plan to go back. We stayed over night on 3/20. The room was mostly clean when we arrived in the evening (some schmutz on the rug and hairs in corner of bathroom floor). When I woke up in the morning I was itchy and by lunchtime covered in some type of bites. After waiting all week for a call from the hotel manager, as promised by the desk clerk, we called him. He claimed housekeeping had been told to call and inform us that they found no problem with the room - needless to say, a totally inadequate response. For the record, they did credit us the cost of the room, but anyone staying there should be aware of potential problems.

We were a big family of 9 with a lot of children of all ages and we always had to request for towels, blankets, and pillows. Because they were always short staffed, we constantly had to remind them hourly to get them. The room cleanliness was fine at best but we did not have a working desk lamp and we were missing the tv remote. We were also not informed during check in that the cleaning service had to be reserved a day in advance. So when I told front desk, we had to take out the trash in the bathroom and living area ourselves. I was utterly appalled because never in my life, I had this kind of service at a hotel.

the hotel is open to any travelers again, but it didn't seem that busy, no breakfast still and taking precautions at the front desk. I don't think the pool was open yet, but service was exceptional and I requested a room on a high floor which had a nice view of Boston at night, housekeeping was slow for some reason and the wastebasket trash was outside the room on the table against the wall, I requested when it would be removed and the next day it was done. the rooms are nice, and well decorated, i just had a shower this time, but it is very modern and like that the hotel room is big with different areas for coffee, desk, sofa and outside sink with drawers for clothes and makeup area, also for tourists the bus stop is at the hotel and across the street, I like that the underground garage is good, so you don't have to look for a parking space, enjoyed staying there again, and will be back in the future.

I booked a room using a free reward night that was going to expire in a few days and I didn't want it to go to waste. I figured a February weekend would be a good escape for my young kids to go and use the pool at the hotel. I live about 10 minutes from the hotel, so I only booked the room so that my kids could use the pool and we were not planning on staying the night at the hotel, just using the pool and changing/showering in the room, but not sleeping over. The hotel never informed me until check in that the pool was closed for renovation (normally this is disclosed either on the website or an email before check-in), so the entire purpose of my "stay" was completely wasted and left my kids devastated when we showed up and then were told that they couldn't swim. When I brought this up to the front desk the first gentleman couldn't do anything to help (he seemed like he was on another planet to begin with). Another lady tried to step in and see if there were any other Hyatts nearby with a pool, but there was nothing around, so there was nothing else that they could do to help the situation as I booked using a free night.

As a Globalist, I expect more out of Hyatt and this hotel failed completely. I hate throwing status out there, but Hyatt Globalist is the hardest top-tier hotel status to earn, and I go out of my way to stay with Hyatt hotels. However, at this hotel I was never recognized as a Globalist during any interactions with the front desk and was never offered any benefits (usually at least offered a bottle of water). As I didn't stay at the hotel I can't comment about the room, but based on the the lobby and 1st floor areas that I did see, they were very dated and in need of an update. The carpeting was ripped/frayed, the water fountains were out of service, marks/dents on the walls, etc. Just a complete disaster of an experience. I would rank this as the worst Hyatt that I have ever stepped foot inside and would strongly avoid staying here at all costs.

Hello Samuel, First, we appreciate your loyalty to the World Of Hyatt, and as a Globalist, it is our priority to provide an exceptional service to you! We are so sorry to hear about your experience, especially that you and your kids couldn't use the pool at that time. Just to clarify, that our pool is actually open every day, but unfortunately it was closed for 48hrs due to damages done by other guests. As you know, we have to get a full approval from the engineering department to make sure that water is clear, disinfected and safe to be used by our guests. Additionally, please know that you comments regarding the interaction with the staff were addressed and under investigation. It is our hope that you give us another opportunity to serve. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and we hope to see you again in the near future. Hyatt Place Medford team
