The Wilder House is beautifully decorated, and our room was beautiful. There are books and games if you need to occupy your time, and Brad, the owner, is both a real sweetheart and a fine cook of the included breakfasts. Chat with him and you'll come away smiling. There are a few problems, though, most of them minor and easily remedied, such as the lack of a night light in the bathroom, the single-ply toilet tissue, and the little packets of rough facial tissue instead of a box of higher quality stuff. There's a patterned wood mat, a bit hard on bare feet instead of an area rug; Brad says he's planning to get rugs to cover the mats. There also are some issues that probably can't be fixed. Though there's a ramp to get into the building, only Room 1 is on the first floor; the other four are on the second floor, with stairs the only way to get to them. In our room, Room 4, there's a step up to get into the bathroom, and it's a bit of work to grab onto the sink to make sure you're getting out safely. And the mount for the showerhead is so high that if you need to change its direction, a short person (I'm 4 foot 11) simply can't do it. Those cautions aside, though, the Wilder House really is a lovely place to spend a weekend. And I can't emphasize enough what a terrific host Brad is. When he's talking to you, he's giving you his full attention. (Since he's also the breakfast waiter as well as cook, that can lead to some delays. Nobody seemed to mind them, though.)

The Wilder is simply lovely. We loved our stay there- it was clean, impeccably decorated, eclectic in all the right ways, and the home was beautifully restored while still highlighting period details. Brad was an amazingly attentive host, the property is beautiful and close to great food, hiking, shopping, music and breweries. We hope to return!

My wife and I were looking for weekend accommodations while attending a Hotchkiss School reunion in Lakeville, CT. We checked options in Lakeville and Salisbury but decided to venture north to the Wilder House Berkshires in Sheffield, MA (about 25 minutes). The Wilder House Berkshires proved to an excellent choice, both a reasonable commute to Lakeville and a lovely place to stay. Brad, the host and owner, has created a warm and inviting atmosphere and was fully attentive to his guests needs. The rooms were very comfortable with all amenities provided. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious! The Wilder House is near restaurants, music, art and hiking venues, not to mention Guido’s, a specialty market in nearby Great Barrington well worth a visit! A fellow guest, who is a dedicated mushroom hunter, returned from the woods one evening with a bountiful haul! Without a doubt, we will revisit Wilder House Berkshires.

I would highly recommend this place. The breakfast was delicious, the decor is delightful, and it was quite comfortable overall. The weeknight off-season rate was quite reasonable, and owner was very personable and welcoming. I appreciated the conversation.

We stayed at the Wilder B&B this past weekend., ideally located in Sheffield which is the southern Berkshires. It’s a great jumping off point for hiking, restaurants, antiquing, and 5 mins from our favorite town Great Barrington. Sheffield is a hidden gem - check out the covered bridge and read about the alien encounters back in 1969 for some quirky history.
This B&B is new to the market, in a tastefully renovated and decorated home from 1802. Much thought and care was taken to give it the feel of an earlier time but with every modern convenience to make your stay comfortable. Immaculate, comfortable beds, each room with its own AC/heat, just overall very relaxing. Smooth self-check in. Brad, the owner, is a great guy and made us feel very welcome. Breakfasts were delicious.
The Berkshires are absolutely beautiful year round and we spend a lot of time there. We were very pleased we found this B&B, it just makes visiting so much nicer too. Highly recommended, and we will be back !

We had a lovely, restful getaway at the beautiful Wilder House. The antique inn is immaculately restored and appointed with updated decor, rich wallcoverings and gorgeous artwork yet provides a comfortable and homey feel. Sheffield is a sweet little town, convenient to destinations in the Berkshires as well as northern Connecticut. Brad is a gracious host and makes an excellent breakfast. We sampled all the offerings and especially recommend the yummy avocado toast and the yogurt granola bowl with fruit. We will definitely go back and highly recommend Wilder House to our friends.

I wasn't looking for much - just a soft bed at the end of a long travel day - but I got everything I wanted and more. Wilder House was a warm, inviting place; Brad was extremely attentive to his hospitality; and the accommodation was extremely comfortable. Although breakfast was not being served that day - which was reflected in the price, not to worry - I can imagine that this is pretty much the archetypal B&B.
(When working in the common areas the next morning, I even made friends with a lovely couple on a hiking holiday.)
When I next have occasion to be in the neighbourhood, I will be back. You should go too.

My husband and I stayed at the Wilder House just the past Labor Day weekend and we truly enjoyed our stay there. The house is a beautiful, old, stylish and very well maintained guesthouse! The grounds around the property are beautiful and very well preserved. The owner, Brad is very friendly, outgoing and approachable person. He makes delicious breakfast and he makes people feel comfortable there. It was a very convenient location for us to see the Berkshires. We would gladly come back and we highly recommend staying there.

This was a lovely stay, in a charming room. Bed was very comfy and contributed to a great night's sleep. Room had everything I needed including wifi and a small fridge. Host Brad was helpful, communicative, and friendly. There was ample parking. Surrounding area was pretty, and overall location was good, with some local restaurants, cafes, pizza places, and antiques stores all nearby. Much cozier than a big hotel and more predictable than an airbnb IMO, with more amenities. Would definitely stay here again!
