We arrived on Good Friday afternoon to a warm welcome by the staff. We were escorted to our room on the first floor with a king bed and fireplace in the room which is adequate in size with a fully renovated bathroom. We strolled across the small courtyard and had a lovely dinner supported by an excellent wait staff and a great bartender Colin. The following morning we had a very nice continental buffet of homemade breads, pastries, fruit, granola, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and a variety of teas and coffee. This is a Dog friendly, multi- acreage converted farm great for walks and a overall relaxing place with good food and supportive staff in a quiet setting. No Tv in the rooms, adequate Wifi .

A weekend in the country...how delightful! The perfect escape from New York City at this charming country inn and restaurant. Host and proprietor, Michael Smith, treats his guests like family. He and his team make everyone feel welcome. It’s about as close to a sojourn in the French countryside as we are likely to experience during a pandemic. The grounds of this old gentleman’s farm/estate are simply stunning; walking the property is a real treat. The sixteen rooms are comfortable and have a simple Shaker meets Normandy feel. Bathrooms are well appointed (I’m a sucker for ‘green tea’ amenities) with either large open stall showers or whirlpool tubs. Kudos to Michael and his gracious, hospitable team.

I have stayed at Gedney Farms once before and will be coming back a third time this summer. It's a truly wonderful place, with excellent service and a very delicious simple breakfast. The rooms are perfect for a Berkshires retreat and the real, wood burning fireplaces are a perfect touch. I have stayed twice in the off-season and really loved the experience. The location near Great Barrington, the Prarie Whale, Cantina 229 and the Mount is perfect!

Very comfortable despite the rustic look and charm - I always love staying here and am looking forward to coming back in the summer.

We show up for a wedding. It's a nice enough spot, but nothing special. I notice a deep (6-8") rift in the area of the reception, something that could easily cause significant injury (ie, twisted/ broken ankle) especially as it got darker. I mention this to the person in charge, and she says "We know. We've had a lot of rain and some erosion. It will be fixed Mon " Now it's a Saturday wedding, so I point out the obvious: that approach will not safeguard the wedding party that evening. In response they bring out some lane markers to warn people. Ok, but it's not my job to inform the Inn of obvious safety issues, especially when they indicate they know there is a problem. Just sloppy and unprofessional.

The food was abysmal. Fish tasteless and served with an overpowering sauce (to make up for poorly cooked fish?If so, an interesting culinary approach.) Beef ribs were dried out and, yes, tasteless.

On the other hand, the chef who cooked the steak outside in the grill, served as appetizer, was great. It was perfect grilling technique, and delicious. But the inside kitchen was a disaster.

A friend and i visited here for a friends birthday party. The room was in a finished bar that reminded me of a ski resort with finished wood. It was raining a lot and an employee even provided us with an umbrella. the breakfast next morning was fresh, simple and very good. Looking forward to visiting again.

Went to dinner outside on May night. Magical, dreamlike. Much like CA or OR wine scene. Look out at fields while eating. Peter the wine guy was great, choosing a white and red that fit exactly. He asked each member of the two couples what they were eating and that was silently factored into his choices. It was so nice. It was the nicest dinner I have ever had.

This was the first time we stayed at Gedney Farm while in the area. Fast, friendly check-in, room was easy to find in the adjacent building. Nice, simple and clean room, good bed. We had a good night sleep. Adequate bathroom, which was noisy at times i.e. we heard adult/children's voices (adjacent room?, room below?).
Excellent breakfast, table served.

We had dinner at Gedney Kitchen tonight for the first time since they reopened the restaurant. It was by far the best meal we’ve had in the Berkshires this season. Wonderful food and excellent service in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend it.

Gedney Farm is a stunning inn, with stylish guest rooms in a former dairy barn and 37 relaxing acres to roam around. We booked the cheapest room, but even that room was spacious and extremely comfortable, with gorgeous sunrise views from our corner windows, a modern marble bathroom, and a charming four-poster bed. We loved all the furniture and the lofty ceilings throughout the rest of the farmhouse. I would love to return in the summer, when we can sit out on the reclining chairs scattered throughout the property and read a book surrounded by forest.

The reason I didn't give Gedney Farm 5-stars is for a few minor notes:
1) Weak wifi. Our room was closest to the lobby so our signal was decent (better on the bed, nonexistent down the hall or in the bathroom), but I believe any other room will struggle to connect. Don't plan on streaming videos. And there is no cell service, so wifi is the only way you can connect if there's an emergency.
2) Breakfast was unimpressive. We've stayed at many B&Bs and farmhouses, both in the US and abroad, and this was a bit disappointing, especially for the price of the room.
3) There was a small wedding during our stay, and the staff seemed to be stressed out because any interaction we had with them was very brief. They were all nice and efficient, but not welcoming. When we choose to stay at small inns instead of large hotel chains, we do like to get to know the locals -- even while wearing a mask.

In conclusion, we did enjoy our stay very much, and I would encourage any one who doesn't mind a weak wifi and a standard continental breakfast to stay here for a lovely farmhouse stay in the Berkshires.
