While the booking process may take longer than your average click + pick site, it's 100% worth it. Louise goes to every length to make you comfortable and happy. My Mum paid for my husband and I to stay at Shirakaba for our 8-year wedding anniversary and it was truly one of the best trips we've ever taken. Shirakaba is...

We LOVE to help our guests celebrate! As we only have the 2 suites, it is easier to give you as much attention as you would like during a stay here. My goal it to have anything you might need to enjoy your stay ready and waiting for you. We loved meeting you both and learning of your plans to...

My fiance's father gave us a weekend stay here as a gift, and it was a wonderful, relaxing stay. The suite was so comfortable and tatami mat room was very authentic. Louise and Sadao were so welcoming and there wasn't anything that could have made our weekend better. The food was amazing, and the hot tub was so relaxing and...

From the moment I walked through the door, I immediately felt at home. Louise and Sadao really go out of their way to make you feel taken care of and your stay personalized. Even before our arrival we were asked about the kind of breakfast we would like and choice of fresh baked cookies on arrival! I went to the...

The room offers a choice of in-room breakfast in Japanese or Western seating with views and delicious breakfast choices. The pool, sauna and hot tub are all nice features, especially in the depths of winter. There is a nice snowy walk to a commanding gazebo overlooking valleys. There are no words to describe how enjoyable our time there was

We had a lovely stay and every detail was taken into consideration. You really are a guest in their home! Very relaxing. The dinner was special, although I thought the price per person was too high personally. However, the experience is worth it to try something out of the ordinary. We LOVED the bed! So comfortable!

Louise and Sadam made us feel like honored guests and rheir attentiveness and amazing customer service was perfectly reminiscent of the warm and customized hospitality we know from visits to Japanese ryokans. Frim the homemade cookies to the stellar sukiyaki dinner to the adorable details, Shirakaba is a must-return destination of ours. We cannot more highly recommend this special gem...

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Shirakaba. We really love to pamper our guests. Having only 2 guest suites we can do just that. I'm happy you enjoyed Sadao's sukiyaki dinner, it is a guest favorite and now we can offer free range eggs laid the day of your dinner.

We stayed here with our sons (15 and 17) and had a really great experience. Comfortable beds and accommodations. Fantastic breakfast and an unusually high level of service and thoughtfulness. Lots to do in the area. We will definitely be back.

They were so kind and thought of everything. A little slice of Japanese heaven. If you are willing to take a risk then order the Japanese breakfast. The other strong recommendation is the medley of homemade ice cream. Our personal favorite was the ginger.

It was fun helping your family unwind a bit together at Shirakaba. Ginger is one of our most popular ice cream flavors with guests, I am glad you enjoyed it.

Louise and Sadao are wonderful hosts. The guesthouse is so relaxing and luxurious that it whisks you away to a place of peace and serenity. It is a bit off the beaten path, but you are not more than 40 minutes away from all of the best of the Berkshire's attractions; most are less than 30. Sadao's take on Japanese...
