Detailed Reviews
My family and I have been staying at Surfcomber for years and every year it never disappoints.
The rooms are always clean and organized and the property/grounds are always beautiful and well kept. The location cannot be beat with direct access to a private beach which is just steps from your room.
Each year I arrive and depart with a smile on my face and excitement for rebooking for the next summer season.
I wanted to leave a review this time though to help others who are weary about traveling during this pandemic. Surfcomber staff did a fantastic job dealing the state protocols during Covid-19, we felt safe the whole time. Social distancing was in place (their lounge chairs are separated 6ft apart), contactless check out (and check-in if opted ahead of time), face masks required in main office, hand sanitizer in the rooms, and more. Plus while the daily room cleaning was not available, it honestly did not bother us. We simply filled out a form each morning requesting clean towels and placed the dirty ones in a laundry bag outside the room so no one but you entered the room your whole stay.
Overall I love Surfcomber and I will continue to support their business each year - best place to stay on Cape Cod.

Some of these cons are not really a deal breaker:
A lot of seaweed.
Considerable amount of rocks in the water of various sizes (some fist size). Glad I had my water shoes in the car already; it makes walking out on the water so much easier here.
Not a regular swimming type of feel in the ocean with the seaweed and rocks.
Room had a large mirror that - almost - could see your ankles. A skinny full length mirror in the bathroom vanity area, at least, would be ideal to look at the full length outfit.
Don't like the push up and down bathroom faucet handle.
No charging ports on the night stand between the beds (however, on the dresser across there is one unit).
No breakfast.

Our room was clean, very close to the water and we also enjoyed the pool. Hotel is close to many restaurants and places to play mini-golf. Would recommend--very family friendly. Rooms were cleaned daily which was very impressive given current staffing concerns in the hospitality industry.

This was my 8th year at the Surfcomber and it is still my favorite place. The grounds are kept immaculate, the staff is helpful and nice. The Surfcomer did an excellent job of keeping everything clean, and ensuring the safety of the guests. We have already booked for next year and are counting down the days. Thank you Surcomber for providing a relaxing vacation during such a stressful time.

We recommend this hotel and love this place. It's a great location, right on the beach, great views, walk home after dinner at Skippers Chowder house. Clean, friendly staff. Support locals! We like the upper deck rooms for great sea views. Enjoy the free hot coffee in the lobby daily too!

We loved our stay at Surfcomber on the ocean. It is a small hotel (30-40 rooms), but the staff were all friendly and industrious. The woman who checked us in was friendly with information and a variety of suggestions for local restaurants. Staff swept sand off the decks and stairways, and the path and stairs leading down to the beach, at least daily. They also washed down the deck chairs and tables, and the pool seemed well maintained.
Everyone we encountered there, including the other guests, were nice and friendly. One morning as I was sitting on the deck, the woman in the neighboring room asked me if I happened to have a plastic spoon. When I responded that I didn’t, the gentleman down at the other end of the deck offered her one of his.
Staying right on the beach in such a great place was heavenly.

Love the location. Hotel is spotless! But we needed to leave a day early because of the death of a dear family friend and they said I would be charged full price plus a cancellation fee for the remainder of our booked stay unless they could fill our room with other guests. They said because they have other rooms available it would be unlikely ours would be filled. It does not say that anywhere on their website!

We stayed here for 5 nights in room 23. We had a wonderful stay. We are a family of 5 with 3 young kids and this room with the kitchenette worked out perfectly. We could eat a lot of our meals here in the room. The pool was clean and well maintained. Our kids loved playing in the ocean and building sand castles on the beach, which was steps from our room. The staff was all very nice and accommodating. We would definitely return!

My close friend and I visited for a quiet getaway weekend in September of 2018. The hotel and staff were all wonderful. The rooms could have used updating at the time but by the photos, it looks like that has already happened.
The location is second to none and with the hotel being small, it creates a quaint and cozy atmosphere. We loved this place.

Lovely stay at this quaint 2 star motel. Needs a little dusting... specifically the vent in the bathroom and the tissue box cover, but overall the property was very well kept. Bed was comfortable and the grounds and pool were clean. Hospitality and welcome were exceptional. Great location. Lots of free parking in their lot. Close to the Skipper chowder house down the road. There were adorable bunnies on the property too. Wonderful beach front sitting area. Very relaxing. Great value. I would definitely stay again.

Skipper chowder House is a five minute walk from the hotel. They do fantastic New England style seafood and are famous for their clam chowder. They also have an ice cream window. There are other options that are maybe about a 15 to 20 minute walk from the hotel for breakfast and such. Of course, there’s always DoorDash. The charm of this hotel is that you can cop yourself down on the beach and not have to go anywhere during your stay. There are also refrigerators and microwaves and coffee machines in the rooms.
Here in Massachusetts, indoor dining is now permitted with restrictions in place as to how many people can eat inside at one time. Outdoor dining is also available and many restaurants that never offered outdoor dining in the past are doing so now. A quick google search will provide a broad overview of options. A couple spots that we recommend in particular are The Celtic Kitchen for breakfast and The Skipper Chowder House a short walk from our hotel for lunch and/or dinner.
Hi Kelly,
We were on the 1st floor and had a king bed(no kitchen).
Best bet is to phone or email them as Some rooms do have a sea view, maybe you could get a kitchen and a view!
The hotel is right on the beach, will be lovely for your toddler.
For food think about Skippers Chowder house, Only 5mins walk but does get busy! (We ended going several times as it was that good). Enjoy!
Hello rn58,
Unfortunately we do not allow pets at any time of the year. But there are a number of good kennels around.
Best,
Lisa.
