This is second time I have been at a meeting at this hotel, the other pre- Covid. That experience was better. At this time I found the rooms nice and the meeting staff and banquet staff quite good and responsive, and food surprisingly good. The biggest issue was the front desk staff. I check in very early after overnight flight to Amsterdam and had to get clerk to look up from his phone as I stood at desk. He could not even work the computer to check me in and needed to call a colleague to do that. I asked for assistance during the meeting at front desk and initially was put off that they were “ too busy” so I did half their job and they finally did the rest. At check out offered both printed and emailed receipt. I asked for both, only got one, was told day staff( very early departure) would need to handle the email, staff on duty could not do that. Had a credit from an earlier stay and because of how reservation had been made for me by meeting organizer instead of me the credit not honored and now lost. There were aspects of cleanliness that could have been handled better in public areas. It is not anywhere near the heart of the city although they run a shuttle into town.

We took the teenage kids to Amsterdam for New Years. This hotel was so comfortable and the kids said it was very fancy! A little ways outta town though so we spent quite a bit on Uber’s in and out. The hotel has a shuttle to the free ferry, but we found the available time slots inconvenient, so book early! The staff were super friendly and happy to help and the restaurant was delicious!

The van der Valk hotels generally set a high benchmark for the industry and the Valk Oostzaan is no exception.

The hotel has excellent layout, good parking, spacious and comfortable rooms with great attention to design detail, a good restaurant and exceptional staff.

For a conference in North Amsterdam, I booked 30 rooms for my guests from all over the world. I will summarize here the impressions of all of us after having spent several nights at this hotel.

Everyone without exception said that the location is awful . In the middle of nowhere. There is no public transportation except taxis that the hotel book for us. Probably another source of profit for the hotel.

Another issue we most agreed on, was the staff. We have never met an inefficient, arrogant and rude like this hotel staff. One of the worst we have ever met.

About the rooms: There were disagreements. So, in this case, I can only express my own impression.
The linens and towels smelled bad, it didn't smell like after washing. I stayed at this hotel for five nights and according to the signs they never vacuumed the carpet in the room, they forgot to put water, toilet paper, tissue, etc.

Also all my guests agreed that the restaurant and bar were of low standards. Slow and inefficient staff. The food was reasonable to inferior. Overpriced.

I will repeat on what a large portion of my dozens of guests told me when they left. "At the next conference, please just not this hotel". I think that means it all.

If you are looking for a truly 4 star experience than please save yourself £180+ per night and find another hotel. Probably a 1 star hotel would be just as good or should I say bad as Van Der Valk and I am not exaggerating...On first impression the hotel looks modern with relatively cheap interior and over priced food menu. Nevertheless we did get to our hotel an hour earlier before the official checking in time and were told our room was ready. So far so good.... Off we go to the sixth floor where our room was two doors away from the pool which at first glance looked acceptable. So we enter our room and it all looks good, the view isn't the best (factories and cows in the background with a lovely smell to match the scenery) but it was a good size room which looked reasonably tidy. In the bathroom the lovely cleaners were ever so thoughtful to leave a dirty tissue and two dirty glasses full of water on the side of the sink. They also left a lovely long pubic hair in the shower wall. Ben and I were in such high holiday spirits we thought we would overlook this and carry on exploring the hotel. Off we go to the chlorine, germ and dirt infested pool. Again views were to die for... Literally die. Factory fumes, building sights and the moterway was the way we wanted to relax and inhale co2. Taking all of that in we decided to sit on the sun loungers that were far from clean. Considering there were only 4, each one had foot prints, dirt marks, splashes and suspicous brown stains all over them. After deciding this was not the scene for us we decided to go back into our room and have a shower. Later we thought a nap after a long journey was well deserved... Little did we know that our bed was infested with pubic and human hair. At this point we had enough and decided to call reception. The man that dealt with our issue was extremely polite and apologetic, he came to our room quickly and we showed him the state of our room and the swimming pool. He agreed that this was simply unacceptable for a 4 star hotel. We moved rooms. The man assured us that he has personally checked the room and made sure it was up to what they consider "high standards". I had a quick glance whilst he was there and managed to find a pubic hair on one the pillows. He was just as shocked as we were. Another room, the same story ... He offered Ben and I one complimentary drink at the bar downstairs. We told the guy we don't drink but a free breakfast for the both of us would be a better compensation for the time, hassle and disappointing experience in the past couple of hours of being here. Oh by the way our new fridge wasn't working so I couldn't keep my medicine cold... Great for a type 1 diabetic like myself. A ice bucket that barely fit in was the next option. We didn't get our free breakfast nor did anyone check that we were settling in okay. In the end at checkout a young and inexperienced girl ask us if everything was okay. I told her the truth and told her nobody sorted out our breakfast. Bare in mind it is now 12pm and Ben and I are ready to leave. She wanted to get the manger but I told her not to bother as we were desperate to leave. She rudely told me there is nothing she can do and started speaking to her colleague in another language whilst I was in front of her speaking. So we left and got on with the rest of our day. Do not stay here !!! Unless you want to through money down the drain, which is right next to the hotel... Trust me.

My company has a facility in Amsterdam which I visit on a regular basis. The Van der Valk hotel in Oostzaan is my favorite place to stay. Much cheaper as similar hotels in Amsterdam and very well located . It has an excellent restaurant and bar, free parking and a large lounge with cosy chairs and large tables to work on . The rooms are modern, large and with a well equipped bathroom . For those of you who liked gambling there is a casino in the basement .

It is a wonderful hotel only a few kilometers from Amsterdam. At the weekend it has a cheap shuttle service to Amsterdam. From Monday till Friday it is very easy to take the bus. The quality of the restaurant in the hotel is really good and the staff is friendly. The rooms are wonderful.

Last weekend we have been in Hotel Oostzaan for 3 days and it was a very satisfying expirience.
The hotel is quite new and well designed. The staff at te reception desk is very proffesional and service minded.
The rooms are realy spacious! And so is the bathroom. Very good! Housekeeping is doing a great job: Everything is clean as it should be.
Breqakfast is as you can expect at the Valk concern: Absolute top.
Of course most people will use this location to visit Amsterdam and or Zaandam. But when the weather is good take your bike (Or rent a good one at the reception desk) and go out in 'Twiske' which is a very nice piece of nature just around the corner. When biking take i.e. the main trail to the left and follow the signs for Purmerend which turns out to be a really nice city (Even for shopping). From there you could bike to Ilpendam, also very charactistic and beautiful. From here take the little ferry to the other side of the canal and drive back to the hotel.

This is the 24th time I stay in this hotel. Each time, Airplay doesn’t work and the reception doesn’t seem to care. Last stay, it was 30 degrees in Amsterdam (something that never happens) and the AC didn’t function. This hotel is a scam, the staff is super unfriendly and lazy.
