Louise and Sadam made us feel like honored guests and rheir attentiveness and amazing customer service was perfectly reminiscent of the warm and customized hospitality we know from visits to Japanese ryokans. Frim the homemade cookies to the stellar sukiyaki dinner to the adorable details, Shirakaba is a must-return destination of ours. We cannot more highly recommend this special gem... More

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Shirakaba. We really love to pamper our guests. Having only 2 guest suites we can do just that. I'm happy you enjoyed Sadao's sukiyaki dinner, it is a guest favorite and now we can offer free range eggs laid the day of your dinner. More

We stayed here with our sons (15 and 17) and had a really great experience. Comfortable beds and accommodations. Fantastic breakfast and an unusually high level of service and thoughtfulness. Lots to do in the area. We will definitely be back.

They were so kind and thought of everything. A little slice of Japanese heaven. If you are willing to take a risk then order the Japanese breakfast. The other strong recommendation is the medley of homemade ice cream. Our personal favorite was the ginger.

It was fun helping your family unwind a bit together at Shirakaba. Ginger is one of our most popular ice cream flavors with guests, I am glad you enjoyed it. More

Very comfortable room, Louise is fantastic, taking care of anything you may need. Delicious home made cookies and ice cream, and wonderful breakfast every morning. The surrounding are beautiful and relaxing, and there are several nice dinner locations

Louise and Sadao are wonderful hosts. The guesthouse is so relaxing and luxurious that it whisks you away to a place of peace and serenity. It is a bit off the beaten path, but you are not more than 40 minutes away from all of the best of the Berkshire's attractions; most are less than 30. Sadao's take on Japanese... More

My new husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We have always had an interest in Japanese culture and figured this would be a perfect spot to get a taste. The location is stunning, with trees and mountains certain to please anyone looking for natural peace and calm. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Louise who gave us... More

Can't say enough about the Inn and Louise and Sadao our hosts . We had the most memorable 3 days; the attention given, comfort of the unique rooms, pool, hot tub, and fabulous food and birthday extras. The special birthday cake with my husbands name and age printed in Japanese was the ultimate!

As other reviewers have stated, this really is a wonderful little place to stay. A refreshing change from the nearly ubiquitous Early American B&Bs that dot the landscape in New England, the Shirakaba Guest House is a wonderful relaxing place to spend an evening or two. My wife, daughter and I spent two nights in the Take No Ma suite... More

A few weeks ago, and for the second time in less than a year, my wife and I spent a few days enjoying the tranquility and warm hospitality of the Berkshires Shirakaba Guest House and its wonderful owners/hosts, Louise and Sadao-san. We loved our stay at Shirakaba. We visited for our anniversary and have never felt so pampered. Louise and Sadao catered to our every need. Here are just a few of many examples. Even before we arrived, we were asked a number questions so that our visit would be perfect. Thus, properly fitted slippers and kimonos, and a plate of... More
